SMART CJS is seeking a skilled and experienced Trusts and Foundations Bid Writer to play a key role in generating income from charitable trusts, foundations, and statutory funders. We’re looking for someone with a proven track record of writing successful funding applications and identifying new opportunities that align with SMART’s strategic goals in tackling homelessness and supporting vulnerable individuals in Bedford and the surrounding area.

This is an exciting time to join SMART CJS as we grow and respond to new funding opportunities. The role is primarily home-based, so the successful candidate must be able to work independently and manage their time effectively. Given the nature of our work, personal resilience is also important, as some of the stories and case studies used in funding applications can be emotionally challenging. The role will come with realistic targets.

Main Purpose of the Role

To identify, write, and submit compelling, well-researched and tailored funding applications to trusts, foundations, and relevant grant-giving bodies. The post holder will work closely with the CEO, Head of Business, and operational teams to gather information, write bids, and track progress of submissions, ensuring SMART CJS meets income targets.

Key Responsibilities

1. Fundraising and Bid Writing

• Research and identify suitable grant and funding opportunities from charitable trusts, foundations, and statutory bodies.
• Write and submit high-quality funding applications and proposals in line with SMART’s strategic priorities.
• Work collaboratively with service leads and frontline teams to gather accurate, up-to-date data and service information for applications.
• Tailor applications to funder requirements and priorities, ensuring persuasive storytelling and alignment with SMART’s mission.
• Manage a pipeline of applications and submissions, ensuring deadlines are met and income targets are tracked.
• Maintain and build relationships with key funders, providing timely reports and updates on grant-funded work.
• Work to realistic targets and KPIS and be able to feedback on these.

2. Organisational Development and Support

• Contribute to the strategic development of SMART’s income generation plans.
• Support development of strong internal bid and grant management systems, including templates, case studies, and project reporting tools.
• Monitor success rates and provide monthly reporting on funding performance to the Head of Business.
• Represent SMART CJS at funding briefings, webinars, and networking opportunities where appropriate.

3. Other Responsibilities

• Participate in SMART’s performance management and appraisal process.
• Comply with health and safety policies and procedures.

About EduSpots

EduSpots is an innovative, dynamic, and community-driven UK and Ghanaian registered charity which connects, trains, and equips voluntary community educators (named ‘Catalysts’) to drive community-led change through education spaces named ‘Spots’. Our vision is of our world where communities unite to create the futures they want to see, through education.

Since 2016, through collaborating with over 400 local voluntary Catalysts, who take a central leadership role in the development of the network, we have supported 50 communities in creating and running community-led and owned education spaces named ‘Spots’’. Our Ghana-based team creates collaborative learning opportunities through three leadership programmes for Catalysts which are increasingly facilitated by the EduSpots app: the Ignite, Catalyse and Inspire Mentoring Programmes. These enable the Catalysts to lead EduKidz (early years education), DigLit (digital literacy), EcoSTEM (STEM and environmental education) and Ignite Equity (gender equity) clubs for learners typically aged 3-16, alongside locally designed education projects, reaching over 15,000 learners of all ages annually. About this role

We are looking for an engaging and dynamic fundraising specialist and team player with a proven track record of income generation through trusts and foundations, to take on this exciting new role at this exciting point of our organisational growth. 

Over the last two years, EduSpots has significantly grown its income through trusts and foundations, and advanced the quality, scope and reach of its operations in Ghana, with further plans for expansion in the years ahead. We are looking for an individual that understands the value of community-led change, with all our work centred on, and resulting from the actions of 400 locally-based educational Catalysts. 

Reporting directly to the CEO, you will take on the responsibility for growing our income generation with a focus on trusts and foundations. We are looking for an experienced individual, who is able to work closely with the CEO to develop larger fundraising partnerships at this exciting point in our development. 

Depending on availability and experience, this individual may oversee a small part-time fundraising team, comprising a Fundraising Manager, Trusts and Foundations Manager, and Communications Manager, alongside interns and other income-generation roles that may emerge. The role has the potential to grow into a ‘Head of Fundraising’ position over time.

