Jobs in grays
The British Academy – the UK’s national body for the humanities and social sciences – is seeking an Events Manager (Public Engagement) to join the Communications and Marketing department to devise and deliver the year-round public engagement programme.
The role
The role will be responsible for the planning, management and delivery of programmes designed to support researchers to develop their skills and experience in public engagement as a route to impact. This includes the annual flagship Summer Showcase festival, the nationwide public engagement funding scheme SHAPE, Involve and Engage, and key partnerships and collaborations with other organisations in the sector.
You will work closely with the Head of Events and Public Engagement on the strategic development of these programmes and will be responsible for supporting and guiding researchers to develop high-quality, innovative projects which provide meaningful opportunities for two-way dialogue with the public about their research and the humanities and social sciences more broadly.
About you
You will be someone who has passion and experience of delivering high-quality public engagement activities and who thrives in the ‘live’ environment of events and other public-facing activities. You will be equally as comfortable with planning, including developing frameworks for monitoring and evaluation.
You will also have experience in managing and developing people, whether directly managing staff or leading on a task with a dotted-line basis. A core part of this role is working in partnership with both internal teams and external organisations, and so we are looking for someone who is collegiate and flexible and who understands how to build positive working relationships across a diverse range of skillsets and experiences.
You will be joining at an exciting time, with the recent completion of three brand-new state-of-the-art events spaces at our home on Carlton House Terrace and continued growth in the Academy’s role as a research funder. You will play an important role in contributing to the ongoing programme for this new development.

IN A NUTSHELL
The Director of Data and Analytics will be a critical driver in the Centre for Homelessness Impact's mission to end homelessness for good. By leading and developing our data strategy, infrastructure, and capabilities, you will unlock the power of data to inform a decisive shift towards prevention. This role will involve working with partners to harness data from across sectors – housing, social care, health, education, and more – to generate insights that drive evidence-based decision-making, illuminate cost-effective solutions, and fuel innovation in preventing homelessness. You will be part of the leadership team, working with researchers, and programme leads across the organisation to ensure data is at the heart of achieving our mission.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Lead the Data Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive data strategy aligned with the Centre's strategic priorities, including expanding access to evidence and data, fueling collaboration, and enabling lasting change through R&D and through Test & Learn programmes. This strategy will encompass data from various sectors that influence homelessness, with a focus on identifying cost-effective prevention strategies.
- Enhance Data Infrastructure: Work with external partners including in local government, national government, and the third sector to oversee the development and maintenance of robust data infrastructure, systems, and tools to support the collection, storage, processing, and analysis of data related to homelessness and its root causes across relevant sectors, with a view to supporting resource allocation and intervention design.
- Drive Data Analysis and Insights: While you will have direct line management responsibility for an evidence and data lead, with additional support from external associate data analysts as needed, you will also be a hands-on leader, conducting data analysis yourself. You will generate actionable insights and develop data-driven solutions to address homelessness by examining data from various sources, including housing, social care, health, and education, to identify trends, risk factors, and opportunities for cost-effective prevention. You will also collaborate with other colleagues within the Centre for specific projects and initiatives.
- Champion Data-Driven Decision Making: Promote a data-driven culture within the Centre and across all sectors relevant to homelessness prevention, ensuring data driven approaches, including cost-effectiveness analysis, inform programme design, implementation, and evaluation.
- Collaborate closely with the Director of Evidence to ensure alignment between data analysis and research priorities, and to effectively translate data insights into evidence-based practice and policy recommendations as well as contribute to the development of research projects, and disseminate findings to relevant stakeholders
- Foster collaboration and knowledge sharing: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across relevant sectors, including researchers, policymakers, and practitioners, to share data, insights, and best practices to advance the field. This will involve building partnerships with organisations and agencies beyond the traditional homelessness sector to access and analyse relevant data, including cost and effectiveness data.
WHO YOU ARE
- A data expert: You have a PhD in a relevant discipline including statistics; econometrics; or data science; or relevant work experience in lieu of a PhD.
- A collaborative leader: You have experience of working collaboratively with a range of partners including in government or local government on data analysis
- A great manager: You have led and built high performing data analysis teams. Experience working in a fast paced working environment and delivering on projects with tight turnaround times.
- A strategic thinker: You can translate complex data and analytical insights into actionable strategies to address homelessness and its root causes, with a keen understanding of how to identify and evaluate cost-effective solutions. You can connect data-driven insights to broader organisational goals and strategic priorities.
- An effective communicator: You can clearly and persuasively communicate data-driven insights, including complex analytical findings and financial analyses, to various audiences, from policymakers to practitioners. You can tailor your communication style to different audiences and effectively convey the value of data and analytics.
- Desirable: An understanding of the homelessness sector and its data.
WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS
As the Centre for Homelessness Impact embarks on its next chapter with an even greater focus on prevention and cost-effectiveness, this role is critical. You will lead the way in using data to drive evidence-based decision-making, innovation, and systemic change, with a particular emphasis on achieving the 'prevention turn' to address the root causes of homelessness in a cost-effective and sustainable manner. You will work in close partnership with the Director of Evidence to ensure that data and research are seamlessly integrated to drive impactful change in homelessness and related fields.
WHAT WE OFFER
- A unique opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of people affected by homelessness.
- A chance to work with a passionate and dedicated team committed to achieving ambitious goals.
- A supportive and collaborative work environment that values innovation and creativity.

