The Sociological Review Foundation is seeking its first Development Manager to join its team. This role, reporting directly to the Operations Director, presents a unique opportunity to drive the organisation’s strategic growth initiatives and fundraising calls, expand partnerships, and generate revenue through the sale of services.

THE ROLE
We are looking for a motivated and passionate Director of Finance and Operationsto join our team, to provide strategic and financial leadership and support to Climate Spring as it continues to grow
Key responsibilities:
- Strategic leadership on all finance and operational matters affecting Climate Spring’s activities
- Manage and oversee the organisation’s budget in line with the organisation’s strategy
- Support the Executive Director and Director of Impact with fundraising strategy and funder management.
- Oversee the financial management of the organisation
- Provide financial and operational leadership for the organisation’s establishment of a new production fund
- Prepare and present financial reports for board and funders.
- Manage relevant internal and departmental operational developments
- Oversee the organisation’s operations, ensuring effective and inclusive practices and policies
- Oversee the organisation’s HR policies and practice
- Supporting the Executive Director in reporting to the board and ensuring effective governance
Minimum role criteria:
- 10+ years of experience working in philanthropic, social investment or charity sector with significant leadership experience.
- Experience managing organisational budgets over £2m

PURPOSE OF THIS ROLE
Over recent years, SBP has grown from a fledgling charity to an established and impactful organisation with an annual budget of over £1m in restricted and unrestricted funds.
Our existing Head of Finance, who has been with us through part of this journey, is shortly due to retire and will be replaced by this Head of Finance & HR role, with strategic and operational ownership of SBP’s finances, as well as responsibility of SBP’s HR policy and processes.
KEY LIAISONS
The Head of Finance & HR will report to SBP’s CEO and sit on SBP’s Management Team, comprising the CEO and other heads of functions.
The role will manage our Finance & HR Officer and work closely with other members of the home-based SBP team, including colleagues in Fundraising leading on income generation.
The role will also communicate regularly with SBP’s Treasurer and the wider Board of Trustees to support their understanding of the charity’s financial and HR management.
Where required, the role will also have contact with SBP’s partners, suppliers and other external contacts in the course of managing the charity’s financial agreements and transactions.
KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Operational ownership of SBP’s finances, including:

Control and management of SBP’s bank accounts and financial system (Xero).

Responsibility for SBP’s financial transactions, payments and payroll.

Responsibility for external claims/reporting, including Gift Aid claims and VAT returns.

Responsibility for SBP’s financial processes, controls and policies.

Line management and development of the Finance & HR Officer to support in the above.
Strategic ownership and governance of SBP’s finances, including:

Management and delivery of our annual budget and the budgeting/re-forecasting process, with input from the wider team.

Management and delivery of our annual accounts and audit, in conjunction with an external accountant/auditor.

Monthly financial reporting to the Management Team.

Quarterly financial reporting to the Board of Trustees.

Financial planning for the organisation, taking into account trends in spending and income, and planned growth of our activities.

Assessment and communication of financial risks to the Management Team and Board of Trustees.
Financial advice and support to the wider SBP team, including:

Providing financial information to feed into fundraising applications.

Providing advice on VAT/financial risk in relation to new products, partnerships and agreements.

Advising on budget creation and management for projects, commissions and operational areas.
Human resources policy and processes:

Responsibility for SBP’s human resource processes, controls and policies.

Oversight of contracting and on-boarding of new employees.

Oversight of holiday management and storage of key documents/information using our HR system, Breathe.

Line management and development of the Finance & HR Officer to support in the above.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA), or equivalent level of knowledge/experience.

Experience of reporting, budgeting, payroll and other finance processes at an operational and strategic level.

Experience in a charitable organisation, or good working knowledge of the unique aspects of charity finance, including management of restricted and unrestricted funds.

Experience of taking ownership of either a finance function or a discreet finance area, along with the responsibility for its accurate management and efficient running.

Experience of presenting and explaining financial information to individuals and groups with varying levels of financial understanding.

Experience of HR management policy and process.

