THE ROLE:

Working alongside our founder Amanda, and other team members you’ll be right at the heart of the action. You’ll be the backbone of daily operations, providing vital support, handling all aspects of administration and ensuring the ship runs smoothly.

Your role will be pivotal in enabling us to be efficient and effective across our organisation and helping us to have an even bigger impact on restoring the planet.

We’re looking for someone who’s a solutions finder and ready to roll up their sleeves and get stuck in. You’ll have great attention to detail and relish being organised and efficient. But you’ll also be able to bring the experience to take a step back and have a look at our systems and processes to suggest and implement efficiencies and improvements.

This is a permanent part-time role, 20 hours a week (half a day every day), with the opportunity to scale up in both responsibilities and hours as our organisation grows. We'll explore the exact hours and timings with you and together find what works.

WHAT DOES THE ROLE INVOLVE:

· Operational Management: Streamline daily business operations, to keep an ever-improving and well-oiled machine. Enable and support the smooth onboarding of our new automatic donation system. Explore new software, systems and processes that will help as we grow to the next level.

· Administration: Executing a range of administrative tasks including donation logging, managing invoicing, tracking fundraising and data entry into Salesforce and Mailchimp.

· Communication Hub: Be the central point of communication, ensuring different parts of the team are kept updated and pulling in the same direction.

· Co-ordination: Oversee, run and deliver projects on time, from blogs and newsletters to the implementation of new tech systems.

· Processes: Oversee the smooth running of existing processes across the organisation and ensure the team utilise them correctly.

· HR: Lead on staff recruitment​ including hiring and onboarding new team members, performance reviews and overseeing the smaller details such as sick pay and annual leave.

· Policies: Keeping current policies and JOT handbooks up to date, adding new policies where needed and helping create those we are yet to think of.

· Logistics: Being a logistical wizard for team travel, events, meetings and internship organisation

· Company-wide Support: Be our  5th Emergency service!  Support the small and passionate team to be the best they can be. You’ll have oversight of it all so we can run smoothly.

Evolve, a leading mental health counselling charity, is seeking a part-time administrator receptionist, to be the first point of contact for clients seeking our non-emergency professional mental health counselling services.

The postholder will manage phone calls and web enquiries through to successful conclusions via our Head of Counselling and their team of over fifty counsellors, creating and maintaining client records with Charitylog – a client records management system.

They will be the key source of information and support for this team of counsellors, who all work remotely currently across greater Cambridgeshire, Northants, and Peterborough areas, making sure they have all necessary support and information for their roles.

Our administrator will also organise and manage all other corporate information for the Trustee Board, the CEO, and their leadership team plus our volunteer staff – building an effective ‘memory’ for Evolve and helping us to grow and support more people.

The role:

We are recruiting for an enthusiastic Internal Audit Officer to join our Risk & Assurance team. Reporting to the Internal Audit Lead you will have responsibility for planning and delivering assurance reviews across our school feeding programmes worldwide. As Internal Audit Officer, you will have an amazing opportunity to develop your skills in internal audit, witness first-hand the impact of our feeding programmes and influence the development of processes that ensure we keep our promise to feed each child every school day.

Duties:

The role is primarily focused on planning and delivering work for a structured plan of reviews across the network. As a junior member of the Internal Audit team, you will conduct these reviews and follow up of any agreed actions with the support and coaching of the Internal Audit Lead. This is a remote role however there will be between 5 and 6 audit field trips per year, each lasting between 1-2 weeks, so you must be happy to travel regularly as part of your role.

With the support of the Internal Audit Lead you will have responsibility for mapping the processes under review, assessing the quality of our control frameworks to manage risk and testing the effectiveness of our controls in practice.  This includes:

• Highlighting opportunities with staff to enhance and strengthen the design and operation of existing controls, or to introduce new controls.
• Documenting all fieldwork in a concise, thorough and accurate manner, meeting reperformance standards for all controls testing.
• Drafting high-quality reports to summarise findings and make clear recommendations.
• Providing ongoing support to local management teams around implementation of agreed actions.
• Assessing and challenging, based on provided evidence, whether agreed actions have been effectively implemented by staff by the deadlines set.

