We are seeking a strategic and collaborative digital leader to help deliver a bold new data system for Scotland’s nature.

Position: Data and Digital Services Manager

Salary: £35,000 – £39,000 per annum, depending on experience

Location: Fully remote (with some UK travel)

About the Role

The charity’s mission is to make data work for nature. The Better Biodiversity Data (BBD+1) programme is a bold new step towards transforming how biodiversity data is managed, accessed and used to support conservation, planning and policy decisions in Scotland.

As the new Data and Digital Services Manager, you’ll play a vital role in implementing and supporting a new, shared biodiversity data system developed with and for Scotland’s biodiversity community. This is a hands-on, highly collaborative role where you will:

• Work closely with local environmental records centres (LERCs), NGOs, recording groups, government agencies and developers

• Support system configuration and data migration activities

• Lead ongoing digital service delivery and user support

• Build strong relationships and drive user-focused development

• Contribute to the long-term sustainability of a nationally significant biodiversity data infrastructure

This role sits at the heart of an ambitious and funded project, based on the recommendations of the Scottish Biodiversity Information Forum (SBIF) Review and delivered in partnership with NatureScot and the Scottish Government.

About You

We’re looking for a confident digital services lead or data manager who is:

• Experienced in managing data systems or services in multi-stakeholder environments

• Skilled in data standards, integration and system support

• A great communicator, collaborator and problem-solver

• Comfortable working independently in a fully remote role

• Passionate about using data to drive change in environmental or public sectors

Experience in biodiversity, conservation or not-for-profit sectors would be a bonus, but not essential.

The Chartered Institute for Archaeologists (CIfA) is the professional home for archaeologists in the UK and overseas. We're recruiting for someone to lead our Capacity Building & Standards (CB&S) function on a maternity cover contract.

The CB&S function aims to build the capacity of organisations and institutions to embed the processes, skills, structures and cultures needed for effective public engagement in decision making. This includes work in the public, private and third sectors.On a practical level this includes developing and delivering training courses and mentoring programmes; setting up and supporting networks; authoring good practice guides and thought leadership pieces; being responsible for our Knowledge Base and tools; leading sector-wide standards development; and, managing and other programmes and projects that supports the embedding of public participation and engagement in the UK. 

In this role you will lead the CB&S team in the development, design and delivery of impactful and sustainable capacity building and standards setting programmes and projects. This exciting role will lead and coordinate our work with institutions, and others, to find a way through difficult issues like low emission zones, the energy transition, industrialisation of green spaces and other challenges in a way that centres the people who are impacted, with a social justice and equity lens. The successful candidate will lead several of our major climate change and nature projects, including the UKRI Net Zero Living project - working with 28 Councils to embed meaningful public participation in their route to net zero. You will also contribute to the training, standards setting and advocacy work that Involve does - maintaining and growing our reputation in climate and environment networks and communicating the contribution we can make and impact that we are having.

We have a significant track record in public deliberation on climate change. We ran the first Climate Assembly in the UK and have since delivered many projects in this area including the People’s Plan for Nature. We have developed a reputation for best practice public dialogue, deliberation and capacity building. We want to grasp the opportunity for deliberative practices to make a real contribution to the change needed to respond to the climate crisis. This is a great opportunity to play a central role in taking this work forward. We are looking for someone to bring experience in designing and running participatory and deliberative processes and a good understanding of the complexities and challenges of climate and/or nature. You will be joining a large team of Money Advisers providing specialist level debt and benefit advice and casework. 

We have 2 posts available - 1 based in our Brighton and Hove office, and the second either based in our office, but fully remote working possible.  For both posts you will have lots of variety, providing telephone specialist debt and benefit advice and casework across a range of projects.  If you are based in our office you will also deliver face-to-face advice both in the office and other outreach locations including Foodbanks and with inpatients.

Ideally you will hold a qualification in Money Advice, obtained either through the Institute of Money Advisers or the Money and Pensions Service.  If you do not have a qualification, you must be prepared to work towards obtaining this, included some study in your own time. You will have excellent communication and digital skills, be comfortable delivering advice in person and by phone, and be able to plan and organise your work effectively.

The Role 

5Rights Foundation is seeking a dynamic and skilled Communications Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will play a central role in managing external communications, strengthening our media presence, and ensuring our messaging aligns with the organisation’s pioneering and ambitious global advocacy objectives. This role offers the opportunity to deliver practical change for children, as part of a small organisation with a strong track record of changing narratives, setting the agenda and bringing together both the expertise and the public support to get policy over the line.

Reporting to the Head of Communications and working closely with the 5Rights Advocacy and Operations teams, the Communications Officer will be responsible for crafting compelling content (such as articles, social media posts and press releases), liaising with journalists, and enhancing our brand visibility across multiple platforms. The position is fast paced, requiring a proactive mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. We offer an initial 6-month contract, with the possibility of a permanent role. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Monitor news cycles and digital trends to identify risks and opportunities. 

• Track media coverage and maintain an up-to-date press contact database. 

• Manage 5Rights’ website and social media platforms, ensuring consistent messaging. 

• Develop impactful content, including audiovisual assets, articles and press releases. 

• Manage the design and dissemination of 5Rights’ monthly newsletter.

• Support the design and execution of communications campaigns, both independently and with coalition partners. 

• Assist in the planning, promotion and execution of events. 

• Support internal coordination to align communications with advocacy goals. 

ESSENTIAL skills and attributes 

• A degree in communication, journalism or equivalent. 

• At least 2 years of professional experience in communications, journalism, or a related field. 

• Excellent writing, messaging and presentation skills, with a strong ability to engage press and public audiences. 

• A solid understanding of traditional and digital media landscapes. 

• Experience managing social media channels and developing effective engagement strategies. 

• Experience in the creation of social media content (video and static graphics), and marketing materials using graphic design software such as Canva or InDesign. 

• Familiarity with Mailchimp and experience with content management systems (WordPress); knowledge of SEO best practices is a plus. 

• A proactive, can-do attitude and solution-oriented mindset, backed by strong strategic thinking skills and project management abilities. 

• Excellent spoken and written English. Other languages are an advantage. 

DESIRABLE skills and attributes 

• Experience working internationally and in culturally-diverse settings. 

• A good understanding of the international tech policy landscape and policy making processes. 

• A good overview of the issues children face in the digital environment. 

• Knowledge of other languages, notably French or Spanish. 

Practical details 

• Reporting line: Head of Communications 

• Location: UK or Belgium. This is a fully remote role, with access to shared office spaces in both London and Brussels that can be used up to twice a week. 

• Duration: 6 months

• Full time, with flexibility in working hours 

• Remuneration: £27,000 per annum for a UK-based employee, or 35,660 Euros per annum including all benefits (Basic salary of €2,419 per month before benefits) for a Belgium-based employee. Some negotiation may be possible depending on experience.