Experience of working with Xero, or proven ability to get up to speed quickly with new financial systems.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Salary: £24,000-27,000 per annum on 0.6 FTE hours (pro-rated from £40,000-45,000 FTE), depending on experience. Salaries are paid in arrears on the last working day of each month by bank transfer.
Hours: Working hours are flexible, but must equate to a minimum of 22.5 working hours (0.6 FTE) per week, Monday to Friday. Note that the full-time working week at SBP is 37.5 hours. The nature of the post may from time to time require evening and weekend work. Paid overtime is not available, but time off in lieu will be given.
Place of work: This role is home-based within Scotland and will require a suitable home office working environment (SBP can provide a laptop and support additional equipment needs). Attendance of meetings and events in other parts of Scotland will also be required periodically, with travel expenses paid in accordance with SBP’s Expenses Policy.
Contract: Permanent.
Flexibility: Subject to ensuring that the needs of the charity and the role are met, SBP endeavours to meet the flexible working needs of its employees.
Holidays: 16.8 days on 0.6 FTE hours (pro-rated from our FTE allowance of 28 days) including public holidays, plus 5 additional office closure days between Christmas and New Year.
Pensions: You may be eligible to be enrolled into SBP’s employee pension scheme. Written terms of the scheme are available on request.
Probationary period: 6 months.
Notice period: 2 months.

Key Activities
Leadership and Governance
- Support the organisation in reviewing and implementing improved systems and processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

- Provide expert support and guidance to the CEO on legal and governance duties as a charity.

THE ROLE
This is a senior leadership role at The Girls’ Network with strategic and operational responsibility for the successful delivery of our mentoring and ambassador programmes. You will lead a geographically dispersed, home-based programme team, ensuring high-quality, girl-centred delivery that meets our organisational goals and supports our long-term impact. As the charity’s Safeguarding Lead, you’ll oversee safeguarding strategy and decision-making, and play a vital role in championing best practice across the organisation. You’ll also be accountable for the mentor journey - from recruitment and engagement to retention, and act as our in-house expert on mentoring and impactful interventions for girls and young women. With a strong focus on continuous improvement, innovation, and data-driven decision making, this role is key to shaping and evolving our programme offer to meet the needs of the girls we serve.
Key Activities
Programme Delivery
- Operational ownership and accountability for the successful delivery of The Girls’ Network programmes, in line with our strategic aims and operational targets.
- Ownership and accountability for operational safeguarding decision-making in relation to programme delivery.
- Leadership of implementation and compliance of processes and procedures in the programme team, to ensure best practice, quality and consistency.
- Be accountable for our volunteer mentor community, including the mentor experience, engagement and retention. Ownership of our mentor recruitment retention strategy and ongoing activity.
- The organisation’s subject matter expert in relation to mentoring programmes and impactful interventions for girls and young women more widely, to inform the work we do.
- Ownership of data utilisation for effective ongoing monitoring and evaluation of the programme, to inform continuous improvement and progress to enable reporting to key stakeholders, including the CEO and trustee board.
- Oversight of the Ambassador Programme, including developments and enhancements to our delivery, in line with our strategy. This includes improved integration of the ambassador community to the rest of our programmes, enabling wider participation and great long-term impact.
Design and Development
- Develop and implement the programme’s operational delivery plan, in line with broader strategic objectives.
- Introduce an effective way of making iterative programmatic changes to enable continuous improvement and ensure we deliver a programme of consistently high quality, that remains current and flexes to the needs of the girls we support.
- Ensure a girl-centred approach to all programme delivery and development.
- Work closely with the Fundraising team to align partnership activities, managing high profile relationships relevant to the programme and identifying opportunities for joint-working and income generation.
- Identify needs and opportunities for innovation and growth and pilot new programme elements to deliver impact and, when appropriate, revenue
Team Leadership
- Effective leadership and direction of a programme team who are entirely home-based and widely geographically dispersed.
- Line management of senior members of the programme delivery team, the Programme Co-ordinator and MERL Manager.
- Foster a team environment in-keeping with our organisational values.
- Ownership of the professional development of programme delivery team members. This includes enabling new members of the team to have the tools to deliver effectively, as well as the ongoing development of existing staff.
- Ownership of recruitment of programme team roles, with support from the People & Culture Manager.
Safeguarding
- Named Safeguarding Lead for the charity with ultimate accountability for Safeguarding decisions.
- Working with Safeguarding Officers, ensure policies are kept up-to-date and reflect best practice.
- Review any key training and material, especially that which is shared externally.
- Ensure all staff and trustees undergo the appropriate training needed to meet their safeguarding responsibilities.
- Overall responsibility for the safeguarding phone, and any rota established for this.

- Advocate and promote The Girls’ Network at every opportunity - for example, through local media, PR activities and social media.

