Job description

Are you looking to make a difference to the lives of dogs across the country?
We're looking for an enthusiastic, driven Senior Vet Nurse to join our veterinary team at our London office.

About this role
As Senior Vet Nurse at the London office, you’ll:

  • be responsible for supporting teams throughout the organisation with the veterinary aspects of a dogs’ journey through the rehoming process,
  • be responsible for the smooth-running of our supported vet care schemes, which provide financial support for essential veterinary care to owners and dogs in exceptional circumstances, working closely with both vets and adopters,
  • provide cover in our central pharmacy, including dispensing and sending medication,
  • manage Vet Nurses, including ongoing support and mentorship.

About you
To be successful in this role, you’ll need to be a Registered Vet Nurse with significant experience, ideally in both the charity sector and recent practice experience. You’ll have excellent interpersonal skills and enjoy working in a team, with a flexible attitude and confident IT skills. You’ll be self-motivated and have a genuine interest in the aims of Dogs Trust. Dogs Trust actively encourage professional development, with opportunities to work alongside our in-house behavioural teams, and a generous CPD allowance (including access to external opportunities). Additionally, RCVS fees for Vet Nurses are paid.

About Dogs Trust
We love dogs. That’s why we do whatever we can to make sure every four-legged friend gets the love they deserve. We’ll never put a healthy dog down, so our work is focused on helping dogs in need, supporting owners every step of the walk, and creating a better world for dogs in the future. It’s what we’ve been doing since 1891 and how we’ve grown to become the UK’s leading dog charity, helping 12,000 loyal friends find their forever homes every year.

About this team
The Veterinary Department is a friendly team of veterinary nurses, veterinary surgeons and administrative staff working in the London Office. The primary responsibility for this team is to provide case guidance and management options for dogs within our care across our network of Rehoming Centres and other veterinary related schemes such as Outreach, Shared Adoption Scheme (SAS), Veterinary Support Fund (VSF) and the Emergency Trust Fund (ETF).
