Are you a detail orientated cashier looking for a rewarding opportunity to develop your skills in a fast paced environment? 

We have an opportunity for someone to join the finance department, supporting the Financial Controller, and our busy team to maintain all St Mungo’s cashbooks. Other key responsibilities will be:

• Facilitate and co-ordinate with the Credit Controller and Payments Supervisor matching/allocation of cash received by the Sales/Purchase Ledger.

• Provide weekly banking transactions download reports to rents and fundraising teams to facilitate cash recording. 

• Provide excellent customer service responding to requests for Faster Payments and processing these in accordance with relevant policies, including policies on avoidance of fraud. 

• Administrator for the credit card, cash card and expenses facilities

• Prepare month end bank reconciliations for review by the Financial Controller. 

In this role you will be required to work at least 2 days per week from our Central Office in Tower Hill, London. This allows for training team building, line management and other relationship building opportunities. We are looking for a proactive detail orientated individual with experience of reconciling and maintaining multiple cashbooks in a busy environment. You should also have:

About this key role

As our specialist worker you will provide peer supervisory support to the team within the wider hospital based services, which includes deputising for the Senior Caseworker, and supporting the Data Coordinator and Senior Caseworker with the collation of information and data for project monitoring purposes. We will also count on you to develop and maintain strong relationships with clinicians and hospital staff, while also identifying onward referral pathways with other services in the hospital such as CAMHS, IDVA, COMPASS and other statutory and voluntary sectors in the community.

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will also help to identify and assess young victims of violence and to provide support, advice and advocacy for both them and their families as they plan to be discharged from hospital back into the community. You will produce support and risk management plans based on your assessments and deliver a holistic support service that includes practical help such as social and housing support, accompanying to appointments, ETE options, benefits work, appearing in court, DIY work and cleaning.

• Personal experience of the criminal justice system, lived experience of the issues facing this client group and/or experience of working with ‘high risk’, vulnerable children, young people and/or families.
• Experience in working as part of a multi-agency team, working together to achieve positive outcomes for young people and establishing links to further the aims of a project.
• Experience of using support plans to enable people to successfully access support services.
• Substantial experience of engaging successfully with ‘challenging’ young people.

Chance to Shine is a national children’s charity. We change young people’s lives through cricket giving them the opportunity to play, learn and develop through the sport. StreetLink London is a bespoke assessment and response telephone service for people who are rough sleeping in London, supported by volunteers. Building on St Mungo’s extensive experience of supporting people sleeping rough through a range of face-to-face services, this innovative service aims to reduce the incidences of subsequent rough sleeping amongst people who have not slept rough before and increase the speed with which those who have a history of rough sleeping can access support and accommodation.

As an Assessment and Response Worker you will:

• Answer phone calls from people experiencing homelessness in London and deliver a high quality of customer service

• Triage online referrals from the website and the app, to connect people who are rough sleeping with local outreach teams as quickly as possible.

• Carry out comprehensive telephone assessments, identifying immediate options for accommodation and support while confidently responding to emergency situations and safeguarding concerns.

• Advocate on behalf of people with relevant statutory and non-statutory services to ensure clients can access the support and accommodation they are entitled to as quickly as possible.

• Train, motivate and support volunteers so they can provide a high quality, responsive service to everyone contacting StreetLink London.

January 2024 marked the beginning of a new organisational strategy for Transaid, with strategic partnerships (with companies both in the UK and globally) a significant part of the agenda. As well as looking to strengthen existing relationships, business development is a core part of this role. Working alongside the Head of Fundraising, you will be confident in scoping, pitching and winning new partnerships.

You will enjoy working as part of a small and impactful fundraising team who support each other to achieve great success. The ideal candidate must be open to regular UK travel (particularly to the Midlands) for events and meetings with a range of transport and logistics companies, and be open to some potential African travel.

EDI Committee Chair

We are looking for an EDI Committee Chair who will ensure that EDI-BIIDE runs through all that we do, in a way that aligns with our strategic objectives and our resources.

About the Role

We are looking for an EDI Committee Chair to provide direction to the organisation’s EDI-BIIDE Work and to lead the EDI-BIIDE Committee, ensuring alignment between the organisation’s EDI-BIIDE Action Plan and the organisation’s three-year strategy and resources.

You will ensure EDI-BIIDE is consolidated into all aspects of our work – for our members, our staff and, crucially, for the public with whom we and our members interact professionally. You will embed good governance practices in everything the Committee and its members undertake, abiding by the Nolan principles.

The EDI Committee Chair will lead with confidence and collaborate effectively across the organisation to champion the work of the Committee and be accountable to the Board of Trustees for delivery.

