Job Purpose
 
As BSR’s Marketing and Communications Manager you will deliver impactful communications and data-driven marketing plans that support our mission and vision. 

You’ll work with teams to build strategic marketing and communications plans and manage a tactical calendar of multi-channel activity. All of which will drive engagement with clinical guidance, the latest science and research, quality education programmes, professional events and conferences. 

You’ll focus on promoting member benefits to boost recruitment and retention across the adult, paediatric and adolescent rheumatology community. And you’ll help colleagues to tell compelling stories of our work, to celebrate the work of our members, to showcase rheumatology as a career and to highlight the issues of most importance to our members. 

You’ll lead a talented team that manages the organisation’s communications channels, digital marketing, content strategy, and our people focused brand. Working closely with the Head of Marketing, Communications and Membership, you’ll play a key role in our data capability and insights, helping us to focus on impact led activity. You’ll also help colleagues to gather feedback and intelligence about our members and audiences, enabling us to continually improve our member offering. 

This role requires a creative, pro-active and impact-oriented marcomms professional who excels in both planning and hands-on execution. 

Main responsibilities

Team leadership and development 

• Lead and coach a team responsible for content creation, digital marketing, and membership campaigns 
• Provide regular performance reviews and professional development opportunities for team members 

Marketing and communications 

• Work with teams to develop tailored marketing activity to promote products and services 
• Track, analyse and report on the success/failures of our campaigns to aid understanding, efficiency and improvement 
• Execute marketing campaigns across traditional, digital and social media channels plus experiential 
• Manage the society’s website, overseeing content and performance and work with an agency for any development needs 
• Create compelling messaging that resonates with key audiences, including prospective and current members and stakeholders 
• Oversee the creation of engagement focused content across existing and emerging channels 
• Be a brand ambassador for BSR externally and a brand champion internally, managing tone of voice, editorial and creative identity

Membership growth and engagement

• Analyse membership trends and member feedback to improve member services, benefits, and offerings 
• Manage membership data and segmentation to ensure effective targeting and personalised communication with members. 

Management and impact 

• Manage the marketing budget ensuring cost-effective allocation of resources 
• Track the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and membership programs, adjusting strategies as needed to meet KPIs
•  Use analytics tools and member data to track the performance of marketing efforts and membership engagement

INTRODUCTION

St George’s Hospital Charity manages a portfolio of over 200 Special Purpose Funds (SPFs), with a total over £3.6m. These funds, comprising donor-gifted and community-fundraised income, are designated to support specific wards, departments, research areas, or staff and patient groups. Each SPF is overseen by designated Fund Advisors, comprising staff from St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (the Trust) and City, St George’s University of London, who hold delegated authority for expenditure approvals and funding applications. With over 350 Fund Advisors, effective stewardship is crucial.

We have developed a new organisational strategy focused on enhancing our impact through grant-making, and we are now in an exciting phase of implementation. The Grants Funds Manager will play a central role in delivering this strategy, specifically by implementing a more streamlined and impactful approach to working with Fund Advisors and managing our SPF portfolio. This role will be pivotal in facilitating the transition to a more efficient and effective model of SPF giving. The Grants Funds Manager will also be responsible for the day-to-day management of the SPF portfolio, stakeholder engagement, communications, marketing, and administration, requiring collaboration across the Charity, the Trust, and the University at all levels.

ABOUT ST GEORGE’S HOSPITAL CHARITY

St. George's Hospital Charity, an NHS charity, supports St George’s University Hospitals’ NHS Foundation Trust which via its St George’s Hospital in Tooting and Queen Mary’s Hospital in Roehampton, serves a large population across southwest London, extending support to tens of thousands of patients, staff, and community members. Our daily efforts significantly impact patients, their loved ones, and many dedicated healthcare professionals.

