This is an incredible role at a prominent assistance dog charity where your role will be a part of our essential work that transforms lives every day.

What you will do:

Working alongside the Director of Finance and Resources you will ensure the charity's finances are utilised in line with our mission. Leading an established and dedicated team of two, you will oversee all the financial activities, reporting and analysis, whilst improving and maintaining tight financial controls. Undertaking a number of routine tasks, you will also manage monthly management accounts, journals, and year-end accounts.

It is an exciting time to join us, as the charity marks its 35th anniversary this year and we will be doing a lot to celebrate! We have recently launched our 5-year plan, which has been shaped in a large part by the finances and financial modelling; this work will continue to become more detailed and accurate as we move through the 5-year plan, which you will play a key part in supporting using honed modelling, projecting and problem-solving skills.

What we are looking for:

• Qualified accountant (CIPFA/CIMA/FCA/ACA/ACCA) with relevant senior financial experience.
• Strong ICT skills including database (Office 365, MS Excel in particular).
• Broad experience of budget management and strategic planning (ideally in charitable settings but not essential).
• Flexibility, adaptability and ability to use initiative.
• Strong organisation skills and ability to manage deadlines.
• Proven experience of working within a financial environment and use of sophisticated digital accounting software.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.

It may be advantageous, though not essential, to have experience working in a related field or knowledge of the Charities Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP).

DAY-TO-DAY TASKS will include:

QUALIFICATIONS WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Required:

• University Degree or equivalent lived/professional experience.
• Minimum 3 years of prior relevant experience, including professional experience in international affairs.

• Demonstrated interpersonal skills including diplomacy, tact, and negotiation abilities.
• Superior analytical and writing skills, and experience conducting desk research.

Salary: Circa £34,000 per annum.

A bit about the role 

As Relationship Manager, as part of a friendly and collaborative team, you will drive the community fundraising strategy with focus on the growth of unrestricted income by galvanizing fundraising support from a growing sports portfolio, local corporates, volunteer fundraising groups and the public. This post will focus on achieving agreed financial income targets and relevant KPI's in either Wales or London and surrounding areas.

How you'll help to create brighter futures by

• Managing and deliver fundraising campaigns and activities across a specific geographic area (London or Wales) to achieve significant income growth in line with the fundraising strategy and to also support other fundraising initiatives progressed by Action for Children.
• Researching and developing volunteer group prospects to create a pipeline of opportunities.
• Securing support for the sports portfolio, encouraging the public to run, walk, cycle for Action for Children.
• Securing support and introductions to potential funders and fundraisers i.e. local businesses, supporters, sports clubs, schools etc and build and sustain relationships.
• Securing and setting up 'Action Squads', for volunteer led fundraising groups to successfully fundraise and raise awareness in a specific geographic area (Wales or London) and to obtain support for the sports portfolio, encouraging the public to run, walk, cycle for Action for Children.
• Always demonstrating accountability to supporters and volunteers and operating with openness, honesty, transparency and consistent with all current Fundraising regulatory standards, data protection, VAT and Gift Aid legislation.
• Managing and delivering on set financial targets and outcomes set across the specific geographic area (London or Wales).
• Monitoring and analyse financial income and expenditure, ensuring forecasted income has been received and banked.

• Professional Institute of Fundraising qualification (desirable.)
• Membership of IoF (desirable).
• Demonstrable track record of continual achievement leading and delivering fundraising in a specific geographic area.
• Proven understanding supplier agreements, contracts, funding agreements and where these are affected by VAT and other Fundraising legislation.
• Knowledge and understanding of tax efficient giving in the UK.
• Ability to manage challenging situations and to ensure the delivery of events and fundraising activity in a safe and professional manner.
• Proven experience of networking and influencing to achieved desired outcomes.
• Ability to demonstrate a high level of discretion when dealing with HNWIs and organisations.
• Proven ability to project manage a team of fundraisers to achieve against specific financial goals where appropriate.