About you:

A self- starter, you will be passionate about collaborating with others to drive continuous improvement and to develop practical solutions.  The ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues in different countries and settings, will be key to success in this role. With fantastic communication skills, both written and verbal, you will be confident in imparting your findings and recommendations in person, over the phone and via concise, high-quality reports.

1-2 years audit experience and good knowledge of the charity sector would be desirable but not essential. We will offer comprehensive training to candidates who are aligned to our values, passionate about our work and can demonstrate relevant experience of, working collaboratively with stakeholders, analysing large quantities of data and producing detailed reports. You must have a strong, analytical approach with the confidence to make objective decisions and challenge where needed.

You will:

• Support the Head of Companion Animals with strategy development and implementation as necessary. 
• Deputise for the Head at internal and external meetings.
• Assist with the preparation of departmental budgets, and make decisions on behalf of the Head in their absence.
• Lead the management of multiple projects which align with the extreme breeding strategy, allocating tasks to assigned resources in order to ensure that all projects meet agreed quality, cost and timescale parameters.

• Monitor, review, analyse, report on and where appropriate respond to, reports and announcements from relevant bodies on proposed EU directives, domestic UK legislation, and the work of parliamentary select committees, Defra, and other governmental and NGO working groups relevant to extreme breeding.
• Be a lead representative for the Society at meetings on extreme breeding to promote its objectives to key stakeholders and target audiences up to the highest levels including government ministers, MPs and senior civil servants, industry and other external bodies, committees, working groups, government representatives and working groups and think tanks and produce associated briefing papers and reports.
• To produce reports on extreme breeding and other companion animal issues, and contribute to departmental newsletters and information sheets and material for RSPCA publications.

What makes a great Scientific and Policy Manager?

To succeed within this role, it is essential that you have: 

• A degree level qualification in a relevant biological discipline, plus relevant experience.
• Specific and extensive expertise relevant to animal welfare and companion animals specific to the post.
• A broad knowledge and understanding of animal welfare issues.
• An excellent knowledge and understanding of legislation, regulations and relevant organisations in government, industry.

What a day might look like for you

It's an exciting time to join us in the decade of our bicentenary as we focus on our Strategy to 2030. The RSPCA works 365 days a year, rescuing all animals of all types from abuse, neglect, and injury. 

Here's some of the key work you'll be doing: 

• Monitor, share and analyse policies, reports, news and announcements (including answers to Parliamentary Questions) from relevant bodies (such as the European Commission, Home Office and Department for Science, Innovation and Technology), proactively and on request, in order to help maintain the Animals in Science Department's knowledge base.
• Search for articles, research papers and general information relevant to the Department's work, to support the work of the scientific staff and maintain the Department's knowledge base regarding research animal welfare and use, ethics and the 3Rs.
• Undertake additional supporting tasks as required, such as helping to organise meetings; laying out and formatting publications; developing guidance and tools to enable further implementation of the 3Rs and robust ethical review of animal use, writing up meeting reports for publication.
• Work closely with the Digital Media team, providing and updating content for the RSPCA website relevant to the Society's work to help laboratory animals.
• Help produce content (eg. articles, infographics) for the public, members of animal ethics committees and other stakeholders, to inform these audiences of issues relating to animal research and testing and of the RSPCA's work in this area.
• Help promote the RSPCA's work for lab animals using a variety of communication channels including social media.
• To represent the RSPCA at relevant forums and give presentations at relevant meetings or workshops, internally and externally.

What makes a great Scientific and Policy Officer?

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and monitor the charity's financial budgets and cash flow forecasts in collaboration with the CEO and project leads.

• Manage outsourced bookkeeping, accountancy, and payroll administration, ensuring the accuracy of financial records using Xero.