Main Duties and Responsibilities 

The key responsibilities of this role are to:

• Lead the development and execution of a global fundraising strategy that focuses on medium-large and multi-year commitments from trusts and foundations, as well as potentially the development of corporate partnerships which align to EduSpots’ values and/or donations from major donors, dependent on experience. 
• Work with the CEO, and Ghana-based Heads of Programmes and Head of Operations to develop and write strategic programme and organisational bids, feeding into the wider strategic development of the organisation. 
• Create and implement robust policies and procedures for donor identification, cultivation and tracking to ensure efforts are coordinated at a global level and ensure that opportunities to acquire new supporters are fully explored.
• Work with the CEO and boards to identify potential new supporters through their networks, also taking an active role in networking to position EduSpots within key audiences for potential support. 
• Work with the CEO and Communications Manager to develop a compelling case for support and a suite of materials for donor engagement that can showcase the importance of EduSpots’ work internationally.
• Create bespoke stewardship plans for existing donors that demonstrate the impact of their support, foster mutual trust and secure renewed support for EduSpots’ work. 
• Oversee the organization of EduSpots’ relationships with trusts and foundations, and other major donors, including oversight of reporting, database management and wider communication, working closely with the CEO.
• Monitor and analyse philanthropic trends and best practices to enhance fundraising effectiveness.
• Ensure compliance with international fundraising regulations and ethical standards.
• Depending on experience and time availability, manage and mentor a team of fundraising professionals to achieve targets and organisational objectives. This includes an experienced trusts and foundations manager (1 day a week) with a focus on small-medium UK based family trusts, and wider community fundraising and communications roles in the team. 

Other:

• To contribute to the Charity’s fundraising and other strategies, as well as supporting the development of the annual business plan and budget, and assisting with the preparation of Annual Report and supporting the wider team with professional development. 
• Ensure all administrative tasks relating to the role are carried out accurately.
• To comply at all times with the organisation’s policies, procedures and performance expectations of staff as set out in the Staff and Catalysts Handbook.

Skills, Experience and Attributes

Essential

• Proven track record of income generation – ideally in a similar education / international development organisation.
• Extensive experience with writing compelling and successful grant applications, with a focus on 5 to 6 figures (GBP) in size. 
• Experience of establishing and managing effective relationships with trusts, foundations and grant-makers, and reporting to funds and donors, with strong database management. 
• Strong knowledge of a wide range of UK-based funders, as well as of some international (European / US based) funders.
• Strong understanding of programme development and management, ideally in the education context. 
• Some experience of communications and marketing in an NGO context is needed; experience of wider fundraising such as corporate partnerships, individual giving and campaigns may be an advantage but is not a requirement for this role. 
• Friendly and flexible team player, with an ability to work with people across diverse contexts, inspiring the team and wider colleagues towards achieving our shared goals. 
• Ability to work effectively in a remote based role with minimal day-to-day support 
• Outstanding interpersonal skills alongside excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to advocate for our work online and in person. 
• Experience of managing a team would be advantageous though not required for this role.

The Woodland Trust is looking for a Risk and Audit Officer - Partnerships to help support internal audits and risk management across the organisation.

The Role: 
•    This role is key to helping us provide independent assurance to the Board and Executive Leadership Team on the effectiveness of internal controls and risk management across the organisation.
•    You will support the Head of Risk and Assurance alongside the Risk Analyst - Partnerships and Partnerships Risk Group with assessing the risk of potential and ongoing partnerships against our Ethical Policy.

Then join Shelter as a Children & Families Support Worker and you could soon be playing a vital role aimed at minimising the impact of bad housing, homelessness and exclusion in the Sheffield area.

About the role

With your own caseload of families, you will act as their key worker and support them to either resettle or prevent homelessness. Your primary focus will be on households where some tailored interventions are required around the needs of the children in order to stabilise their housing situation and enable the family to thrive.

Accordingly, you will provide intensive, tailored support as part of a whole family approach in a 1-2-1 setting and through group work. You will also need to regularly visit clients’ homes, schools and community venues across the city and liaise with other agencies in the community in order to provide a co-ordinated service.

You have knowledge of child development and a strong understanding of homeless children and families, with experience of supporting parents, children and young people who have complex needs.  You also have knowledge of housing, homelessness and ASB legislation and welfare benefits that affect families and the skills to network and gather information as well as advocacy, negotiation and problem-solving skills.

You will need to be able to demonstrate that you have worked within, or understand, a safeguarding framework, are IT literate and have experience of managing a caseload and can prioritise, organise and set boundaries. With a full driving licence, you will have access to a vehicle for work purposes, an allowance and mileage will be paid.

