Alzheimer’s Research UK’s (ARUK’s) Supporter-led Fundraising (SLF) team has seen rapid expansion and has big ambitions to improve our supporters’ fundraising experience, develop exciting fundraising products and drive income to power more world-class dementia research. Working across our sporting and mass participation fundraising products, you will deliver market-leading campaigns, develop creative and engaging supporter content and explore new channels of communication and re-engagement with our supporters to achieve further transformational growth.
The role requires an ambitious marketeer with previous product/event marketing experience, outstanding copywriting skills and an enthusiasm for identifying and implementing new social and digital technologies. Fundraising experience is not essential.
You will work alongside another Marketing Campaigns Officer to support the Marketing & Engagement Manager and the Senior Marketing & Engagement Manager on the development of SLF products and campaigns. You will provide excellent copywriting support to the SLF team and manage creative and media agency relationships. The role also works closely with the Sporting Events Managers, the Regional Fundraising Managers and their teams, as well as collaborating with colleagues in the Communications, Project Management, Digital and Data teams.
Main duties and responsibilities of the role:
Manage the marketing activity for mass participation campaigns.
· Write clear, engaging and fun copy for campaigns, social media adverts, acquisition campaigns, emails and web.
· Work with agencies, partners and internal stakeholders to ensure on-time campaign delivery.
· Own the overall marketing/comms calendar for key income-driving campaigns.
· Be innovative: review and implement new technologies to improve our campaigns, drive engagement and boost supporter experience.
· Help bring our new For A Cure brand messaging to life across all SLF marketing.
Campaign marketing: supporter acquisition
· Play a significant role in bringing thousands of new supporters to the charity through targeted, considered and tactical marketing campaigns.
· Lead the marketing campaigns for our Community, Sporting and Corporate fundraising challenges, which raise significant income for the charity each year.
· Provide the Supporter-led Fundraising team with copywriting support, marketing assets, and wider marketing support.
· Assist the Marketing & Engagement Manager and the Senior Marketing & Engagement Manager on product and proposition development to maximise income and attract new supporters.
· Work with our external agencies and partners, managing relationships where required.
· Work with internal stakeholders to ensure SLF campaigns are integrated across the charity to drive maximum value and awareness.
· Deliver all products on time, on budget and on brand.
· Contribute to campaign reviews and analysis, with proactive adaptation of plans to optimise results.
Engagement: supporter stewardship
· Write inspiring marketing copy and compelling communications to support SLF activities and drive action.
· Develop and write the automated email stewardship journey for key SLF fundraising campaigns and events.
· Develop reactivation campaigns to re-engage existing and lapsed SLF supporters.
Budget management and reporting
· Manage budgets, marketing spend and monitor campaign ROI.
· Work closely with the Digital and Data teams to ensure engagement, acquisition and remittance is monitored and evaluated (CPA, trend analysis, KPI tracking and lifetime value).
· Provide monthly campaign performance reporting and benchmarking against market trends.
Other duties
· Play a pivotal role in the delivery of over £8m income in the next year.
· Active involvement in the sector to ensure best practice.
· Ensure all activities comply with ARUK brand guidelines.
· Ensure GDPR compliance across all SLF teams.
· Ensuring compliance, including understanding and application of the ARUK Vulnerable Persons Policy, compliance with the FR Codes of Fundraising Practice, compliance with Gambling Commission, HMRC, DMA and ICO guidance and legislation.

The Policy and Public Affairs Department at Alzheimer’s Research UK is a dynamic and fast-growing team driving change to influence political stakeholders and shape policies that advance dementia research, improve access to early diagnosis, and prepare health systems for future treatments. The Policy Communications team sits within the Communications Department but works collaboratively with the Policy and Public Affairs Departments to maximise the success and influence of their work by gaining cut-through with key audiences and inspiring positive, urgent action.
The Policy Communications Manager plays a pivotal role in influencing government action, engaging campaigners, and shaping the media narrative on critical issues such as dementia risk reduction and new treatments. Main duties and responsibilities of the role:
Management and collaboration
· Lead and manage your team effectively, embodying ARUK’s leadership values. This includes holding regular 1:1s, providing constructive feedback, managing workloads, and supporting training and development needs.

