The Associate Director of Membership and Engagement is a significant role with responsibility for ensuring that the College has a strong, modern approach to its membership engagement, brand and marketing activities as well as promoting compelling and innovative online and offline content.
As Associate Director of Membership and Engagement, you will lead and develop the College’s membership engagement strategy and lead on communications planning, as well as managing the Membership Team, Creative, Content and Marketing Team and Events Team.
With the Heads and their teams driving delivery, you will be responsible for overseeing coherent delivery of these functions as well as leading on the College-wide strategy.
Responsible for driving the creation and continuous improvement of the member value proposition through effective partnerships with divisions across the College, key partners and most critically our members, you will lead the delivery of our digital first approach to communications activity, taking best advantage of multimedia channels of communications.
Reporting to the Executive Director of Membership, Policy & External Affairs, and deputising when necessary, you will foster cross-functional collaboration, working with other divisions to align our communications and engagement activity. You will also take responsibility for our membership and annual conference income, identifying opportunities for growth to maximise influence and impact.
This is a fast-paced, busy and exciting role that will see you juggling reputational risk, working closely with the Executive Director and wider Extended Leadership Team and Senior Leadership Team. You will find opportunities to further awareness and understanding of the College’s work.
Educated to degree level or with equivalent professional experience, you should have a background in membership operations or of delivering membership services and events and have an excellent grasp of what it takes to run effective, high-profile member engagement activities.
You will be skilled at leading multi-disciplinary teams and be a big-picture thinker who is excellent at making things happen at pace in a complex organisation. A natural creative with outstanding communications instincts, you should have proven knowledge and experience of developing and delivering high-impact, highly integrated communications and campaigns.
With a successful track record of directing the development of an organisation's digital presence including use of digital tools and search engine optimisation, and continuous feedback tools, you will also have the planning and organisational skills to formulate long-term strategic plans to benefit the College-wide strategy.
Excellent liaison and consultation skills and the ability to persuade at a senior level as well as experience of public speaking are essential. Membership of an appropriate professional body – e.g. CIM, would be desirable.
The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health sets and maintains standards for the education and training of all doctors working in paediatrics and child health in the UK. Duties and Key Responsibilities
1. Content development:
- Work with the Information and Content Officer to research, write, edit and produce new information materials including print publications, web pages, videos, infographics and social media content.
- Work in line with Sarcoma UK’s information production process, including:
- Liaise with clinical experts and lived experience reviewers throughout the content development process
- Maintain formal systems within the information production process in line with the PIF tick quality mark
- Ensure all new content meets clinical standards, brand guidelines, plain English principles, and accessibility requirements.
- Be an advocate for best practice in content design and user experience.
2. Content updates & maintenance:
- Maintain a schedule of review and updates to existing print and digital information resources to ensure accuracy and alignment with the PIF quality mark.
- Manage a comprehensive database to track all information resources and versions, and proactively manage stock levels.
3. Content promotion & distribution:
- Work with colleagues to create promotional content for Sarcoma UK's information resources across multiple channels.
- Utilise social media platforms to extend reach and engagement with target audiences.
- Collaborate with communications and digital teams on content publishing and marketing.
4. Administration & reporting:
- Manage the information and content production process in line with the PIF tick quality mark
- Undertake an annual audit of the performance of our printed information and manage the PIF assessment process
- Monitor and report on the impact of print and digital content to inform continuous improvement
- Manage budgets for content production, ensuring efficient use of resources
- Set and monitor KPIs for information resources, ensuring progress against organisational goals
5. External relationships:
- Work closely with healthcare professionals to ensure expert input and review is integrated into the development of new information and content.
- Work with our involvement network to co-create content and ensure it reflects diverse lived experiences
- Collaborate with external organisations to partner on our information and extend our reach.
6. Innovation and Evaluation:
- Explore new areas for improving and developing digital and print content, including improving web accessibility, incorporating more patient stories, and making our content more visual.
- Explore new models to evaluate impact of our resources on patients, families, carers, and healthcare professionals
- Explore and implement SEO strategies to improve the discoverability of digital content
7. Line Management:
- Provide line management, day-to-day supervision, and support the learning and development of the Information and Content Officer.
8. General:
- Gain and develop knowledge of sarcoma, keeping up to date with developments in the field
- Work collaboratively with teams across the organisation, developing effective working relationships and participating effectively in cross-organisational projects
- Attend Sarcoma UK events and take part in Sarcoma UK’s wider work.

We have an exciting opportunity for an eLearning Manager to join our team. This position is based in the Education Innovation Department.

Well House is a crisis house supported accommodation service that supports individuals for between 14 and 28 days as an alternative to requiring hospital admission for their mental health needs. The service works closely in partnership with a multi-disciplinary team in order to meet individual needs, manage risk and support individuals to achieve positive outcomes.
The service operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to ensure members of the local community are able to access critical mental health support at all hours. The service receives referrals primarily from a local hospital emergency department and crisis lines, and may receive these referrals at any time of day or night.
Role includes shift working including weekends, evenings and bank holidays.

We are seeking an exceptional Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead our global Finance and Operations functions, driving operational excellence and delivering strategic impact in line with our 2024-2030 strategy. Role Purpose:
This role oversees a team of community support workers and volunteers, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations. As part of a small, dynamic team, the Service Delivery Manager will contribute to fundraising, communications, and event management, while supporting the Director of Operations, Engagement, and Services in executing strategic priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management

Bringing the Mast Cell Activation Syndrome community together
Our client is a small UK rare disease charity. Our client established at the end of 2015 to respond to Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS). MCAS is a crippling, unpredictable and frightening condition affecting the immune system. Sufferers from MCAS have “wrongly programmed” immune systems that react to a wide range of triggers including food, drink, stress, temperature and many others. The effects range from unpleasant allergic reactions, through to an overall debilitation resulting in people being unable to leave their houses. It was first recognised internationally in 1990, with a set of diagnostic criteria agreed in 2011, but is little known or understood in the UK, where incidence seems to be increasing. Here patients can wait 3-5 years for a diagnosis, often receive very little knowledge or help from within the medical establishment and can find themselves in a frightening limbo.
