​In this exciting role and working with our award-winning rail programme, the Media and Communications Manager will take the lead in developing, delivering and managing Samaritans’ communications and media activity relating to rail suicide prevention in order to raise awareness, engage supporters & stakeholders and positively influence the wider media’s reporting of suicides.

The Role

​This post will operate at a national level alongside similar posts in the rail industry. It will seek to develop ties with all train operator and Network Rail communications team and will play a key role in delivering Samaritans messages at a national level.

​

This position will work across both the Network Rail Partnership team and the External Affairs team in order to provide dedicated focus, resource and specialist expertise – providing a conduit for these skills and colleagues in the rail sector.

Skills and experience you’ll need

In this role, you’ll need experience of working in a press office, PR agency, or similar role within a wider communications team or media outlet, having developed excellent communication and written skills, along with a good working knowledge of UK media landscape, a strong news sense and experience selling-in.

​

Working with stakeholders across the rail industry, you’ll have experience of influencing, negotiating and, ideally, partnership working. Warm, personable and friendly, you’ll have strong interpersonal skills and be able to build and maintain relationships with many different groups of people.

Highly organised and able to work under pressure to meet deadlines, you’ll be a self-starter with experience of successful project management. You’ll need compassion and resilience to work with exposure to incidents and stories that may be upsetting.

South East London Mind has been delivering a young person’s counselling service to students at Southwark College for several years.

As a Young People’s Counsellor, you’ll provide an age-appropriate counselling service that allows the students to explore their mental health and wellbeing, along with the socioeconomic factors that impact this. You’ll manage a caseload of students, triaging new clients to the service, coordinating the waiting list and capturing data and outcome measures on a CRM database.

We are looking for someone with a professionally-recognised diploma or equivalent in Counselling or Psychotherapy who has experience of providing counselling to young people aged 14 upwards. As you’ll be working closely with pastoral staff on-site, an ability to work independently but collaboratively, to be proactive and show initiative is essential for this role.

The role will involve:

• Offering age-appropriate counselling sessions, including assessments and risk assessments 
• Working with teachers and pastoral staff to ensure that students are triaged and the relevant level of care and support is offered
• Record keeping: maintaining up-to-date records of work undertaken, including session notes, service records and Views CRM database records
• Contributing to quarterly monitoring reports, including reflections on key themes and issues experienced by students, case studies, and outcome measurement tools

The team mostly work from home however, our expectation is that we will need the successful candidate to be able to travel to the offices in Haywards Heath, West Sussex (RH16 3BW) at least once per quarter but there is also the option to work in the office for three days per week, working the other two days from home. Job Summary 

Work as a team to support the Diocese of London in safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults in line with both UK legislation and House of Bishops Guidance. Responds well to safeguarding allegations and concerns, management of risk and making the church a safer place in line with the Church of England National Safeguarding Standards. 

Job responsibilities 

Casework  

• Respond to concerns and allegations of harm, working with statutory agencies; and protection of those who work with children and vulnerable adults in line of the House of Bishops Guidance.

• Acting as a contact point for those in church and statutory agencies, provide advice on all safeguarding matters, ensuring the DST is operating in line with the law, government guidance and national practice guidance from the House of Bishops. Ensure that safeguarding procedures are carried out throughout the process, with appropriate liaison with statutory agencies.

• Ensure appropriate support for alleged victims and their families and respondents and their families, throughout an investigation and thereafter.

• Maintain practices standards in all case work, ensuring five key principles underpin all adult safeguarding work, human rights and have due regard to mental capacity and acting in the best interests of those in need of support. Supporting practice and policy development around case management safeguarding processes. 

• Work with individuals who come to our attention to ensure appropriate risk assessment and risk management plans to set boundaries within a church setting; for those who are convicted of an offence, or where there are continuing unresolved concerns regarding risks to others.

Essential 

• A social work qualification recognised by the Health and Care Professional Council, or a similar qualification in a related area/profession, or experience.

• Practitioner experience of working with perpetrators of any form of abuse. 

• Knowledge and experience of recognition of risk, risk assessment and risk management and the ability to contribute to multi-agency risk meetings. Knowledge of processes such as MAPPA, MARAC and PREVENT. 

• Excellent listening and communication skills and strong verbal communications skills and ability to produce clear written records and reports. 

• Have exceptional people skills and the ability to build positive partnerships and relationships with key stakeholders. 

• Ability to work sensitively with survivors, those who are subject to allegations and/or those that may pose a risk.

About the role

Sightsavers Ireland, established in 2003, actively supports our global mission through the Global Citizenship Education (GCE) programme, part of our Irish Civil Society Partnership grant with Irish Aid. This programme aims to enhance awareness and understanding of disability-inclusive development and Ireland’s overseas aid initiatives.

The Global Citizenship Education Manager will oversee key indicators across various education settings, manage budgets, working groups, supplier relations, and deliver educational activities.

Responsibilities

• Implement the GCE programme, ensuring activities, resources, and projects align with the programme design and strategies.
• Achieve all indicators in the results framework.
• Meet IDEA Benchmark of self-assessment 4 and complete action plan activities.
• Manage programme finances, including budgeting, reforecasting, and payments.
• Maintain relationships with schools, institutions, working groups, INGO partners, OPDs, suppliers, and colleagues.
• Ensure accurate programmatic and financial reporting.
• Lead learning, evaluation, and programme design activities.
• Comply with GDPR, safeguarding policies, and communication guidelines.
• Participate in cross-organisational strategy initiatives.
• Secure media coverage with communications colleagues.
• Work with the global campaigns team to deliver one campaign per year to the Irish public.

Jobholder Requirements

Essential:

• Well-developed organisational and programme management skills.
• Proven track record of managing multi-stakeholder projects.
• Strong knowledge of how digital and media outreach can support public engagement.
• Experience as a spokesperson.
• Substantial experience in a communications, global citizenship, or public engagement role.
• Knowledge of Sightsavers Ireland’s work and an understanding of key development issues.
• Familiarity with the main target groups and audiences engaged by Sightsavers Ireland.
• Experience with communications through social networking sites, particularly for campaigning on development issues.
• Third-level degree, preferably in Development Studies, Education, or a related discipline.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, appealing to a broad range of audiences including children and adults with disabilities.
• Ability to travel throughout the island of Ireland.
• Team player with excellent interpersonal and networking skills.
• Energy and enthusiasm for delivering classroom activities, workshops, activations, and presentations

About the Role

This role provides the opportunity to work across a broad range of projects from powerful interviews with veterans to dynamic campaign content and behind-the-scenes glimpses of our work—you’ll lead the way in bringing our mission to life through film.

As Senior Videographer, you’ll also supervise a videographer in the team—offering guidance and creative leadership to help us deliver high-quality, content across all our channels.

You will be responsible for the development, production, and post-production of all the Charity’s video content.

You will be creating both internal and external-facing video to support marketing, communications and wider charity goals. As part of the content team, you will be consulting with internal clients offering creative guidance and managing projects from conception to filming through to final edit. You will also be expected to collaborate at times with external creative resource.

You will be part of a small team of experts who thrive on creative thinking and finding innovative ways to create engaging content. This small and dynamic team is part of the wider Marketing and Communications team who work collaboratively, supporting each other on a variety of exciting projects.
