About us
Who we are
Age UK Nottingham & Nottinghamshire is the largest local independent charity providing a wide range of services for older people from all communities and backgrounds in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.
Our culture and values
Everything we do, we do to make a positive difference to everybody that we interact with. We show integrity and treat each other with respect, kindness, and compassion, celebrating our differences and our diverse community.
For Age UK Notts our ethical principles, behaviour and attitudes are enshrined in our values.
Our RIKI values are:
Respect
Giving attention to, and showing consideration for the feelings, wishes and rights of others.
Integrity
The act of behaving honourably, even when no one is watching. People with integrity follow moral and ethical principles in all aspects of life, both personally and professionally.
Kindness & Compassion
Kindness is the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate.
Compassion is different. To have compassion for others you must notice that they are distressed; it involves feeling moved by others' distress to the point where you actively want to help them.
Compassion without action is just observation.
Having compassion also means that you offer understanding and kindness to others when they fail or make mistakes, rather than judging them.
Inclusion
Inclusion is where everyone feels that they belong through feeling safe in being themselves, that their contribution matters, and a diverse range of people are supported to work together effectively.
These values are the foundation of everything we stand for.