The role

As Corporate Partnerships Executive you will be responsible for raising the profile of the Charity in Shropshire and Herefordshire and building relationships with Corporate companies across the counties.

You will be responsible for developing a Corporate pipeline as well as nurturing existing long lasting corporate relationships. You will be working with the Corporate Partnerships Manager to deliver the fundraising strategy and grow income too.

About You

As a Corporate Partnership Executive we would love you to have experience of the following;

• Experience of building and maintaining successful relationships with customers, clients and/or supporters
• Sales or income generation experience
• Experience of coordinating tasks, people, and activities
• Experience of working in multidisciplinary teams and with a range of stakeholders
• Experience of general office administration
• Experience of communicating with a wide range of audiences
• Experience of working unsupervised with the ability to drive and generate own workload.
• Public speaking
• Understanding of corporate CSR and ESG polices will be beneficial

Although some fundraising experience would be desirable, this really could be the role for you if you are wanting to move into a career within the third sector.

This role is home based within Shropshire or Herefordshire. There will be some travel across the regions and to the Head Office for meetings. The Policy Officer will be key to helping the Joint Policy Unit achieve these objectives.

The role-holder will support the unit in delivering on our programme of policy work, and to support our external engagement so that saving babies’ lives is a key part of NHS/government policy across the UK. This will include work on a range of projects and outputs. The role-holder will play a lead role in supporting the unit’s responses to government consultations and inquiries, and engagement with new strategies and plans for the health service.

We are looking for someone with an understanding of the policy environment, ability to analyse policy and develop high-quality written outputs. You will be a great communicator with the ability to  translate insights into clear messages for different audiences (e.g. policymakers, stakeholders, supporters and the public).

Experience of leading and managing projects is essential for this role, as is a clear understanding of the relationship between research, policy and practice. Additionally, you will need to have a good understanding of the current policy environment as it relates to reducing baby loss and tackling inequalities, as well as enthusiasm for continued learning and a willingness to adapt to changing circumstances.

About the Role

As a passionate professional in the identification, development and management of a wide range of relationships in support of our programme partnership, you will ensure the Career Ready programme in Glasgow and West areas (currently Inverclyde, West Dunbartonshire, Renfrewshire and South Lanarkshire) continues to thrive, which includes securing charitable donations from supporting partners. Your responsibilities for the area, will be as a team of two, alongside our other Regional Manager for Glasgow and West areas given this is our largest area in Scotland.

This role requires experience of partnership and account management and the scale and ambition of our social mobility work means you will need to be well organised, confident and able to positively influence a wide range of people including headteachers, teachers, CEOs and HRDs.

You will identify and approach opportunities that are well researched and pursue with unswerving perseverance. It’s also a great chance to develop personally.

Regional Managers are responsible for leading our work which involves growing, developing and maintaining the employer and education partnerships that deliver the Career Ready programme. This includes the Local Advisory Board, local authorities (key stakeholders), schools (we have a member of staff in each school who coordinates), the Developing the Young Workforce Regional Group, and the many employer organisations and their people who volunteer as mentors, provide paid internships and deliver masterclasses.

By assimilating what, why, when and the how of our work, you will be able to:

1. Lead, grow and develop our Career Ready partnership in Glasgow and the West, optimising the programme experience for all stakeholders and securing the engagement of employer support for the programme of approximately 300+ students each year who will participate in the 18-month long Career Ready programme annually.
2. Support programme delivery, stakeholder engagement and business development by working closely with the Career Ready Glasgow & West Local Advisory Board, the other Career Ready Glasgow & West Regional Manager, the Head of Programme & Operations, Partnerships Manager and the Career Ready Regional Manager Scotland team all who are focused on quality, impact and sustainability underpinned by attention to detail via efficient and effective processes. You will be supported by and work with the Career Ready Scotland Operations Team to maintain thorough data and management information for the area.