THE ROLE

The Girls’ Network aspires to reach more girls and increase the impact we have, so the importance of a strategic, effective and evidence-based monitoring and evaluation system is paramount. The Monitoring, Evaluation, Research & Learning (MERL) Manager will ensure thoughtful, intelligent and consistent collection, collation and analysis of data which has the potential to publicly represent our girls’ needs and their aspirations.

Key roles and responsibilities

Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E)

• Develop and employ monitoring systems to support high-quality programme implementation.
• Maintain and employ existing data-collection and evaluation systems to evaluate past and ongoing programmes.
• Calculate impact indicators and support data-driven organisational decision- making.
• Management of our CRM systems to support the Fundraising Team with monitoring of their application pipelines.
• Further the organisation’s current potential to meaningfully contribute to public discourse on the experience of teenage girls in the UK, on social mobility, and on the future of women’s leadership using available and newly created resources, data and insights.
• Develop the above evaluation and research into recommendations; working with the team and independently to inform and plan the creation and implementation of a monitoring system for our impact process, based on evaluation findings, industry research, and overall strategy and objectives.
• Work with the Communications Manager to develop / create the visual design and communication strategy for M&E systems so as to engage stakeholders and to empower our team and our girls.
• Internally and externally champion the use of our impact data to influence broader discourse and policy on the experience of teenage girls in the UK, social mobility, and the future of women’s leadership.
• Identify and understand different stakeholders' needs for monitoring and impact data.
• Manage external consultants and other stakeholders to support evaluations of particular projects as required.
• Understand M&E technology solutions, with a specific focus on gender equity and gender justice.

Learning and Research

• Working with Fundraising colleagues, regularly update the charity's Case for Support, reviewing the latest evidence and data on social mobility, the experience of teenage girls in the UK, and the future of women’s leadership, among wider gender issues.
• Design and deliver engaging whole-team training to enable new monitoring and impact collection processes to be carried out effectively at all levels.
• Working with the People and Culture Manager, promote and model a culture of learning and continuous development within the organisation, by employing and complementing existing systems.

Reporting

• Prepare and present status reports for grant-giving bodies (such as The Millby Foundation) according to the requirements of the grant.
• Prepare and present regular status reports for the CEO, and the board of trustees, as required.
• Contribute up-to-date data and insights to the annual report as well as to other grant and donor reporting.
• Work collaboratively with the Fundraising Team to identify upcoming reporting deadlines to funders.
• Creating clear overviews of the impact data collected in evaluation surveys, for the Fundraising and Programme teams to disseminate to funders and partner schools.
• Support the senior leadership, finance, and fundraising team, by calculating and reporting on social return on investment.

Database/CRM (Salesforce) management

• Manage user access and permissions in order to maintain data security and safeguard sensitive information.
• Create and maintain documentation to support both technical and non- technical data processes.
• Regularly evaluate and update Salesforce objects, automations, and other features as needed in response to business need, staying up-to-date on Salesforce functionality and recommending improvements to SLT.
• Staff support via developing and reviewing Salesforce training, establishing relationships, and managing Salesforce queries ad-hoc and in regular clinics.
• Maintain and develop Salesforce reports and dashboards to monitor data quality.

Other duties

As a small charity with limited resources, all staff are expected to be flexible with their work and as such you may be required to undertake other duties and tasks as assigned from time to time.

Essential skills, knowledge and attributes

• Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to effectively employ, interpret and summarise qualitative and quantitative data from multiple sources.
• Highly organised with excellent database management skills.

Bowel Research UK is looking for an interim Research and Grants Manager to coordinate and evaluate the management of the charity’s research activities. This role covers all aspects of pre- and post-award research management, impact reporting, grant finance management and governance, co-ordination of the Charity’s scientific committees and shaping external scientific communications to supporters and other stakeholders. Additionally, you will foster and maintain strong relationships with researchers, serving as the primary point of contact for engaging with the research community. 

The charity has approximately 50 active research grants to the value of in the region of £1.5 million. The Interim Research & Grants Manager will be responsible for managing these. 

Bowel Research UK are bringing this role in as an interim position rather than permanent, to support the day-to-day duties whilst this post holder also supports with reviewing the research and grants functionality within the organization, and help senior leadership decide on future requirements. You will act as an internal consultant, using your career experience to critically assess and analyze the charity requirements and provide guidance and direction.  

This role would suit someone looking for a fresh and exciting challenge, who would be energized by both providing internal consultancy and managing the day-to-day.
