About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for an Advocate to join our team covering Essex. Your role will require you to travel to locations such as clients’ homes, hospitals, care homes and within community settings across the area to meet with clients and professionals. You will be home based for administration; therefore, access to your own transportation and a suitable home internet connection is essential.
About you
Desirably you will have some experience of working in advocacy, or providing welfare, supporting, or caring for Adults or young people who have support needs, ideally for those with a variety of communication needs, mental ill health, physical health issues, or barriers to accessing education and support.
You should have worked or volunteered in health, social care, welfare, support services, education or young person’s services, or advice and guidance.

You will be responsible for ensuring the individual’s wishes, feelings, beliefs, needs, and values are met to create positive outcomes for the people you support.
You will support people to speak up for themselves and grow in confidence, equip them to understand and exercise their rights and options, and will assist them in the decision-making process relating to their care, treatment, and support.
You will work resourcefully and collaboratively with the individuals you support. You’ll be creative in your approach to empower our clients by ensuring you meaningfully explain people’s options and rights to them. You’ll support individuals to fully participate in decisions affecting them and will make sure they have their voices heard.

About the Role
Your objective for the first 12 months in post will be to have:
- Supported the Youth Zone to achieve 1,000 visits by young people a week by ensuring volunteers play a key role in service delivery.
- Collaborated with the delivery and operational team to ensure volunteer opportunities are identified.
- Put in place a robust volunteer recruitment pathway.
- Created a ‘culture of volunteering’ and ensured the critical role of volunteer is understood and valued across the whole organisation.

We have a job vacancy for a Dementia Specialist to join Shine as the Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH) / Dementia Coordinator.
Shine has a membership of over 14,000 members living with Spina Bifida and/or Hydrocephalus and associated conditions and over 6,500 associated members.
In the last year we have seen a 25% increase in members who are living with Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH) across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. You will work directly with care experienced children and young people and those on Child Protection Plans providing them with advocacy support in the community and a variety of settings.

You will collaborate with Jewish communities and synagogues, orchestrating and overseeing community events, and managing related clerical tasks. You will also be responsible for liaising with external agencies and assisting in the production of departmental reports.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include contributing to educational and research projects, delivering exceptional customer service, and enhancing departmental systems and processes. Who are we looking for?
We are seeking someone with A-Levels or equivalent qualifications and a genuine interest in improving older people’s lives. Proficiency in office procedures and IT skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and video calls) is essential. Experience in healthcare or education settings is also desired. Prior experience in a similar role, along with project management skills, is advantageous, especially in supporting service developments from initial stages to full implementation.

The Community Leader (Director) leads the Community in living the mission of L’Arche in our community life, by providing outstanding, person-centred and financially sustainable care and support services, by support for shared community and spirituality, and by engagement with the wider community around us.
