Head of Commercial Bid Writing

Key Purpose of the role

As a Head of Commercial Bid Writing, you will lead the bid writing team to write multi-million-pound winning bids for agreed contracts, tenders and frameworks in line with the agreed operating model, enabling United Response to retain and grow income in a sustainable way.

Working closely with the Associate Director of Business Development, Senior Relationship Managers, operational subject matter experts you will ensure that all tenders, are written to an excellent standard and meet necessary criteria within internal and procurement timeframes. You will articulate and illustrate information provided to you as well as work up concepts into creative and innovative ideas, in line with The United Response strategy and brand that will lead to significant income growth. This will include research, example gathering, development of new initiatives and engaging internal and external stakeholders, to include in model development and submissions which will lead to significant increases in income. You will lead on the development of comprehensive blue prints for each of our contracts, which will include:

• Rigorous and comprehensive cost benefit analysis for all of our services and bids.
• Comprehensive budgets for bids to ensure that the ROI is met and that the contract is sustainable in the long terms.
• A full risk assessment for the contract to inform decision making for a bid no bid scenario.

Who you are

To be successful, you will have experience of writing bids and frameworks in the social care sector alongside the ability to lead on the development of comprehensive blue prints for contracts. You will have experience of leading and developing rigorous and comprehensive cost benefit analysis for multi million pound contracts and tenders and comprehensive budgets for bids to ensure that the ROI is met.

You will have leadership and motivational experience with a multicultural staff team with the ability to create a high performance environment, while setting and monitoring measures that reflect the corporate objectives and customer goals.

The Activity Manager works with the Head of Operations and other managers and the Board to fulfil the aims of the Charity.

The Activity Manager is responsible for the management and delivery of all activities and activity related matters across the Leisure Department and residential provision.

The Activity Manager will lead by example and demonstrate excellent customer service in all their interactions with our customers and visitors.

The Activity Manager ensures that the objectives are met by working with the management team, partners, other members of staff and volunteers to deliver and develop sustainable activities, securing the necessary resources, and meeting financial and operational targets and commitments.

The Activity Manager leads on the identification, specification, pricing, compilation and submission of all activity-based projects, contributing to bids for funding.

The Activity Manager, Fort Purbrook is part of the Trust team and is expected to follow all rules of employment as laid out in the Staff Handbook, to work to the Vision and Mission of the Trust and to actively contribute to our success by sharing and discussing ideas, by maintaining high standards of work and by building effective relationships with current and prospective clients.

About the role

We are now recruiting a knowledgeable and experienced Climate Resilience Programme Manager to continue leading our climate action strategy. The purpose of the role is to bring climate change expertise to grow, strengthen, deepen, and diversify our innovative programme portfolio, continue to minimise the negative environmental impacts of all of our programmes, and deepen our carbon emissions reduction strategy as we continue to expand the reach and impact of our organisation.

You will build strong partnerships by working closely alongside our local partners in programme design, technical knowledge, implementation and monitoring. It is anticipated that the post will include 3-4 overseas trips per annum.

The role affords huge scope for personal development, with the flexibility and autonomy needed to shape this critical area of programming. A particular objective will be to strengthen the M&E across the portfolio and access additional external funding for scaling up our climate resilience programmes.

You should have:

Essential

• Experience in the climate resilience sector and demonstrable knowledge of how to build and manage climate resilience programmes
• Knowledge of humanitarian and/or livelihoods programming, including monitoring, evaluation accountability and learning (MEAL) processes is critical
• Cross-cultural sensitivity and ability to work with overseas partners with varying levels of English.
• Strong administrative, research, analysis, numeracy and IT skills.
• Excellent oral and written English communication skills with an ability to produce accurate, factual and compelling reports, proposals, and presentations

Desirable

• Demonstrable knowledge of carbon emissions reduction within organisations

The Young Women’s Keyworker will work with young women aged 15-24 to provide specialist 1:1 support to those referred into the service. The service is designed to be a “whole system” response to women and girls in the Criminal Justice System, so a key part of the role will include building relationships with statutory and VCS agencies, to support and encourage more young women to access the Minerva service, as well as setting up specialist referral pathways for young women in the community. 