Whilst being homebased, the Fostering Form F Assessing Social Worker will be required to travel to undertake assessments across the Yorkshire, North East and North West region. There is also a requirement to be able to travel to Team meetings, wellbeing days, TACT away days and other in person events across the UK as and when required.
Core Fostering Form F Assessing Social Worker Tasks include:
- Preparing applicants for the fostering role

As Individual Giving and Appeals Manager, you’ll deliver integrated fundraising campaigns across direct mail, email, and digital channels — helping us grow our individual giving base and strengthen donor loyalty.
Alongside driving individual and regular giving, you’ll help shape a new in-memory giving offer, build our legacy giving programme from the ground up, and grow our Named Funds programme.

About the role
We are looking for a Policy and Public Affairs Officer to join the team to work on an exciting new three-year project funded by the National Lottery Community Fund. As part of this project, you will work closely alongside our frontline partner Money Advice Plus to help take our influencing work to the next level in our mission to stop economic abuse forever.
The role of the Policy and Public Affairs Officer is to work closely with the Senior Policy and Public Affairs Manager and Head of Advocacy and Communications to develop viable, evidence-based policy solutions and deliver influencing plans to engage stakeholders from across parliament, the civil service, industry and charities to address economic abuse. Your focus will be on developing policy and influencing government on coerced debt – one of the most insidious yet devastating forms of economic abuse – to drive forward public and private sector responses. In this role, you will work collaboratively with our frontline partner Money Advice Plus and victim-survivors to ensure our policy and influencing work is grounded in women’s lived experiences of economic abuse.
You would be joining us at a significant moment as we launch our ambitious new three-year strategy. As part of this, we will build on our influencing work by ensuring victim-survivors’ voices are heard by the new Government to deliver lasting change.
About you
You will have experience in policy development, including undertaking research and analysing evidence to form credible evidence-based solutions and producing policy outputs like reports, consultation responses or briefings.
You will have strong public affairs skills, including excellent knowledge of parliamentary processes, sound political judgement, and proven ability to build support among a variety of stakeholders.

About the Role
As a Finance Assistant, you will be responsible for setting up and updating all property and resident accounts on the rental ledger system and for ensuring that rental income in correctly reflected on both the rent and finance systems on a timely basis.
You will work closely with project staff and housing benefit departments regarding rental income queries and ensure that rental income is received in accordance with the charity’s internal financial controls and all legal regulatory requirements are complied with. The role will involve some sales ledger work, under the supervision of the Rental Income Business Partner.

We're seeking an experienced and inspirational leader to Chair our Independent Advisory Group (IAG) whose role is to provide independent advice to the Travalyst Board and Secretariat on the delivery of Travalyst’s strategy. As Chair, you'll provide independent strategic guidance, critical insights, and expert advice to shape Travalyst’s initiatives and impact. This role requires a commitment of approximately 1-2 days per month over an initial two-year term (with the possibility of renewal).

Set the IAG’s agenda and priorities, in close collaboration with the Travalyst CEO and Board Chair.

About the IAG
Our IAG is comprised of a global group of some of the world’s leading travel and sustainability experts. Its primary remit is the expert review of Travalyst’s product roadmaps, including impact evaluation. In addition, the IAG’s proactive advice is invited on any topic, including Travalyst’s strategy and theory of change.
The IAG currently has six members, appointed as a core group of experts with a systemic view of travel and tourism. We expect this group to grow to 8-10 members during 2025/6, to fill specific gaps in expertise. IAG Members are appointed by the Secretariat, in consultation with the IAG Chair.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within the growing and ambitious Individual Giving team at Alzheimer’s Society. This role within the Committed Giving team is pivotal to helping us reach our exciting goal of doubling our income by 2030.
You will lead our multi-million-pound regular giving acquisition campaigns across multiple channels, including face-to-face, an important and growing channel for us. This year, we have significantly increased our investment across regular giving and Lottery acquisition, so working closely with the other Individual Giving manager, you will develop and implement plans to diversify our channel mix, testing new propositions and working closely with our creative and media partners.
You will develop the budget for your campaigns, setting ambitious targets and strategies for future growth, and be encouraged to regularly review and push your campaigns to greater heights, playing an active role in modelling our culture of testing, learning, and innovation.
You will have the opportunity to work with many talented and passionate colleagues. This includes building close relationships with our agency partners to maximise the effectiveness of our campaigns, working alongside the other Individual Giving manager and Agency manager to ensure we have synergies across our campaigns and working with our Stewardship team to ensure the onward journeys and retention are well planned and focused.
You will have the opportunity to manage at least one officer who is responsible for the day-to-day delivery of marketing campaigns. Your role will be to support, challenge and inspire them to succeed – with a real focus on their development.
