Finance Assistant (Part-Time) 
 
Location: Shoreditch, East London 
Salary: £27,008 (pro rata to £16,205 for 22.5 hours per week)

Reporting to the Head of Operations, the Finance Assistant will play a vital role in the day-to-day financial administration of the charity. You will manage transactions using QuickBooks, process invoices and payments, assist with payroll, support the preparation for audit, and maintain accurate financial records. You'll also help us improve our financial systems as we continue to grow and adapt. 

This role also includes occasional receptionist cover, so we’re looking for someone friendly, reliable and adaptable.

Working arrangements

About you

To succeed in the role, you should have:

• Proven experience of showcasing the impact of a charitable organisation for an audience of high-level donors, preferably in a medical science context, to foster repeat and lifelong support.
• Proven experience of producing high specification documents for a discerning readership, encompassing experience in copywriting, desktop publishing including InDesign and the effective use of images.
• Demonstrable project management experience, preferably in producing short and longform written materials from conception to delivery, in both digital and hard copy formats.
• Experience of working with internal and external stakeholders towards a common goal.
• Ability to work autonomously and deliver high quality work to a deadline.

Job Purpose:

The main purpose of this role is to lead and coordinate communications activities across the Society’s policy and external affairs activities, ensuring that our work is communicated strategically and visible to appropriate audiences.

Key responsibilities:

Understanding opportunities and the changing external environment  

• Develop our understanding of the preferences and needs of our key internal and external audiences to better align our policy and external affairs communications to those preferences and needs. 
• Monitor and respond to emerging trends to ensure our communications channels and content for policy and external affairs remain timely and relevant.
• Build a network of key contacts across critical and adjacent organisations to maximise potential routes into influencing decision-making and make the best use of resources through collaborative working. 

Development of strategies and plans

• Lead on strategic communication of the Society’s campaign priorities

Media relations

• Expertly advise, assist and brief the Society’s key spokespeople in respect of media relations issues and opportunities.

Content creation and editorial

• Produce write-ups of events and roundtables.

External affairs

• Lead on the Society’s statistical excellence awards programme, including developing and maintaining relationships with awards sponsors to ensure the awards are both impactful and financially sustainable.

Working for the RSS

Pension and benefits

Our defined contribution pension scheme can be joined after three months in post. Your contributions of up to 8% of salary will be double matched by the Society (making a maximum contribution by the Society of 16%). A training budget, season ticket loan, cycle to work scheme and employee assistance programme are also available. 

Location

The RSS office is in central London. We offer flexible working arrangements, and this is a hybrid role with a minimum two days a week working in the office. In person attendance for certain meeting is required, including all-staff / team meetings and governance / committee meetings that take place in person. Limited travel within the UK and internationally may be required.

Working hours

35 per week full-time. Applications for job shares, part-time and flexible working will also be considered. The post-holder will be the point of contact for any out-of-office hours press queries. 

Holidays

25 days per annum, plus bank holidays and an additional shut down between Christmas and New Year.

Wigan & Leigh Hospice is looking for a Marketing and Communications Manager to join our Business Development team.

The hospice is a charity which is firmly embedded in its community and relies on the support of that community to keeps its services running. Often people are surprised that hospices rely so heavily on donations to deliver such essential services, but every day we need to raise £12,000 just to keep the hospice running.

As Marketing & Communications Manager you will play a key role in raising the profile of the hospice, helping our community to better understand the services we offer. We are recruiting for a Legal Clinic Manager (maternity cover) who will be responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the Dickson Poon School of Law’s award-winning clinic, King’s Legal Clinic (‘the Clinic’).  The Clinic aims to improve access to justice and educate King’s students by providing free legal advice to members of the public through its Legal Advice Clinic; and working with local and international organisations on research and justice projects.

The Clinic is a busy legal office and learning environment.  Clinic staff work closely and collaboratively with law students (curricular and extracurricular) and a range of internal and external stakeholders. 

About the role

The Legal Clinic Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operational management of King’s Legal Clinic (‘the Clinic’), under the direction of the Clinic Director and Assistant Director. The Legal Clinic Manager has line management responsibility for the Legal Clinic Coordinator and Legal Clinic Administrator.

Daily Clinic activities include supervising students in the processing of potential client enquires across the in-house Legal clinics; suitability and conflict checks with law firm partners; allocation of cases to student advisors and internal and external supervisors; delivery and organisation of the Clinic’s research and justice projects and training program.

The Legal Clinic Manager is responsible for ensuring the Clinic works smoothly, efficiently and is a positive learning environment and workplace for students and Clinic staff.

The role holder must have excellent organisational, IT, project management, and communication skills.  An ability to relate to and work with a diverse range of students, partner organisations and clients. The position is likely to be of particular interest to a well-organised, proactive individual with experience of working in and managing in a legal environment and/or Higher Education with good academic qualifications. A background in legal practice and/or process improvement work, and demonstrable interest in access to justice is desirable.

The role is a full-time post (1FTE) offered on a 12 months fixed term contract, starting in the first week of July 2025 with the possibility of extension.  The role is based in King’s Legal Clinic (Strand Campus) and will require regular attendance on campus.  Some remote working is possible by prior agreement with the Clinic Director.

Role Overview: 

Reporting to the Deputy Head of Marketing, the PR and Comms Manager will be the storyteller for all things Enable! 