About You:

 To be successful as the Young Women’s Keyworker you will:

Bring an in-depth knowledge of issues facing women offenders and those at risk of offending; both in and out of the Criminal Justice System. Have a strong understanding of the context and challenges facing vulnerable young women and girls, including the impacts of domestic violence, mental health, and sexual health.

Bring a significant experience of working with young women experiencing issues related to offending and experience of community engagement, advocacy and support work with young people and have proven practical experience of using motivational interviewing and coaching techniques with young women and girls, using a woman-centred approach to build trust and rapport.  You will demonstrate the ability to work in partnership with relevant statutory and voluntary groups, developing and maintaining strong constructive working relationships.

As a Technical Specialist, you will focus on providing research and technical support on GBV across a number of SDDirect’s projects. Your role will involve providing research for our two helpdesks, including the Ending Violence against Women and Children Helpdesk (for UK government staff) and GBV AoR Helpdesk (for humanitarian actors). You could also be involved in providing support to knowledge products and guidance material, policy and programme guidance, specialist research, and monitoring and evaluation of GBV programmes.

Our expert team of canine behaviourists provide behavioural support and advice to teams within Battersea, members of the public, and the rescue organisations we work with around the world. The team design and help implement behaviour modification and training plans for dogs whilst coaching members of the canine care groups through the practical day-to-day steps. They also assist with behavioural and welfare assessments of animals who come into our centres and are on hand to help manage and provide further support with dogs with more complex behavioural needs. The team provide support to dogs during their stay at Battersea, and are also available for continued advice after rehoming.

We are now looking to recruit a Canine Behaviour and Training Advisor for our team in London. Within this role, you will work with our operational teams in the assessment and welfare of the dogs in our care and in the provision of behavioural training and advice for staff, volunteers, customers and external organisations. You will be working as part of a care group to create behaviour modification plans, support with handling difficult dogs and make recommendations, along with the individual care group, for individual dog outcomes.

• Ensure that the Women on the Front Line (WFL) programme strategy and implementation stages are clearly communicated to stakeholders on regular basis.
• Ensure that Mrs Welby is aware of all developments, decisions and issues, building her suggestions and directions into the planning and outworking's of the WFL work.
• Maintain and proactively lead an effective comms strategy for the WFL work for both internal use and external focus. Including producing a bi-annual newsletter.
• Manage translation of the newsletter and any other relevant communications.
• Maintain strong relationships with international WFL champions working closely with the Women on the Frontline Follow-up Coordinator.
• Manage the web developers, toolkit designers, proofreader, and other contractors to deliver projects on schedule and budget. For example, building the website and designing the toolkit.
• Hold the web developers and other contractors to account for hitting targets in design and implementation stages.

• Provide comprehensive understanding of budgets and accounts for the WFL work and be able to participate in, draft and defend funding applications to charitable trusts for funds for future WFL work.
• Organise all administrative support for the WFL international retreats by: supporting visa application processes; negotiating prices of air travel; booking travel; working with in-country supporters to find accommodation and plan / support international WFL stakeholders in joining retreats from countries other than the UK.
• Maintain positive relationships with the largely volunteer WFL committee leaders, ensuring diary commitments for the WFL work are upheld and volunteers are aware of and able to participate in regular meeting cycles and events.
• Responsible for the day-to-day administration of WFL. For example, booking regular WFL meetings, setting up online meetings, taking minutes and actions in meetings, circulating minutes to stakeholders.
• Write reports to senior managers, trusts and funding bodies.

• A salary of £15,567.20 (FTE £38,918) per annum, plus age-related pension contributions between 8-15% of salary. We will also match any pension contributions you make up to an additional 3% of salary.

About the role 

This is an exciting opportunity to join Sustrans as part of the UK-wide Volunteering Team, as the lead representative for Northern Ireland.  

As the Volunteering Development Manager, you will support the development of key volunteering initiatives and projects both across the UK and Northen Ireland. You will play a key role in supporting colleagues in Northern Ireland to identify opportunities to embed volunteering across their work.