Event support
· Oversee communications and branding for key events, including parliamentary engagements, roundtables, and other high-profile activities as needed.
Internal communications
· Support teams internally in talking confidently and consistently about strategic policy and campaigning issues to their audiences.
What we are looking for:
· Ability to develop and support a high-performing team that delivers on organisational priorities.
· Confident setting KPIs and direction for teams and will have proven success leading integrated PR and digital campaigns.
· Significant experience working within an influential press office, including a record of proactively securing top-tier coverage.

This Engagement Lead role will sit within our Capacity Building and Standards (CB&S) function. The CB&S function aims to build the capacity of organisations and institutions to embed the processes, skills, structures and cultures needed for effective public engagement in decision making. Community Alcohol Partnerships (CAP) is looking to engage the services of a results-oriented consultant with great people skills to set up CAP projects in high harm areas.
The successful applicant will have a track record of building effective partnerships, the people and communication skills to involve and engage a wide range of local stakeholders and the leadership and project management skills to support projects through each phase of their lifecycle including baseline evaluation, action plan delivery, post intervention evaluation and maintenance/sustainment. After a short familiarisation period the successful applicant will be expected to oversee fast-track development of new CAPs in priority areas and take responsibility for all aspects of their management with minimal supervision.
A key requisite of the role will be the ability to forge effective public/private sector partnerships between statutory agencies, schools, youth charities and retailers following the CAP model and evaluation framework. The successful applicant may come from a police, public health, education, local authority or other relevant background.
Key Responsibilities
· Proactively identify opportunities for new CAPs and facilitate set up of new CAPs in priority areas
· Ensure that all new CAP projects carry out appropriate and timely interventions and evaluate all activity in line with the CAP evaluation toolkit – including a baseline and post intervention evaluation
· Raise the profile of CAPs in Scotland and ensure that their impact is recognised by key stakeholders
Specific duties to include the following:
o Represent CAP at all operational meetings
o Ensure that Retail of Alcohol Standards Group (RASG) member companies play a full delivery role in each CAP where they operate as businesses.
o Liaise as appropriate with strategic leads within local enforcement authorities and other partner organisations to initiate and complete agreed actions
o Encourage all projects to achieve positive local media coverage including via social media and regional news/broadcast media
o Ensure that all projects carry out as a minimum a baseline (pre-CAP) evaluation and post intervention evaluation following the CAP evaluation framework and project management survey tools
o Produce a monthly progress report on all schemes and pipeline activity
o Attend and participate in regular CAP update meetings on Microsoft teams (x12 pa)
o Assist with event planning and profile-raising opportunities such as MSP visits to CAP projects
Skills, attributes and experience
- Essential to the role will be the ability to persuade key stakeholders at local and national level of the need to address underage drinking problems and to facilitate effective and dynamic local partnerships involving any/all of the following sectors: local authorities, education, child protection, social services, public health, Alcohol and Drug Partnerships, police, retailers and licensing
- Excellent organisational and sound project management skills
- Great people skills with the ability to build consensus and motivate partners to play a role in timely delivery of an agreed action plan
- Act as an ambassador for CAP at meetings and events including parliamentary events
- Excellent presentation and all-round communication skills
- Capable administrator with the ability to keep accurate records including data collection around outputs and impact evaluation
Remuneration: Consultancy fee of £320 per day depending on experience. Work will depend on ability to generate interest in setting up new CAPs but we anticipate as a guideline engaging a minimum of 2.5 days of consultancy per week or around 100 days per annum. All reasonable and agreed travel expenses will be paid in line with invoice arrangements.

Climate change is one of those big challenges and is a policy area where citizen engagement on both principles and practice is vital.
