Summary job description
We seek an experienced Director of Development to drive Blue Ventures' fundraising efforts, secure resources, and support our ambitious Thriving Fishers Thriving Oceans Strategy.
Reporting to the Chief Programme Officer, this senior leadership position oversees the development team and is responsible for a portfolio of trusts and foundation grants, high-net-worth individual giving, and government funding. The team oversees the entire fundraising cycle across the portfolio, including identifying and cultivating funding relationships, developing high-quality proposals, managing grants, and stewardship.
As part of the Senior Leadership Team, the Director of Development collaborates cross-functionally with other department leads, regional directors, and country teams to understand the resourcing needs across multi-year plans and organisational priority setting. The director also leads fundraising efforts to ensure Blue Ventures continues to grow and scale effectively.
We seek a results-oriented individual with an exceptional track record for strategic fundraising, leading teams to successfully secure significant, multi-year commitments and build long-term, trust-based relationships with donors committed to the mission and vision of Blue Ventures and its Thriving Fishers Thriving Oceans 2030 strategy.
The successful candidate will have built and maintained networks of relationships with relevant donors, especially in the United States, overseen the development of compelling proposals, and been successful in identifying opportunities and forging new relationships. This individual will be a confident leader, able to use their experience to mentor colleagues and build a motivated and performance-oriented team. This role requires working across multiple time zones and some international travel, including visiting countries of operation and attending global events and conferences. The compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience.

The charity is dedicated to supporting individuals and families living with a neurological condition such as MS, MND, Parkinson’s and stroke through short respite breaks and outreach services. The charity currently supports around 500 families, just like Dorothy and Robert, each year, and has a strategic intent to positively impact ten times as many lives by 2030.
Director of Development Role
The charity is looking for a new Director of Development to join its senior leadership team and take ownership of its fundraising and communications functions. Leuchie is looking for someone with deep knowledge of both these areas through a senior fundraising or business development career. You will be expert at writing growth strategies and have led a team to deliver success. Leuchie has huge potential to increase its support from high net worth individuals and corporate partnerships so you will need to be particularly knowledgeable about these channels.
You should have experience working with a Board of Trustees/Management to achieve your strategic goals as well as providing Board reports for your department. You will need to be an outstanding communicator at all levels.
You will be committed to developing and supporting the Head of Fundraising to lead the team to success.

Job description
The SS Great Britian Trust is seeking a12-month, maternity cover, Development Manager to play a key role in maximising income for the SS Great Britain Trust through Corporate, Trust and individual fundraising. It's a really exciting time at the Trust as we are fundraising for a significant capital project, in addition to an award-winning education programme. You will have the opportunity to shape our fundraising plans and use your experience and expertise to develop and test new fundraising initiatives.
You will be a persuasive and influential communicator who likes building and deepening relationships with funders, and you will enjoy providing supportive line management to two fundraisers.
Who We’re Looking For
We are seeking candidates with experience of developing income streams and delivering funding against targets. You will help to deliver a programme of events (from breakfast meetings showcasing items in the archive to evening events with shanty singers!) to engage with potential supporters and build relationships with new funders.
You will have brilliant writing skills and be able to develop excellent funding bids, alongside building effective working relationships with different teams, senior leaders and external stakeholders.
Key duties:
- Work with the Director of Development to grow income across a range of income streams, with a particular focus on Trusts and Foundations, including multi-year grants, unrestricted and restricted income.
- Lead the team in prospect research, developing qualified prospect pipelines across income streams and driving new funding approaches.
- Maximise opportunities with Corporate supporters. Work to develop existing Corporate Partnerships, and identify opportunities for growth and achieve new income across Memberships, Sponsorship and Corporate Trusts and Foundations.
- Achieve results through persuasive and compelling applications and proposals and creating robust budgets, and amplify project impact through detailed monitoring and inspiring reports.