Contributing to Sustrans 5-year volunteering strategy aims, you will work closely with the Head of Volunteering to shape and implement this within Northern Ireland. 

You will build and manage internal and external relationships with key people such as partner organisations and the UK-wide volunteering development network. 

This role will require travel and work at locations as necessary to undertake projects on behalf of Sustrans. 

About you 

You should have substantial experience of volunteer engagement and development across all stages of the volunteer journey. You will be experienced in project coordination and implementation. You should also be successful in partnership working with voluntary groups and the private sector. Equity, diversity and inclusion should be evident with impact across your experience.

You will be skilled in training and facilitation delivery.

About the role 

Demand for support for people experiencing homelessness is changing and we have a vacancy in our front facing Engagement and Assessment service. 

This service provides first line support to people experiencing homelessness, assessing their needs, identifying support, and working with other staff and services to address their homelessness. 

We need someone to join this team as a receptionist to increase our capacity to respond to new and existing members of Crisis. 

As the first point of contact, our Engagement and Assessment service greets individuals who are experiencing homelessness or facing a risk of homelessness. You will be working in a fast paced and often challenging environment, explaining and guiding people through the Crisis service offer, and signposting to other local support services. You will need to create a welcoming and encouraging environment, to ensure that people seeking support feel understood and respected. 

No two days are the same, and you will be greeting people, helping signpost to appropriate services and responding to telephone and email enquires in a positive and supportive way. This is a key role as you will be part of a members journey out of homelessness, right from their first presentation. 

About you 

As a receptionist you have a real opportunity to demonstrate your compassion and empathy for people experiencing homelessness as our first point of contact at Crisis. 

Sometimes visitors are distressed by their situation and this role would suit someone who is both resilient and compassionate. 

You will need to have strong communication skills, be able to listen and respond even when people are demonstrating their distress through their language and behaviour. This is where you will demonstrate confidence in your ability to assertively challenge inappropriate behaviour and de-escalate conflict. 

You will develop professional relationships with our members who regularly attend and become part of their progression out of the most difficult of personal circumstances. Our current team tell us how rewarding and motivating this can be. 

You will need to be able to help manage the reception area, spot potential concerns and safety issues and respond to these to ensure that reception is a safe space for new and existing members, and other colleagues. 

You will have experience of working with vulnerable people, balancing this together with an excellent level of customer service, IT skills and an ability to accurately record sensitive information. 

You will be interested in evolving your skills and playing an active role as we continue to develop our Engagement and Assessment service further.

We are looking for an enthuiastic and driven Head of Fundraising and Development who has a strong track record of success in strategic development and management of six-figure funding partnerships and relationship building.

You will develop and foster relationships with the aim of obtaining financial support for the sustainable development and growth of QEST. Stewarding existing funders and developing new business, the role also presents an opportunity over the long term, once funding is secured, to lead and build a fundraising team at a transformational time in QEST’s development and strategic direction.  There is currently a Fundraising Manager.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Working with the CEO and Fundraising Manager to devise, develop, and deliver a fundraising strategy for QEST to achieve diversification of income (restricted and unrestricted) for the long term with a particular focus on:

o Trusts & Foundations (strong track-record)

o Corporate funders

o Statutory funders

o Sponsors/commercial partners

o Major donors and philanthropy

• Reporting to the CEO and Board of Trustees you will secure and maintain sustainable income streams, in line with agreed targets which meet our charitable objectives, focusing on six-figure+ strategic partnerships where possible
•  Developing a communications strategy for fundraising with the CEO and Communications Manager; as well as creating fundraising promotional material for print, newsletters, websites and other media as required

We are looking to appoint our very first Community Engagement Officer who will develop local networks, reach out to people and collate their experiences. You will value inclusion and be able to engage people who may have poorer health consequences because of their care experiences, and the quality of or their access to maternity and other related services.This post is aimed at meeting the needs of mothers, parents and families by asking questions and sharing their insights. You will deliver a workplan in a small team with the Project Officer and MNVP Lead, helping to represent users so that their voices influence the planning, design and safety of public services.
