The successful candidate will:
- Work hand-in-hand with the Board of Trustees to take TBPP to its next phase, securing sustainable funding, growing our volunteer base, and building strong governance
- Manage and support our small team in a respectful and motivational way, engaging their skills and expertise successfully so the team is more than the sum of its parts
- Forge strong links with all our partners, creating opportunities, including with our main referral partner, Cardiff & Vale University Health Board
- Make significant strides in measuring impact, with a view to using our evidence for improvement and growth
Main tasks
- Consistently put the women and birthing people we work with at the heart of our charity, seeking their views, staying connected to our service offering, monitoring impact, and seeking to improve what we do.
- Oversee the operational delivery of our services on a day-to-day basis, keeping our team members and volunteers on track towards a shared aim.
- Manage and motivate our small team (and by extension our team of volunteers) in a respectful and engaging way, in line with all policy and procedure, to enable them to fulfil and expand into their roles.
- Proactively work with the Trustee Board to deliver excellent governance: building a strong relationship between the Board and the day-to-day operations, making sure the right systems and processes are in place and are adhered to.
- Support the Board to ensure the charity complies with its legal responsibilities, and delivers its activities in line with all relevant regulation and guidance.
- Manage the charity's finances: working directly with the Finance Officer and the treasurer to set financial aspirations, build effective fundraising pipelines, and then robustly manage daily financial activities with real attention to detail.
- Report effectively to the Board, and communicate clearly with the team, to keep everyone on track and in the loop, including robust and regular financial reporting.
- Develop realistic but aspirational plans for the charity in line with its objects, balancing risk and opportunity, and seeking a long-term sustainable future for The Birth Partner Project.
- Demonstrate a continuous and strong focus on delivery, taking the initiative to act decisively and intentionally to drive the work of The Birth Partner Project forward in line with its plans.
- Represent The Birth Partner Project externally, and seek to grow its network of partners in ways which strengthen its service offering and/or sustainability into the future.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
- A range of experience working in the statutory or third sector
- A thorough understanding of what makes for good charity governance, including setting up and operating effective processes for managing risk, finance, HR, data and information
- Skilled and personable manager and leader, able to motivate and manage team members and volunteers
- Excellent communication skills, able to liaise with a diverse range of stakeholders
- Superb organisational skills, able to work with a very high degree of personal motivation and autonomous problem-solving
- Experience of working with volunteers and overseeing volunteer management
- Understanding of the UK asylum system
Desirable Criteria
- Previous experience leading a small charity
- Experience of working with/to a board of trustees
- Lived experience of the asylum system in the UK
- Understanding of maternal health systems in the UK, particularly in Wales
- Experience of taking organisations through change

Partnership Manager - Wales
Location: The role will be based out of the BookTrust Offices in Cardiff. BookTrust works in a hybrid and flexible way with an expectation of a minimum of 8 face to face collaboration days per month which could be at the Cardiff office, visiting partners across Wales and on occasions UK wide travel. There will therefore be reasonable travel needed to fulfil the role, with occasional overnight stays.

The role will also involve ensuring the successful delivery of a set of BookTrust’s programmes and activities so strong organisational skills, experience of collaborating with different internal functional teams and being thorough and meticulous will be necessary attributes.
The Partnerships Manager will also contribute to the development of new activities and programmes and lead on the programme training and national and regional events for Wales so experience of devising and implementing new programmes and training would be advantageous.

Community Engagement Coordinator - Wales

About the Role
Located in Bath, this is a busy shop in a brilliant location, with a vibrant community! As Shop Manager, you'll be leading the volunteer team, as well as focusing on further recruitment to grow our volunteer team and building strong connections within the local community to ensure the shop's continued success.
About You
You will be someone with exceptional people skills, a leader who understands the importance of community and enjoys supporting people to exercise similar passions through volunteering.
You'll bring:
- Proven experience leading and motivating teams, ideally having managed volunteers, or a retail team previously
- A strong understanding of what good looks like in a busy and successful community-led shop, ideally with some experience within Retail or a clear passion for sustainable fashion and knowledge of products and trends
- A can-do attitude and ability to approach challenges in a positive way, knowing when to reach out for support and guidance where you need it.
Previous charity retail experience is ideal, but not essential. If you have transferable leadership skills or experience managing volunteers in other settings and are looking for a new challenge, we'd love to hear from you!
Ways of Working: On-site – this role will be based in the Bath shop. We're looking for someone able to work 5 days (35 hours) per week to include some weekend working.

About the role:

How you will make a difference
Your role will enable inclusive, empowering and efficient people operations workflows at GFI Europe. Reporting to the Head of Operations, your work will fall under the following categories:
- Manage the People Operations function, including line managing two team members.

Who we’re looking for
You must have:

Women’s Aid is the national charity working to end domestic abuse against women and children. We are a federation of over 170 organisations which provide just under 300 local lifesaving services to women and children across England. Purpose of the Senior Quality Assurance Officer role:
As Senior Quality Assurance Officer, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in conducting and innovating Women’s Aid’s National Quality Standards (NQS) offer for member services. Sitting within Women’s Aid’s busy Membership Team, the postholder will successfully lead in supporting member services to continually improve and evidence good quality specialist responses to survivors’ needs in local service provision and will support the internal team alongside external consultant assessors to deliver a strong quality framework that reflects the diversity, and complex work of our members. A key time for Women’s Aid to connect our policy work, our membership and our strategic campaigning work around the standards that fully represents the unique value of the membership body.
Key duties and responsibilities of the Senior Quality Assurance Officer:
- To be responsible for the coordination of delivery of Women’s Aid National Quality Standards assessments including ensuring assessment processes are completed in a timely manner.
- Scheduling Quality Assessment Panels including recruitment of panelists. This will include responsibility for ensuring terms of reference are fulfilled and ensuring potential conflicts of interest are identified and addressed.
- Presenting assessments to the Quality Assessment Panel in the unavoidable absence of the assessor and notetaking including recording outcomes, actions and decisions where required.
- To support the Chair of the Quality Assessment Panel in conducting panel meetings and highlight areas of risk or conflict to the Chair in advance of meetings.
- Be first point of contact for dealing with appeals and complaints, managing low to middle-risk complaints and escalating to the Membership Resolution Manager as required for high risk complaints.
- Responsibility for allocation of assessments to internal and consultant assessors ensuring target dates are met and operational considerations, such as location and conflict of interests, are considered.
- To conduct quality standards assessments of domestic abuse services, including reviewing evidence, making site visits, writing assessment reports and presenting cases to the Quality Assessment Panel.
- Review of assessment reports for quality, adherence to standards and consistency prior to presentation at Quality Assessment Panel, including giving feedback to the assessor and ensuring this is actioned.
- Develop a clear strategy and delivery plans to support the sustainability and growth of the Women’s Aid National Quality standards including supporting increase of income-generation activities.
- Line management of Quality Assurance Officer including day-to-day support, supervision and appraisal activities.
- To work across WAFE to promote the Women’s Aid National Quality Standards to commissioners and government as the ‘gold standard’ quality framework for services working with women and child survivors of domestic violence.
What we are looking for in our Senior Quality Assurance Officer:
- Knowledge of quality frameworks appropriate to domestic violence services.
- Knowledge and proven experience of the principles of quality assurance and good practice in delivering accreditation processes.
- A very good understanding of the experiences and needs of women and children affected by domestic and sexual violence and violence against women and girls and the intersectionality that impacts this