Key responsibilities include:

• In liaison with the EDI-BIIDE Committee, to review the organisation’s EDI-BIIDE work to date, and to devise a revised EDI-BIIDE Action Plan that aligns with the organisation’s three-year strategy and resources.
• Lead the EDI-BIIDE Committee and ensure the Committee’s business is conducted collaboratively and methodically and that the Committee takes decisions within its authorised powers (as delegated by the Board of Trustees).
• Liaise with the organisation’s Board of Trustees, staff, and other committee chairs on the Committee’s work.
• Ensure decisions taken by the Committee are clear and unambiguous, and that responsibility for taking forward action points is properly allocated.
• Attend events and other external events as required, acting as an ambassador for the organisation’s work on EDI-BIIDE.
• Report to the Board of Trustees on a quarterly basis on the Committee’s activities, highlighting achievements, and escalating risks and issues as appropriate.
• Draft briefing notes and communications pieces for internal and external audiences as required.
• In collaboration with staff, recruit and induct members onto the Committee as required.
• Conduct periodic reviews on the effectiveness of the Committee and its members and implement improvements as necessary.

About You

You will need to have the following skills and experience:

• An extensive understanding of legal and social EDI-BIIDE matters (including the contextual, political, climatic and social changing landscapes, to advance equity for stakeholders, the public and UKCP). 
• Well-developed communication skills with attention to language meanings across different populations and audiences that promote equity, further collaboration, and uphold respect and dignity for all.
• Experience in embedding EDI-BIIDE principles and practices in an organisational context, understanding how to align EDI-BIIDE with wider business objectives, and working within resource constraints
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills with experience working in an influential role and driving cultural changes for individuals, groups, communities, boards, training and teams.
• Proven success in leading and chairing a committee in similar environments
• Ability to navigate complex and sensitive issues with tact, diplomacy, and empathy, and seek advice, guidance and support when necessary.
• Experience in effectively chairing meetings, and encouraging input from a diverse range of backgrounds
• Sufficient time to fulfil the demands of the role.

Lepra is dedicated to addressing leprosy and lymphatic filariasis (LF) and their consequences through direct support, advocacy, and the promotion of inclusive communities. We work in Bangladesh and in India, through our sister organisation, LEPRA Society. We work in partnership with people affected by leprosy and LF to improve detection, ensure access to treatment and care, and promote inclusion and wellbeing. We have just finalised our new Global Strategy for 2024-30, which will guide us in our efforts to accelerate progress towards global targets for leprosy and LF, and towards our vision of a world free from leprosy and LF.

Background & Context to the Consultancy

Our new Global Strategy introduces some new approaches and priorities to our work, including: our first ever global Theory of Change (ToC), the most detailed Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) approach ever, and a sub-strategy dedicated to research, innovation and technology: the Global Research, Innovation and Technology Strategy (GRITS). With the finalisation of the new strategy, and as part of our ongoing commitment to improving our impact and efficiency, we are now seeking a consultant to provide specialised research support and technical advice.

Purpose & Objectives of the Consultancy

The primary objectives of this consultancy are to lead the transitional phase of the GRITS, creating a detailed operational plan for its implementation; support the management of the existing research portfolio ensuring technical soundness, budget adherence and timely delivery; establish a sustainable pathway for research expertise to be led by in-country professionals.

Scope of Work

The consultant will be responsible for the following key areas over a six-month period:

Strategy Transition Leadership

• Lead the transitional phase of the GRITS.
• Identify and address any gaps or challenges in the current strategy.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment and smooth transition.

Operational Plan Management

• Develop a comprehensive operational plan for the rollout of the strategy.
• Establish the initial GRITS processes including the Go no Go; steering group established and functioning.
• Define clear timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
• Ensure the plan is realistic, achievable, and aligns with the charity’s objectives and resources.

Support Existing Research Profile

• Review and support ongoing research projects.
• Ensure all research activities are technically sound, within budget, and on time.
• Provide technical guidance and support to research teams.
• Provide ongoing mentoring and coaching to staff and partners.
• Ensure that data sets and tools are appropriately designed and employed.

Pathway to Sustainability

• Create a sustainability plan to ensure research expertise is transitioned to and led by in-country professionals.
• Develop capacity-building programmes for local researchers and institutions
• Establish mentorship and training frameworks to support local leadership in research.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including donors, research institutions, and community leaders.
• Facilitate collaboration and partnerships to enhance the research profile and strategy implementation.
• Ensure transparent and effective communication throughout the transition process.

Monitoring and Evaluation

• Develop and implement a monitoring and evaluation framework to track progress and impact of the strategy.
• Regularly report on progress, challenges, and achievements to the Lepra’s leadership team.
• Adjust plans and strategies based on feedback and evaluation results.

Safeguarding

• Support the implementation of newly developed processes in relation to the Prevention of Sexual Exploitation & Abuse (PSEA) and Safeguarding (SG).
• Ensure safeguarding measures are integrated into all project activities.

Outputs of the Consultancy

• Comprehensive operational plan for the global research, innovation, and technology strategy.
• Progress reports on the transitional phase and implementation status.
