Job Summary
We are seeking an Event Assistant to support both the London Landmarks Half Marathon (LLHM) event side and Tommy’s side (affectionately nicknamed Team Tommy’s). This is an incredibly exciting time to join the team and gain fantastic experience in both the charity and events industry at one of the UK's leading mass participation events, which is owned and operated by Tommy's.
For the LLHM Team, the main purpose of this role is to provide first-class customer service and support to the 20,000+ runners taking part in the Half Marathon, as the event continues to grow in size year on year. This will involve managing the helpdesk email and phone line, ensuring runners are accurately registered and answering any queries they may have.
For Team Tommy’s, the main purpose of this role is to support the Tommy’s team of 3,000+ runners in the London Landmarks Half Marathon. The role is responsible for being the main point of contact for the runners and ensuring they have the best experience possible running the LLHM and fundraising for Tommy’s through our support inbox and phone line. The aim is to deliver the ambitious team fundraising target of over £1,800,000 for LLHM 2026 and more in the following years. This role will also support the development of the Team Tommy’s LLHM Corporate Challenge, a product that recruits a team of corporate runners to take part in the LLHM and fundraise for Tommy’s.
We are not necessarily looking for past experience in a similar role, but for transferable skills and personal attributes to deliver excellent customer service and be a good all-rounder with fantastic administration and communication skills. Overall, you should have a passion for the LLHM event and Tommy’s cause.

Position Overview:

Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership & Integration
- Develop and implement an integrated sales and marketing strategy for both the charity’s mission-driven goals and its commercial activities. Ensure the strategy drives the growth of both revenue from trading and funds raised for the charity’s projects.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to set clear, actionable goals for both the charity’s impact and its trading arm’s performance, aligning these objectives with broader organisational priorities.
- Analyse market conditions and trends, including competitor analysis, to identify opportunities and optimise marketing efforts, ensuring we remain agile and responsive to market demands.
- Lead the development of annual marketing plans, considering key events, fundraising activity, the academic calendar, and product launches for the trading arm.

2. Marketing and Brand Development

- Oversee the creation of compelling marketing collateral, including digital content, print materials, advertising, and promotional campaigns that resonate with both sponsors and customers.
- Guide the development of integrated marketing campaigns that incorporate both charity-related content and the trading arm’s product offerings, reinforcing the message of social good while promoting commercial activities.
- Supervise digital marketing efforts, including website optimisation (SEO), social media strategies, and email marketing, to increase traffic, raise awareness, and drive conversions for both donations and product sales.
- Enhance public relations efforts, cultivating strong relationships with media outlets to ensure positive press coverage of both the charity’s work and the trading activities.
3. Revenue Generation & Sales Strategy
- Develop and drive sales strategies for the charity’s trading arm, including pricing, promotions, customer segmentation, and cross-selling opportunities.
- Collaborate with the education team to create and market new product lines or services, ensuring they align with the charity’s values while meeting the needs and preferences of customers.
- Oversee the development and execution of sales funnels and customer acquisition strategies to increase conversion rates, sales volume, and customer retention.
- Implement loyalty and retention programs that encourage repeat purchases from customers of the trading arm and foster long-term engagement.
- Monitor sales performance, ensuring alignment with set targets, and provide timely adjustments to campaigns, product offerings, and pricing strategies to maximise revenue.
- Work with fundraising teams to ensure synergies between donation drives and trading promotions, leveraging the strength of both income sources.
4. Sponsor and Customer Engagement
- Develop effective strategies for sponsor stewardship, ensuring ongoing engagement with supporters through personalised communication, recognition programs, and impactful storytelling that ties the trading arm’s products to the charity’s mission.
- Utilise customer relationship management (CRM) systems to create tailored communication plans and deepen engagement with both sponsors and customers, encouraging more frequent and larger sponsorship or purchases.
- Foster a community of loyal supporters and customers, turning first-time buyers into repeat purchasers, and sponsors into long-term, committed advocates.
- Design campaigns that target both customers and sponsors, converting customers into sponsors by emphasising the positive social impact of their purchases, and vice versa.
5. Team Leadership and Development
- Lead a dynamic team of sales, marketing, and digital professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and opportunities for professional development to ensure they reach their full potential.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture within the marketing and sales teams, with a focus on creativity, accountability, and shared success.
- Manage and nurture relationships with external partners, agencies, and contractors to supplement the in-house team’s efforts and bring in specialised expertise as needed.

- Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships with corporate sponsors, influencers, retail partners, and community organisations to extend reach and enhance fundraising opportunities.
- Develop marketing strategies for key seasonal and high-traffic events (e.g. Black Friday or January Sales), ensuring the charity and trading arm are both prominently featured.
7. Data Analytics and Performance Reporting
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for both the marketing and sales efforts across the charity and trading arm, with a strong focus on return on investment (ROI) for campaigns and product sales.
- Regularly analyse marketing data, tracking performance across channels, evaluating campaign results, and identifying areas for improvement.
- Provide detailed monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to senior leadership, highlighting successes, challenges, and opportunities for future growth.
- Conduct customer and sponsor behaviour analysis, utilising insights to adjust marketing and sales strategies and improve targeting.
8. Budget Management
- Oversee the marketing and sales budget for both the charity and trading operations, ensuring that funds are allocated effectively to maximise both financial contribution and the nasen’s mission.
- Monitor expenditure to ensure all campaigns are delivered within budget, making recommendations where necessary and full analysis on ROI.
Qualifications:
Experience:
- At least 7-10 years of experience in a senior sales and marketing role, ideally with experience managing both non-profit and commercial sales efforts.
- Proven track record of successfully leading integrated marketing campaigns and driving revenue growth in both the charity and ecommerce sectors.
- Experience in developing and executing sales strategies, including pricing, product development, customer acquisition and retention.
- Knowledge of CRM systems, digital marketing platforms, and data analytics tools.
- Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams, managing external agencies, and collaborating with senior leadership to meet organisational goals.

Representation and Partnership

The Role
The Head of Digital Infrastructure will be a pivotal member of the leadership team, managing the charity’s operational digital infrastructure, enabling a seamless interface between staff, technology and systems, and leading on the development and delivery of the Charity’s IT strategy. Reporting to the Director of Finance and Operations, the post-holder will be responsible for the operation of Wonderseekers’ IT infrastructure, including its digital platforms, box office system and digital planetarium, as well as cyber security measures, identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation throughout.
The role requires a hands-on approach, balancing day to day system administration with the management of IT contracts and digital tools such as databases. You will also take ownership of the digital exhibits, part of the wider, hands-on family friendly visitor attraction at Winchester Science Centre and be the Charity expert on the operation of the digital planetarium system.
This role is part of a growing team and you will be responsible for the recruitment, training and development of an IT apprentice to support the delivery of the service.

Key Objectives
· To support the charity delivering on its charitable objectives by providing effective IT support, including box office/ticketing solutions and the Charity’s websites

· Work collaboratively with the Commercial Operations team, external web developer and software provider to ensure delivery of an exceptional customer experience from landing on the Charity website to completion of a ticket purchase, minimising downtime wherever possible.
· Troubleshoot IT platform-related issues and liaise with developers when needed.
· Identify opportunities for operational improvement and innovation, and present these to senior stakeholders.
· Oversee and maintain IT infrastructure, ensuring high availability, security, and optimal performance, working with the Estates team and Technicians where required.
· Manage cloud services, IT providers and hardware procurement to support organisational needs.
· Implement and enforce IT policies and best practices.
· Work collaboratively with the People and Culture team to manage digital processes associated with new starters / leavers.
· Ad hoc tasks to support the smooth running of Wonderseekers and delivery of the charity’s strategy.
Digital Platform Management:
· Maintain and enhance Wonderseekers internal staff communications platform to improve user experience and efficiency.
· Identify and implement system upgrades, customisations, and integrations to meet staff needs.

Project Management:
· Lead operational projects aimed at improving internal operations efficiency and/or technology integration.

Key Responsibilities:

Purpose
This vital role works alongside the Head of Philanthropy to help build and grow our philanthropic partnerships over the next five years and beyond. As well as building upon current relationships, you will identify, research and cultivate relationships with charitable Trusts and Foundations as well as major donors to raise both restricted and unrestricted income.
Responsibilities and areas of work
This important role will focus primarily on Trust Fundraising but will also encompass Major Donor Fundraising. It will seek to identify new high-level donors, as well to develop existing relationships with our generous supporters. 1. New business acquisition:
a) Researching new individuals and trusts to build a prospect list for future funders, using our database (Salesforce), available lists and external databases. Assessing the potential for active, lapsed and prospective donors to support CBM and recording accordingly.
b) Recommending tactical next steps for engagement with new individuals and trusts, for approval by the Head of Philanthropy.
2. Stewardship and cultivation of current and active donors:
a) Developing and implementing tailored stewardship plans, so that individuals / trusts are engaged in a bespoke manner, and that application and reporting deadlines are met.
b) Leading on the production and submission of applications, proposals and initial approaches (by post, email and, to a lesser degree, phone) and following up as required.
c) Reporting to donors in a formal or informal way, as appropriate, to ensure they are kept up to date with CBM and project developments d)Organising, facilitating and attending face-to-face and online meetings with high-level donors/ trusts, including organising dates and venues, and creating Meeting Briefs for all attendees to ensure positive outcomes.
3. Proposal and Report Writing
a) Designing and crafting compelling proposals, reports, project timelines and budgets that meet the bespoke needs of donors whilst meeting the needs of CBM and our Programme delivery colleagues, within agreed deadlines.
b) Working with members of the Programmes Team to ensure the accuracy of proposals /reports, and with members of the Fundraising & Communications Team to ensure consistency of messaging.
c) Working with the Philanthropy & Partnerships Team to develop new projects/ themes/
appeals for potential projects.
4. Other Team Responsibilities:
a) Helping to develop the Annual Forecast Budget for the Team, and providing updates on the pipeline and progress against targets.
b) Ensuring all information, donor activity is recorded and kept up-to-date on our database to fully-inform any approaches / meetings.
