We're recruiting for someone to lead our public engagement work on climate and nature and ensure that the public are involved in critical decisions on how to reach net zero and protect the future of nature and land in the UK.

This exciting role will lead and coordinate our work with institutions, and others, to find a way through difficult issues like low emission zones, the energy transition, industrialisation of green spaces and other challenges in a way that centres the people who are impacted, with a social justice and equity lens. This role will primarily sit within our Innovation and Practice (I&P) function - focused on practical delivery of public engagement such as citizen assemblies, juries and other deliberative processes. The successful candidate will lead several of our major climate change and nature projects, including the UKRI Net Zero Living project - working with 28 Councils to embed meaningful public participation in their route to net zero. You will also contribute to the training, standards setting and advocacy work that Involve does - maintaining and growing our reputation in climate and environment networks and communicating the contribution we can make and impact that we are having.

We have a significant track record in public deliberation on climate change. We ran the first Climate Assembly in the UK and have since delivered many projects in this area including the People’s Plan for Nature. We have developed a reputation for best practice public dialogue, deliberation and capacity building. We want to grasp the opportunity for deliberative practices to make a real contribution to the change needed to respond to the climate crisis. This is a great opportunity to play a central role in taking this work forward. We are looking for someone to bring experience in designing and running participatory and deliberative processes and a good understanding of the complexities and challenges of climate and/or nature. You will need to be committed to taking a collaborative approach -  co-creating and coordinating our strategy on public engagement across the organisation and build on the work that others are doing.

As part of Midland Air Ambulance Charity’s (MAAC) corporate team, the Corporate Partnership Executive is responsible for taking a proactive approach to raising the profile of the charity and deepening relationships with businesses in the communities we serve.

You will provide support to the Senior Partnership Executive and the wider team helping to implement the corporate fundraising strategy via in person and online engagement methods, leading on activity within Staffordshire.

Your focus will be to ensure income growth from corporate sources and activity comprising of new business development, account management and affinity partnerships.  As a longstanding charity, we have established networks in place, however alongside this the post holder will need to innovate and develop new ways of working in line with the ever-changing external environment (i.e., global/national trends, corporate best practise such as CSR and ESG) as well as in response to opportunities and challenges happening in the south of our region.

The Estate Officer will ensure the delivery of the regional maintenance programme, comprising routine, periodic, planned and urgent works, and the delivery of time limited maintenance consultancy and estate management projects. Working alongside the Conservation Projects Manager, the post holder will ensure regional estate compliance with CCT policies.

The post holder will be the main contact for all maintenance related matters and will maintain the property management records for the estate, develop volunteer projects and training on maintenance reporting and conservation cleaning and will assist with fundraising.

About the role:

On the back of continued growth due to successful fundraising performance over the last 5 years, we are ready to take the next step in our fundraising strategy and launch a Philanthropy Giving programme. The Outreach Lead will work collaboratively with the Outreach Manager and will involve engaging new referral partners ensuring that they aware of the support available. Referral partners may be charities, job centres, community organisations or work programme providers. By attending meetings, events and employment fairs the Outreach Lead will share the service Smart Works offers and ensure the women who will benefit from the appointments are referred. The role will also involve delivering workshops to unemployed women across Bradford in various settings and managing a cohort of volunteers to help support these.

Working closely with our service delivery and outreach teams, you will be responsible for talking clients through the service; scheduling appointments; answering queries; and providing check-in calls.This person will attend events with an Outreach Lead to convert client referrals into appointments swiftly.

Along with the communication with clients, the Client Services Coordinator will also liaise with our volunteer team, providing them with the necessary information about each client to ensure that their appointment is tailored to their needs, and they feel comfortable at each stage of their journey with Smart Works.

You will be joining a large team of Money Advisers providing specialist level debt and benefit advice and casework. 

We have 2 posts available - 1 based in our Brighton and Hove office, and the second either based in our office, but fully remote working possible.  For both posts you will have lots of variety, providing telephone specialist debt and benefit advice and casework across a range of projects.  If you are based in our office you will also deliver face-to-face advice both in the office and other outreach locations including Foodbanks and with inpatients.

No one day will be the same and as part of the regional team, you will be the local face and voice of the Fund on the ground. A mission-driven and impact focused single programme NGO is seeking an Interim Finance Director for a 1 year maternity cover contract. The role is fully remote (from within the UK) and is full-time (5 days per week) for a 12 month contract. There may be the requirement to travel to Ghana on occasion throughout the 12 months. A busy role, in a vibrant charity headed by a passionate Founder/CEO – the role represents the chance to be part of a fantastic international organisation.

Salary is £63,000 - £70,000 depending on skills and experience, and the role would best suit a fully-qualified accountant with significant experience managing global finance teams within the international development sector.

The organisation’s mission is to get 3-6 year old children in rural Africa to thrive.  They have developed an award-winning Early Childhood Development programme, proven its impact through rigorous evaluation, and scaled it with governments in both Ghana and Uganda. It is currently reaching over 300,000 children per year, and we aim to reach 1 million children per year by 2028. The programme benefits both preschool age children and unlocks the potential of marginalised rural parents.

