The focus of parkrun UK’s Health and Wellbeing Team is to improve inclusivity, increase the diversity in participation and maximise the health and wellbeing impact of parkrun across the UK. The Bridge Renewal Trust, working in partnership with the NHS, are delivering an exciting programme, working with our Enhanced Health Management of People with Long Term Conditions (LTCs) initiative. In collaboration with a second Senior Volunteer Coordinator, you’ll be leading on a series of volunteering programmes that we’re really proud of. Since September 2023, student volunteers have raised over £150,000 for charitable causes, given over 2,800 hours of their time to volunteer directly in the local community, and broadcast an award-winning radio station, among other achievements. As the Senior Volunteer Coordinator you will coordinate the onboarding, skills development, and tailored support for volunteer student leaders who, in turn, coordinate their own volunteer teams. We are seeking a Therapeutic Practitioner to join our newly established Health Team. This specialist role will enhance our current provision and improve the quality and breadth of mental health support available to young people. The successful candidate will work within the Health Team, in collaboration with our partner organisation Camden & Islington Young People's Service, to deliver 1:1 emotional and practical support, assist in our drop-in service, and facilitate workshops for all young people experiencing homelessness.

About the role

The Programme Manager will work in the Centre for Ageing Better’s Homes team.

Currently, millions of older people are living in homes that are unsafe – cold, damp, mouldy or with other types of hazards. The Homes team run a series of innovation, research, peer-support and influencing projects, that all seek to ensure that no one lives in a home that endangers their health, wellbeing or financial security. We work across local and national government and collaborate with a range of stakeholders.

The postholder would be responsible for collaborating with colleagues in the design, commissioning and delivery of a number of projects. The Programme Manager will use their creativity and experience to design work that has a clear route to impact, ensuring that everything we do has a traceable link back to the people we are trying to support.

The role will also require that effective programme management processes are followed to ensure effective, timely and impactful projects (e.g. milestone planning, budget management, risk, stakeholder engagement and delivery).

About you

You will be committed to trying to tackle the housing crisis, particularly for older people at risk of poverty, ill-health and facing discrimination. Knowledge of the current housing landscape and/or ageing issues would be an advantage but is not essential.

It is important that you can demonstrate excellent project management skills, designing and delivering projects that have a clear route to impact. Working collaboratively with others and experience writing and communicating complex ideas in an accessible way are essential.

You are likely to be overseeing projects that stimulate change at the local level through supporting service redesign processes, innovation practices and evaluation. Therefore, we are particularly interested in hearing from people who have experience working with organisations to adopt new practices or undertake service redesign, and/or who have commissioned or participated in evaluations.

Our Brent site is the newest addition to the KEEN London community and you'll play a crucial role in its continual development. We have just completed our two year pilot and are looking for a candidate to build on this foundation.  As the Brent Service Coordinator, you'll be solely responsible for the front line delivery of the Brent service: planning, safety, and creating a fun and inclusive environment for all. This will involve working closely with our athletes and their families, supervising our team of volunteer coaches and engaging with the local community.  Additionally, you'll oversee the organisation and execution of off-site trips and contribute to the organisation of our annual residential trip.

You'll be working closely with our Head of Operations and Fundraising Manager to capture our impact and promote our services effectively. Hours: Part-time, 21 hours, to include every Saturday (9:30 am - 14:30 pm) during school terms (and some outside term time).
Salary: £27,300 pa, pro rata’d (£16,380 for 21 hours)

Responsibilities:

Delivery of core services

● Ensure the safe and effective running of weekend activity sessions in your area of London (every Saturday during term time)

● Ensure the safe and effective running of other services in development

● Plan, risk assess and deliver offsite trips

● Act as Child Protection Officer and First Aider for activities in your area

● Manage the session and lead volunteers in the delivery of a varied programme of activities

● Contribute to the development and delivery of new services

Service Delivery Admin

● Analyse attendance, service delivery and impact data

● Communicate with families about upcoming sessions and other information

● Update existing athlete profiles and create profiles for new athletes

● Proactively manage and prioritise the athlete waiting list

● Work to promote services in your local area

Volunteer Coordination

● Liaise with the Volunteer Manager regarding volunteer attendance

● Brief/debrief volunteers every session, including information on children, safeguarding and health & safety procedures

● Pair volunteers with athletes every week, matching volunteer experience with athletes' need

● Plan and deliver a high-quality activities programme for each weekend session

● Support Volunteer Manager to deliver volunteer training sessions on occasional weekday evenings

About the role

Our Surrey Volunteer Recruitment Manager (VRM), who must be based in or very close to Surrey, works closely with VRMs in Herts and London and our marketing team to promote the MCR programme to organisations and individuals.  The purpose is to recruit committed volunteers who will mentor a young person in their school for one hour a week during term time. Based from home, our VRMs work closely with the wider MCR team ensuring a balance of autonomy and support. Travel to meetings, events and the Hertfordshire office are all reimbursed.

Key responsibilities:

• Recruit volunteer mentors to reach monthly targets  both through engagement in the community and with organisations

• Source and attend in person and remote events to recruit volunteer mentors 

• Clearly communicate the charity's purpose and the benefits to young people and mentors, developing purposeful relationships with prospective mentors and organisations through face to face meetings and presentations

• Work with colleagues to deliver on mentor recruitment plans and share best practice

• Working closely with the VRMs in Herts and London and our marketing team manage effective recruitment campaigns 

• Manage systems to evaluate and assess effectiveness of strategy and practice

About you

• Experience of and expertise in relationship-building on an organisational  and individual level 

• Experience presenting compelling and emotionally engaging information sessions  to stakeholder organisations and individuals 

• Experience and understanding of the importance of recruiting a diverse range of volunteers 

• Can-do, proactive, flexible, solution-focused attitude 

• Belief in young people’s potential, modelling motivation, commitment and resilience

• Ideally you will have knowledge of Surrey, its community groups and organisations

You may have experience of mentoring, volunteering or the third sector. You will be a people person, open minded and equally comfortable presenting to large audiences and engaging on a one to one basis.

When someone sustains a spinal cord injury, it is a life changing experience.

Back Up’s Regional Outreach and Engagement team are the very face of the organisation and are based across the UK, working directly with spinal cord injury centres, hospitals – or indeed anywhere that people affected by spinal cord injury may be.