They will execute a yearly PR plan for Enable’s charitable missions, as well as provide PR support for Enable’s varied service areas, including Events, Leisure, Putney School of Art and Design, Bereavement and many more. They will be responsible for Enable’s image externally as well as internally and responsible for holding the relationship with our key stakeholders. The role also involves supporting the preparation and writing of bids for new contracts to secure funding and expand our services. 

This is the perfect role for a confident, outgoing and motivated person – and has a love for crafting stories using different media platforms, supporting and strategising charitable missions and communicating Enable’s mission, values and achievements internally and externally. 

Main Duties/Responsibilities:  

PR 

• Develop and manage integrated PR campaigns around key company products and moments. 
• Write campaign plans, messaging, and create media-facing materials for Enable as a non-profit company, as long as individual service areas. 
• Create compelling storytelling content to showcase the impact of our work through various platforms (Linkedin, Instagram) 
• Build relationships with key media outlets and secure coverage. 
• Be a point of contact for key media enquiries. 
• Provide counsel to internal executives on PR challenges and opportunities. 

Campaign Strategy 

• Develop and execute a communications strategy to raise awareness of our Health and Wellbeing programs and Community Initiatives. 
• Analyse communication campaign performance and refine strategies as needed. 
• Support the development and writing of persuasive bids and funding proposals for new contracts and grants. 
• Collaborate with program leads to gather data, case studies, and evidence to strengthen funding applications. 

Communications – External and internal  

• Managing the relationship with key stakeholders (for example Wandsworth Council), including chairing meetings, regular feedback and reporting. 
• Lead on monitoring, evaluation, and reporting to key stakeholders and partners. Including Enable’s quarterly activity reports and yearly Impact Report. 
• Supporting junior members of staff and providing strategic PR and communication support. 
• Occasional weekend work at some of our events will be required.   

Skills and Experience:  

• 3 + years experience in a Public Relations, Communications or Marketing role 
• Strong PR campaign management skills to develop and execute integrated campaigns
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, confidence to engage with and present to various internal and external stakeholders
• Excellent writing and storytelling abilities for crafting compelling narratives and media-facing materials
• Media relations expertise to build connections with journalists and secure coverage
• Strategic thinking to develop and refine communication campaigns that align with company goals
• Report writing and impact assessment skills to create detailed evaluations for funders and partners
• Project management and multitasking ability to handle multiple initiatives at once
• Passion for health, wellbeing, and community development to align with Enable's mission

About the role

As part of a team, this post will support the Policy, Public Affairs and Communications Manager to advance internal and external stakeholder communications and the development of, and public and political interest in, a more strategic approach to perpetrators of domestic abuse.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week.

Location: Bristol/London/remote, with occasional travel across UK.

INTRODUCTION

Spitalfields Crypt Trust (SCT) is an East London charity, providing practical help, support and training to people affected by homelessness and addiction. We are passionate about the people and communities we support and embrace creative, innovative and inclusive ways of working.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role, you will have the opportunity to use your experience and creativity to deliver an exciting digital, marketing and communications plan, including

Digital Marketing

Create engaging brand social media content and publishing it across our channels, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube and TikTok.

Support services, fundraising and retail marketing on social media, including implementing paid-for advertising.

Create and edit photography and video content for our website and social media channels

Create and send out marketing emails using MailChimp and report on their performance.

Monitor responses on our social media channels, ensuring messages and comments are responded to in a timely manner.

Support our WordPress website, including updating pages and uploading posts and stories, and look for opportunities for search engine optimisation.

Monitor the performance of our WordPress website and ensure that senior managers are alerted to any issues that arise.

Communications

Write case studies, blogs and other written content, working with colleagues across the organisation.

Design posters, flyers, brochures and reports using Canva, ensuring they are within the SCT brand.

Ensure any materials adhere to SCT brand guidelines.

Retail marketing

Work in collaboration with charity retail colleagues to:

Develop collateral for SCT Shops and Social Enterprises, ensuring materials are high quality and within the SCT brand.

Ensure there is a regular flow of compelling social media content that creates customer loyalty and reaches new customers.

Other duties

Work with the Director of Fundraising, Marketing and Communications and colleagues across SCT on the implementation of our 60th anniversary campaign.

Maintain a marketing calendar and project plans using ASANA.

Work with the Director of Fundraising, Marketing and Communications on PR activities, engaging with journalists and the media, influencers and other stakeholders.

Work in collaboration with colleagues in SCT services teams.

·Attend events and be willing to occasionally work outside working hours (TOIL will be given).

·Actively keep up to date with new developments in marketing and communications.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

 Essential

Digital Marketing

A minimum of two years managing social media accounts, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Linked in.

A good understanding of GDPR legislation and how it relates to digital marketing.

Demonstratable experience of running a WordPress website, planning and uploading content and monitoring its performance

A demonstratable understanding of SEO and Google ads.

Demonstrable experience of managing paid for digital ads via Meta business manager.

Experience of producing creative and impactful social media content, including photography, video and audio materials.

Experience of creating compelling and creative marketing emails using e-mail marketing software such as Mail Chimp.

Experience of working with colleagues to develop their content creation skills and improve their understanding of social media.

Communications and marketing

A love of storytelling and excellent written communication skills, with the ability to write accurate copy for different audiences

Desireable

Proven experience of working within brand guidelines and advising others on brand execution.

Experience using CANVA to produce marketing materials in-house.

Demonstratable experience of managing a marketing calendar and leading planning meetings with internal stakeholders.

Experience in using ASANA or similar project management software.

Experience of working in a charity and working closely with fundraisers to promote their campaigns and activities.