Presently, we contribute grants and generate funds of £2 million annually. With an ambitious goal, we aim to double both our yearly fundraising and grant allocations to reach £4 million within the coming years.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Purpose of the role

To support senior management, the board of trustees and the wider charity leadership team with the strategy implementation, the management and administration of the Charity’s SPFs. As a priority, in the next 12 months, this role is tasked to implement the SPF strategy which has been agreed by the Charity’s Board of Trustees. The strategy is to re-organise and restructure the shape of the SPF portfolio of funds to minimise administrative burden, maximise the charity’s flexibility in spending decisions and reflect the best possible structure of services in the hospital so that we can deliver our charitable purposes of advancing healthcare to maximum effect.

This is why we are looking for someone who has expertise in change management, stakeholder engagement and strategic communication who is able to understand Charity Commission guidance and apply it. These are the skills necessary to implement the SPF strategy.

The next stage of the strategy will require a very strong grasp of detail, strong and confident communication and organisational skills to ensure stakeholders understand planned changes, in order to secure their support for them.

Background to the role

This role was originally created to provide dedicated resource to optimise the efficiency of our SPF portfolio, and champion these SPFs both internally among the Charity’s staff and externally within the Trust and University.

This is a role which must operate at a micro and macro level, paying attention to the detail of management, administration and systems but also with the ability to think strategically and make recommendations to senior management and trustees. The successful candidate will be highly organised and outgoing and will be an excellent project manager, with lots of initiative and the ability to reach out to people to build strong relationships. 

You will be a key member of the Grants team and be managed by the Head of Grants, but you will also work closely with all charity teams given the nature of this all-encompassing role, including providing an important link between Grants and Fundraising because of the income raised into SPFs.

Support Line Worker, £30,000 - £32,000 per annum, pro-rata. Part-time, remote working.
 

The Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre (Rape Crisis South London) is looking for a committed, resilient and skilled helpline support worker to provide high quality emotional support, information and signposting in our Support Line team.  
 

The post-holder will provide emotional support, information and signposting to survivors of any form of sexual violence, of any gender, aged 16 and upwards, and their supporters via phone calls and webchats. Support Line Workers also provide support to colleagues and volunteers as part of their daily duties. Successful applicants will have experience of providing emotional support on a telephone helpline or experience providing support to survivors of sexual violence. You will need to have good knowledge and understanding of the impact of sexual violence and an intersectional feminist and anti-oppressive approach. 
 

We will provide the successful candidate with: 
 

• Monthly clinical supervision 
• A salary of £30 – 32,0000 per annum, dependent on experience, pro rata

Purpose of Post:

Details of the role

About the Role

As our enthusiastic Campaigns Project Manager, you will be responsible for developing and implementing WaterAid's mass campaigning strategy to influence governments and policy makers, driving campaigning actions through stunning, personal, story-led communications. The purpose of which is to increase our political impact and inspire supporters to advocate to end the water crisis.

This role is a Full-Time, 12 months maternity cover, with a starting date from June 2025. Our offices are based in Canary Wharf, London.

In this role you will lead on developing and implementing WaterAid's mass campaigning strategy to influence governments and policy makers, maximising political impact and supporter engagement, identifying opportunities to test innovative ideas.

You’ll also: 

• Devise and manage appropriate supporter journeys for campaigners, developing a relationship with supporters to ensure their support is maximised
• Create phenomenal personal communications, that develop supporter conversations and make lifetime connections
• Help build a team that everyone wants to work with and for, and where people do work that most interests them

To be successful, you’ll need: 

• A good understanding of mass campaigning principles, and a strong interest in creating meaningful individual political actions that result in change
• Proven experience in a successful mass campaigning, direct marketing, supporter engagement and/or customer marketing role
• Solid project management experience, with the ability to manage large, complex projects from start to finish, working to agreed timescales and outcomes and with multiple stakeholders
• A passion for creating phenomenal, unexpected, personal story-led creative, which tells of extraordinary human experiences.

Although not essential, we also prefer you to have:

• Experience of volunteers or campaigners’ management
• Experience with new product development
• Hands-on experience of working with budgets and reporting on financial KPIs

The Norwich Place Project Manager will have the ability to enthuse and inspire businesses to take action to meet the needs of communities across Norwich.