Essential Requirements:

• Recognised accountancy qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
• Strong accounting experience, including charity statutory accounting and financial reporting.
• Proficiency in accounting software (ideally Xero), with strong Excel skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Demonstrable experience in producing management accounts, interpreting financial data for both expert and non-expert audiences.
• Experience of managing external audits and collaborating with auditors.
• Excellent organisational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritise, multitask, and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a virtual team, with excellent self-direction and initiative.

Desirable:

• Knowledge of charity governance and compliance requirements.

We are seeking an individual experienced in developing bids in response to tenders and other partnerships. The role will lead the end-to-end bidding process, from identifying and nurturing suitable applied research, service design and consultancy opportunities and invitations to tender, developing compelling proposals (involving the wider team as required), managing bid submissions, adherence to compliance requirements and deadlines, and supporting the team with preparation for interviews. Successful candidates will have at least three years’ experience in a bidding or business development role, within the social research, consulting or charity sector. Kids Club Kampala is a UK charity with a Christian ethos that works to transform the lives of children in the slums of Kampala in Uganda. We help children and families in Uganda to survive and to thrive by providing for both their immediate needs and strengthening their futures through community outreach, protecting, educating, and skilling. We work in partnership with our team in Uganda who passionately lead and implement our projects which are a life line to some of the most vulnerable children in the world. 

About the Role

We are looking for a committed and detail-oriented Finance and Administration Officer to help manage the day-to-day financial and administrative functions of our growing charity. As part of our friendly, supportive team, you’ll play a crucial role in keeping us organised and driving the charity forward during this exciting stage of our development.

This role is home-based, with monthly travel to Birmingham for team meetings.

Job Description

Financial Administration 

• Bookkeeping: Maintain accurate financial records, including processing receipts, invoices, payments, and expenses.

• Budgeting and Reporting: Assist in the preparation of budgets, financial forecasts, and reports for internal management and external stakeholders.

• Grant Management: Track income and expenditure related to grants and restricted funds, ensuring compliance with donor requirements.

• Accounts Payable/Receivable: Manage payments to suppliers and reconcile incoming donations and funds.

• Bank Reconciliation: Reconcile bank accounts on a regular basis to ensure the accuracy of financial statements.

• Gift Aid Claims: submit regular gift aid claims to HMRC and ensure declaration forms are up to date

Administrative Duties:

• Donation processing: Timely and accurate processing of donations including creating receipts and data management.

• Office Management: Oversee general administrative tasks, including managing office supplies, correspondence, file management and documentation.

• HR Administration: Support the HR function with staff records, leave tracking, and recruitment documentation.

• Board and Committee Support: Assist with preparing financial reports, minutes and other documentation for Board meetings and other key committees.

• Database Management: Maintain accurate donor and client databases, ensuring data protection compliance.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join our bank of casual workers as a Welfare Officer, providing cover as required for the SSAFA RAF Service across the UK.

Our Bank Welfare Officers will provide direct and impactful welfare support to RAF personnel and their immediate family on an ad hoc basis when a full-time member of the team is unavailable to do so.

As a trusted and confidential source of support, you will assist our service users with challenges they are facing, from mental ill-health, difficult relationships, domestic abuse, financial and cost-of-living concerns, resettlement, housing, childcare, equality issues, bereavement, military discharge or deployment and many more - no day will be the same, as such this is a great opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills within the Welfare sector.

Our intervention is provided with consent on a non-statutory basis, and you will work with and engage our service users to develop appropriate interventions for individual outcomes.

Our service is transitioning to become more accessible and inclusive, digital technology plays a key role in this, as such you may be asked to use digital technologies to complement and enhance processes and service user experience.

You will work closely with RAF welfare teams, local authorities, health, education, civilian agencies, charities and other military organisations to ensure the best outcome for the service user.

2024 marks 34 years since SSAFA began delivering an independent non-statutory, and confidential service, for the Royal Air Force community across the UK, and this is an exciting time to be joining as we were recently successful in our bid to continue delivering this service.

About you