With around 100 staff globally, the interim Finance Director will manage a diverse team of finance professionals. Your role will include setting and managing budgets, supporting fundraising strategy and proposals, overseeing spend and financial controls and processes.  You will lead the finance team in Ghana made up of a Junior Finance Manager, four Finance Officers, two bookkeepers and a Procurement and Logistics Officer.  You will also manage the Uganda Finance Officer, and Global Finance Manager based in the UK.

The role will involve a mixture of hands-on accounting, complex donor reporting, consolidated and year-end accounts, budgeting, forecasting, scenario planning and financial modelling. Xero is used across the organisation, and financial year-end is December.

Duties include:

· Contribute to the development and implementation of the organisation’s scale and income-generation strategy, including exciting new opportunities for potential expansion to the southern regions in Ghana and exploring implementation of the programme in a new country.

· Develop and strengthen robust and flexible cost models (including sensitivity analyses/stress testing) to guide decisions around the pace and rate of scale, staffing & resource requirements, ensure value for money and maximise cost efficiencies.

· Develop robust budgets for new and renewal funder applications, considering complexities around funder restrictions, currency exchange and forecast economic conditions.

· Ensure that the organisation-wide financial systems, policies, procedures and internal controls and audits are robust, compliant and best practice to support current activities and future growth.

· Be pro-active in identifying ways to improve efficiencies and strengthen financial rigour, including leading on internal projects to enhance systems and processes to automate approvals and develop cost recovery models as we look to expand our operations outside Ghana and Uganda.

· Lead and coach the finance team to maintain and deliver operational excellence & financial rigour, closely monitoring the operating and financial reports against plans and budgets.

· Lead monthly financial reviews and oversee timely production of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports to the Board, donors and management team.

· Work with our internal operations and programmes team to develop financial systems so that direct financial support is provided to local government partners and they are able to take on responsibility for and account for programme budgets, including overseeing termly financial disbursements and reporting.

· Work with programmes team to build the capacity of local government partners in financial management, procurement, and budgeting so that they will eventually be able to fund and sustain the programme themselves. Create the budgets, financial information, documentation and materials for funding proposals.

· Oversee the creation of all financial reports for funders, ensuring mechanisms to track and report against restricted income are robust, and preparing financial analyses for funder

· Provide monthly and quarterly management accounts for trustees summarising current and forecast financial position for the year, cashflow analysis and KPI reporting.

· Attend trustee meetings, present information to the Board and liaise with Board members, including leading the quarterly Finance and Audit Committee meetings.

· Ensure that the Statutory Accounts for all entities are prepared, including internal information is collated and provided, external auditors are instructed and deliver to standard.

· Ensure all organisations are compliant with tax, regularity and legal requirements (e.g payroll, tax, NGO registration, insurance, registrations with regulatory authorities)

· Actively manage the performance and build the capacity of direct reports through training, coaching, holding 1to1s, setting performance goals, appraisals, developing new policies and practices.

Requirements: 

-Fully-qualified ACCA, CIMA, ACA essential

-Prior experience working as Head of Finance or Finance Director in an international development charity (NGO)

-Prior experience managing a global team

-Deep understanding of international charity finance - donor reporting, programmes finance, foreign currency transactions

About us

Parallel Academy is an ambitious charitable initiative founded by Simon Singh, best known as the author of Fermat’s Last Theorem. We currently support over 3,000 students through our maths enrichment activities, around 700 of whom receive dedicated weekly, small-group online tutorials in The Parallel Academy. Our mission is to support students on our programmes to fulfil their mathematical potential, by providing them with the opportunity to develop their reasoning and problem-solving skills beyond the curriculum. Our students are motivated and ambitious. Although our maths programme is optional and takes place outside of school hours, students have an average attendance above 95%.

Overview

Our team is broadly divided into two arms, administrative and educational, and we are seeking a Director of Education to steer the latter. This is a senior role responsible for ensuring that our offerings are aligned to our expectations and pedagogical aims, and for helping to scale the project to reach thousands more students each year. We are a growing organisation and have made significant strides since our inception, but believe there is room to strengthen and expand our offering.

We are searching for an experienced maths leader who is excited, not only to sustain our current model, but to help build and scale-up our work in different directions. We would love to find someone who:

Key responsibilities

• Line-manage members of the core ‘maths team’, providing mentorship and support.
• Direct our growing team of tutors, from onboarding to training and week-to-week support, ensuring that all students benefit from consistently high standards of teaching.
• Develop enough awareness of the administrative side of our work to deputise for the COO when needed, and to suggest improvements across our day-to-day processes.
• Undertake key teaching responsibilities across the week, especially for ‘high-tariff’ sessions (e.g. homework review sessions) that only our best tutors are entrusted with.
• Advise on and implement policies for working with schools during and after admissions, ensuring that schools remain engaged with us at key points in the year and holding them to account for providing necessary inputs (e.g. nominations, UKMT scores).
• Identify and develop relationships with external partners (school groups, maths hubs and other key organisations) to expand the reach of the Academy. Many of these will come from your own network of maths contacts.
• Help to shape and build on our ethos of high expectations, which translates into concrete policies regarding attendance, homework, participation and criteria for both admitting and removing students from our Tutorial Programme.
• Provide key input into new offerings such as a more ambitious primary programme, a Further Maths programme and university application support for sixth form students.

Undertake any other tasks commensurate with the role and which may be reasonably required.

Requirements

• BA and/or PGCE in Mathematics