Salary is on the BITC professional level 5 - minimum of £16,757 per annum (i.e. 0.6 FTE of £27,945 per annum)

The Programme Officer (Research) will play an integral role in the Impact team within the broader Directorate of Impact and External Affairs. This is a pivotal time for Fight for Sight as we begin to implement our Impact Framework enabling us to communicate the impact of our extensive portfolio of current and past funded research projects to our internal and external audiences.

The role is diverse and varied, offering the successful candidate the opportunity to build their exposure to a complement of research management activities. In addition to assisting with the implementation of the Impact Framework they will be instrumental in the delivery of our grant funding processes and will have the opportunity to work closely with our Research Grant Assessment Panel and key partners to ensure we achieve the exciting ambitions laid out in our Research Strategy.

Role Responsibilities
Grant-making activities

• Efficiently and effectively managing multiple annual grant award cycles taking responsibility for peer review processes and Panel meetings.
• Ensuring that grant making processes are delivered in accordance with AMRC best practice.
• Courteous and timely management of queries from applicants and other key stakeholders, such as RGAP members.
• Contributing and developing process improvements where necessary to continue to evolve our programme.
• Assist with the preparation of papers to support our decision-making processes including supporting our Research Grants Assessment Panel (RGAP) by ensuring they have all relevant information and that the meetings run smoothly.
• Ensure that formal decisions and outcomes are shared with relevant stakeholders, including applicants and internal colleagues.

Team and Organisation

• Take responsibility for keeping accurate and up to date records ensuring that these are readily and clearly accessible, primarily through CC Grant Tracker and Monday
• Be the first port of call for colleagues with queries related to our research portfolio, including providing support on donor-queries and funding applications.
• Highlighting opportunities for stories of impact with communications colleagues.
• Supporting with the collection and interpretation of impact-related measurements as we implement our impact framework.
• Assist with ad hoc tasks as required for example developing briefing documents, the organisation and delivery of in person and online meetings and events, minuting etc.

Skills, knowledge & experience

Essential

• Biomedical science/ related degree or equivalent experience.
• Understanding of and commitment to the importance of high-quality vision research in the UK.
• Ability to analyse and summarise complex information drawing out key points.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex, scientific information to wide range of audiences.
• Ability to effectively prioritise and manage a varied workload.
• Proficient in the use of standard IT packages including Microsoft Office suite.

Desirable

• Postgraduate degree
• Experience of working in a research or grant making organisation.
• Experience using research and project management tools such as Monday and the online grant management system Symplectic Grant Tracker.

The Director of Policy and Public Affairs will play an important role in protecting and advancing equality and human rights in the UK. This role will focus on growing our policy and public affairs capacity so that we can achieve the goals set out in Together for Social Justice, our 10-year strategy. 

You’ll develop and deliver high-impact policy influencing strategies on our three big issues of law, climate and investment. This will mean working on vital public policy issues such as embedding equality and human rights in the government’s mission-driven approach, ensuring a strong legal framework of rights protections, improving public awareness of the value of human rights, and creating a work programme to ensure that people’s whose rights are most at risk can lead policy development on climate breakdown.

You’ll have a strong track record of creating innovative policy solutions that influence public policy and secure social change; the ability to forge and nurture constructive dialogue and working relationships across the political spectrum and within civil society, and a deep understanding of how to increase racial justice at systemic level. You’ll be confident communicating complex legal and technical issues in an engaging way that brings their practical impacts to life for a wide range of audiences, including the media. You’ll be skilled at bringing people together and working collaboratively.

Tinnitus UK is the UK’s only charity dedicated to tinnitus.

We want to see a world without tinnitus and have just launched an ambitious new 10-year plan setting out what we are going to do about finding cures and preventing people from getting tinnitus, where it is avoidable.

Today though, there are nearly 8 million people in the UK with tinnitus, with well over 1 million of them in or near crisis point. Whilst the majority of people end up being able to live well with tinnitus, the journey can be long, arduous and isolating with periods of significant impact.
