We’re looking for a talented and knowledgeable Senior Research Grants Project Officer to join our Research Team. You’ll have experience working in research/grant funding and management, and project management in a health research environment. You’ll be a problem solver with the ability to convey complex technical information to a non-specialist audience. You’ll also need strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and manage your workload to meet strict deadlines.
About the role
This is an exciting time to join Myeloma UK as we launch our new five year strategy.
Our portfolio of grant funded research programmes and projects play an important role in achieving our strategic objectives. These programmes aim to discover and share new knowledge, support the development of clinical trials and answer questions of unmet need in myeloma.
The postholder will ensure the development and effective management of the grants portfolio in line with Myeloma UK procedures, ensuring compliance with AMRC guidelines and charity finance requirements. You’ll ensure grant holders deliver on contractual milestones, manage high level relationships with Principal Investigators and will work closely with the Research Advisory Group and any other specialist groups as required.
You will also work with other teams across Myeloma UK to help inform and update our supporter audience on the funded research programme and other research issues.

The Role
The objectives of the Communications and Campaigns team are to increase the public profiles of organisation and its partner charity, mobilise public support to bring about change and ensure that all colleagues are aware of, bought into and engaged in contributing to the values and direction of the charities.
Main duties include:
- Creating, sourcing and publishing engaging social media content
- Planning content in advance and updating content plans
- Monitoring social media accounts responding as appropriate to supporters
- Analysing the performance of social media posts and evolve and improve content
- Working alongside the Digital Content Creator, shoot and edit video content for digital channels
- Create engaging social media graphics and visuals to support social media posts.
- Keep up with social media trends

About You
As the Senior Social Media Officer, you will have experience of planning, creating and scheduling engaging content across multiple social media channels, while optimising content by channel and audience. With an eye for detail and excellent project management skills, you will work with colleagues to generate content and meet deadlines
You will also have experience of:
- Using creative design software (Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and Premiere Pro - desirable).
- Analysing performance of social media content and refining and improving content through iteration.
- Being a brand guardian and supporting others to use brand and tone of voice guidelines.

You will play a vital role in delivering our ambitious growth strategy, leading a team over 200 operational staff to reach 1.6m participants by 2026 and remove barriers to access for the most marginalised and excluded young people.
You will be accountable for the design of the DofE Programme, licensing, training and quality-assuring our Licensed Organisations as well as overseeing our multi-million pound strategic growth programmes, and our £2m+ Resilience Fund that provides grants and bursaries to remove barriers to access.
As a member of DofE’s Executive Leadership Team, you will also contribute to the overall strategic and operational leadership of DofE, working collaboratively with senior colleagues to ensure DofE activity is aligned behind our strategy and modelling our values and behaviours.

You will be an exceptional leader of operational teams who has worked at executive level and can provide empowering and motivational leadership to a Directorate of over 200 field-based staff, and our network of 5,000 Licensed Organisations and 40,000 incredible volunteers leaders.
