We have two offices, one based in London and one in Birmingham. We are open to candidates across both of those locations. Our CEO is based in London. Day to day it's a mixture of being in our office, working from home and visiting our prisons. We can also look to make the role 4 days for the right candidate.

Beating Time have been going since 2014. Originally running music groups in prison and since 2021 an employment through the gate service called Inside Job. Both programmes now run across, London, Birmingham and the Northeast. Our aim is simple, helping prisoners survive their sentence and thrive on release.
The Role:
As the COO you’ll be the right-hand person to our CEO Liv Wicks. She’s a right laugh (she may or may not have written this herself).
What You'll Be Doing:
✨Supporting our two part time fundraisers with applications.
✨ Occasional frontline support within our prisons.
✨ Helping to streamline our tech and processes.
✨ Working with the CEO to shape and develop the overall Beating Time strategy.
✨ Joint oversight of our charity finances and forming part of our finance committee alongside the trustees.
✨Supporting governance and regulatory compliance for the charity.
✨ Signing off our monthly reports for our funded prison contracts.
✨ Line management responsibility of the wider team.

About the role:
You will be joining a passionate and committed team who provide high quality and bespoke support to service users. We pride ourselves on exceptional trauma informed advocacy and support to all service users. Once in post you will benefit from the mandatory comprehensive training programme which will build on your existing skills and experience to prepare you for the role. Homicide Service training includes, criminal justice process; trauma informed approach to support; supporting traumatically bereaved families; personal and professional resilience.
As a fully trained Homicide Family Caseworker you will be responsible for managing your own complex caseload to the highest quality standards.
You will need to be able to travel to home visits within Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire, and occasionally outside of area, and therefore this role involves regular travel and due to the location, a driving license and access to a vehicle is considered an essential requirement. About the role:
This role is based in Rochdale Police station along with some hybrid working, you must be prepared to travel across the borough of Rochdale.
As a CYP IDVA you will deliver specialist and enhanced support to Children and Young People aged 4-17 who have experienced Domestic Violence Abuse in the home. You will be responsible for providing high quality interventions to children & young people affected by DVA through the development of individually tailored & risk assessed support and safety plans. You will offer support through one-to-one sessions to address issues of self-esteem, manage emotions and feelings of blame and responsibility with the aim to improve understanding of abusive behaviour, healthy relationships and conflict resolution.
You will need:
To conduct comprehensive needs and risk assessments and ensure each CYP receives an individual tailored support package that fully meets their identified needs, including safety planning, advocacy, emotional and practical support.
To advocate on behalf of children and young people with experience of domestic abuse to ensure the diverse needs of children and young people using the service are met.
Provide one to one support to children and young people living in families affected by domestic abuse.
The ability to review the assessment of risk on an ongoing basis, ensuring appropriate and immediate action is taken in respect of any CYP facing significant harm, making the necessary referrals to MARAC and local safeguarding processes as required given the legal framework relating to the protection of children and the policy and procedures of the Local Safeguarding Children's Board.
To establish links with relevant statutory partners in Social Care, Education, Health, Police and Housing, with the intention of supporting children and young people who have been impacted by domestic abuse. Attend meetings as required.
Ideally a background in Social Worker, Domestic Abuse or Children & Young People services would be advantageous.

Purpose of the Role
You will be reporting to and working closely with the Business Development Manager to grow and develop the number of White Ribbon Accredited organisations, and workplaces using our training programmes. You will be responsible for delivering Accreditation, including Supporter organisations, and for coordinating and developing training, ensuring that all standards are met, and facilitating continuous improvement. You will work with other team members to recruit new Ambassadors and Champions and provide information and opportunities for existing Ambassadors and Champions. You will engage and motivate Accredited organisations and Supporter organisations to participate in White Ribbon Day.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Accreditation
- Working with colleagues to market and network proactively to develop the Accreditation programme and increase the number of Accredited and Supporter organisations, including attending meetings, events online and in person
- Working directly with organisations to provide advice and support to individual organisations in completing the Accreditation process and developing and delivering their action plans, including attending steering group meetings when necessary
- Assess action plans and provide recommendations for approval of completed action plans. Look at ways to develop and continuously improve the action plan templates, including developing guidance for organisations
- Coordinate and deliver projects and events to allow sharing of best practice and cross-sector/sector specific engagement to address specific issues
- Disseminate best practice to all Accredited organisations and Supporter organisations
- Be responsible for maintaining resource hubs and develop new materials for the hubs, working with other teams
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of action plans within organisations
Training
- Working with colleagues, promote and market with colleagues White Ribbon UK training to new and existing organisations

- Passion for the cause of ending violence against women and girls and for engaging men in primary prevention work
- Substantial and demonstrable track record of working successfully with businesses in a development capacity – including acquiring and maximising relationships

Job Description
To be part of the youth work team at Redthread, with a primary focus on the Youth Violence Intervention Programme.
What does a Youth Intervention Practitioner do? Youth Intervention Practitioners use the principles and power of youth work in the setting of a busy emergency department. We meet young people who have experienced injury or trauma while they are in the hospital, and work alongside our clinical colleagues to offer them support at a time when they are feeling very vulnerable. Our first contact with the young person may be to offer them a drink, or to ring their parent, or to check they understand what’s happening to them. When their immediate medical needs have been met, we will talk to them some more and explain how we can support them.
We will do a safety plan with them before they leave the hospital. If a young person chooses to engage with us, we will then work with them for eight to twelve weeks on a plan of action that’s tailored to their needs. We work closely with the hospital safeguarding team every day and frequently have to escalate concerns. We contact any other agencies who know the young person so we’re not duplicating their work, and often arrange to meet them with the young person. We regularly have to strongly advocate for young people, for example with housing agencies.
We look for organisations who can work with them towards their longer-term goals and we do relational referrals, transferring the trust that young people have built with us. Youth Intervention Practitioners hold a caseload of young people, supported by their team leader, and need to be good at recording their work, and discussing and reflecting on their practice. We provide an intensive induction at the start of the role, ongoing training and CPD throughout your time at Redthread and fortnightly clinical supervision.
Our Youth Intervention Practitioners have to be courageous and tenacious, and because ours is a short intervention, we don’t always see first-hand the impact of our work. But we know from talking to the young people we work with that we make a huge difference. Our Youth Intervention Practitioners are resilient, able to work calmly in a challenging environment with young people experiencing trauma, injury or exploitation. They have a good level of self awareness, the ability to reflect on how the work is impacting them, and a willingness to engage in regular clinical supervision that helps them develop their practice and emotional literacy.
Qualifications
Desirable (but not essential): A degree-level qualification in social work, youth work, a social science, education or another relevant field.
Additional information
Location: Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, Heartlands Hospital Birmingham and Birmingham Children's Hospital. With regular travel to other Redthread sites and offices when required.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: £26,302 per annum + benefits