Future Men is at a pivotal moment in the organisation’s history, seeking to expand operations and support more boys, and men, their families, and their communities. We are looking for a dedicated and strategic Head of Impact and Evaluation to lead our efforts in measuring and enhancing the impact of our programmes. This role is essential in ensuring the efficacy of our interventions, driving continuous improvement, and demonstrating the value of our work to stakeholders.
BACKGROUND
Future Men (FM) is a specialist charity that provides emotional and practical support for boys and young men. Through our practice-led services, we work with boys and men from childhood to 25, to help them become healthy, dynamic, future men, whilst addressing the stereotypes around masculinity and engaging in the wider conversation of what it means to be a man. Through our practice-led services we encourage boys and men to explore, celebrate and build on the seven characteristics that we believe contribute to positive masculinity. From structured school programmes to individual one-to-one sessions and outreach work, we provide the vital support and advocacy that changes boys and young men’s lives for the better. We focus our work with boys and men who face structural discrimination and disadvantage, including of race, income, and community.

A better future for every boy, every man, and everyone.

About Future Frontiers:
In the UK, family income is the strongest predictor of how well a young person will do at school and the future opportunities they will have. Future Frontiers exists to change this. Our vision is of a society where equal access to education and career opportunities enables potential to overcome poverty.
We support young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to realise their potential and work towards secure and fulfilling employment. In partnership with schools, businesses and supporters, we deliver an evidence-based programme of career coaching, opportunities and guidance for young people from lower income households. This year, we are working with 2,500 young people in schools across Greater London. You can find out more about our programme and impact so far in the Annual Impact Report on our website.
About the role:
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Philanthropy Officer to join our small, ambitious team and help secure the funding that makes our work possible. Our Philanthropy team builds meaningful relationships with supporters—particularly charitable trusts and foundations—to secure a significant proportion of Future Frontiers’ income.
Reporting to the Head of Philanthropy, you’ll help build a sustainable pipeline of high-value supporters. You’ll focus on researching new funding opportunities, crafting high-quality funding applications, writing tailored reports, and ensuring excellent donor stewardship.
You’ll bring exceptional writing skills, outstanding attention to detail and a proactive, people-focused approach. You may have fundraising experience, or bring a strong understanding of relationship-building from another sector. You’ll thrive on spotting opportunities, shaping persuasive cases for support and connecting with supporters.
You’ll also be highly organised, keeping accurate records and ensuring our funders feel appreciated and connected to our work. This role would suit someone looking to take their next step in fundraising—perhaps you already work in a fundraising or grant-writing role and are ready for more ownership, or you bring strong transferable skills and are excited to grow into the role. If you’re an excellent communicator with a passion for our mission and for building high-impact relationships, we’d love to hear from you.
Your responsibilities:
Identify new funding opportunities:
You’ll lead on identifying charitable trusts, foundations and major donors with the potential to support Future Frontiers. Through proactive research and collaboration with other teams, you’ll build and qualify a strong pipeline of prospective funders, matching them with appropriate asks. A key part of the role is ensuring a steady flow of new prospects, with regular research and outreach to grow our portfolio of supporters.
Build and manage a portfolio of supporters:
You’ll develop a strong understanding of existing and prospective supporters, enabling you to provide thoughtful, tailored relationship management. With guidance from the Head of Philanthropy, you’ll help build and maintain relationships with a range of grant-making trusts and foundations, securing donations and delivering proactive stewardship to encourage continued support. You’ll also act as an ambassador for Future Frontiers, creating opportunities for supporters to connect with our work.
Write applications for funding:
You’ll craft high-quality funding proposals that make a persuasive case for how each supporter’s contribution will make a difference for young people facing disadvantage. Every application will be tailored to the funder’s priorities, and your exceptional writing skills and attention to detail will ensure each one is clear, accurate and compelling.
Report on impact:
You’ll demonstrate the difference our supporters make by delivering high-quality reports, updates and case studies that bring our impact to life. You’ll work closely with teams across the organisation to gather the right information and write clear and engaging updates that reflect each funder’s interests and requirements. You’ll manage reporting timelines and ensure our commitments are met, helping to secure future funding and strengthen relationships.
Keep accurate and detailed records:
You’ll make sure all fundraising activity is recorded promptly and accurately, helping us track relationships, deadlines and progress. You’ll support the team’s efficiency by keeping organised records and helping to manage key administrative processes. You’ll also ensure we meet data protection and fundraising regulations, including GDPR and the Code of Fundraising Practice.
Contribute to wider organisational priorities:
You’ll be a collaborative team member, supporting cross-team projects and organisation-wide initiatives as needed. From time to time, you may also be asked to take on other duties in line with your role.