About the role: Your main duties will include:
- Evaluate and prioritise Business Development (BD) opportunities within the framework of area, regional and Group growth plans, in line with Group strategy, in partnership with Operations Directors, Managing Directors, Head of BD, and wider BD team members.
- Leading on identifying areas/individuals which would benefit from ISFs, empowering people we support to be in control of how their support is designed and delivered. MAIN DUTIES
1.Being first point of contact for new business client enquiries, responding to messages from new clients and scheduling sales consultations with prospective clients. This includes acting on new referrals for paid service consultations within 24 hours, gaining the client's trust, identifying and advising on the best service to meet the client’s needs from initial assessment of their situation, and promoting confidence in Beacon and our ability to meet the client’s needs.
2.Liaising with relevant health trusts, care providers and other organisations to support the facilitation of assessments, as part of a new business request.
3. Providing operational support to Business Development Manager, including taking telephone enquiries from clients and arranging sales consultations. Supporting the Business Development Manager with sales consultations during holidays and at peak periods.
4.Drafting and sending detailed estimates to prospective clients following initial consultations and following up to close the sale.
5.Establishing a rapport with prospective clients, utilising Beacon’s reputation within the industry to generate business and maintaining excellent communication throughout the sales journey.
6.Managing the case allocation process including responsibility for ensuring cases are allocated in a timely way according to case deadlines.
7.Generating and sending out contracts and associated paperwork, and processing completed contracts for clients engaging in a paid service. Liaising with caseworkers for a smooth handover of the new case, ensuring that expectations are met and key deadlines understood by the caseworker.
8.Maintaining good communication with colleagues in the Information and Advice team to facilitate the smooth transfer of prospective clients from an advice call to a paid service consultation.
9.To keep relevant and sufficiently detailed case records following each client contact, ensuring that all client information is kept up to date in line with Beacon’s systems and procedures, including data protection policies.
10.Keeping sales data software up to date and producing monthly sales reports for Managing Director.
11.Responsible for the effective operation of client administrative procedures including operating and maintaining database and filing systems.
12.Arranging for the safe and secure transportation of sensitive client files and medical records for caseworkers and clients.
13.Attending line management, supervision and team meetings as appropriate.

Background Information
NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC) is the name given to a package of care that some people need to receive due to disability, accident or illness. People who are eligible for CHC have the full cost of their care and residential accommodation funded by the NHS. This relieves families of sometimes astronomical care bills.
The criteria for determining who is eligible for CHC are highly complex and can be very difficult for the public to understand, and for professionals to apply consistently. The assessment process is lengthy and detailed. Likewise, the appeal process can be very daunting and perplexing.
Beacon was established in May 2014 for the purpose of providing independent and high-quality support to individuals and their families in England who need help navigating the NHS Continuing Healthcare process.

- We deliver a comprehensive programme of training and consultancy to public, private and third sector organisations, with a particular focus on equipping health and social care practitioners to get it right; and
- We are the chosen supplier for the NHS England-funded national Information & Advice Service for Continuing Healthcare.

Dive deep to uncover any barriers that stand in their way, helping to remove those barriers to enable them to shine and propelling them on their journey towards amazing outcomes. Responsible for a group of young people, for one-on-one support and guidance or just gently pointing them in the right direction. You'll be on a mission to assist with travel expenses and find clever ways to handle their other commitments. You'll champion their support and learning needs with employers, and you'll be the ultimate liaison, working alongside partners like the job centre to ensure that nothing stands in the way of their success!
You’ll also be the guiding light for our delivery partners and service providers as we want them to deliver the best experience and outcomes for our young people. High-fives all around! Roll up your sleeves and deliver employability sessions directly to our incredible young people. You'll also help our Delivery Partners and volunteers do the same, both in person and virtually through our trusty MS Teams. When we're doing things face-to-face, you’ll need to hit the road and be there in person to help with programme delivery or programme visits to make sure all is running as smoothly as possible.
And if that’s not enough to keep you busy, you’ll also be keeping meticulous records of information and data on our young people, volunteers, and partners. It's all about making sure every step of their journey is accurately reflected in our systems so that it complies with our funding contracts.
