JOB PURPOSE
UK for UNHCR are looking for a proactive team player with drive and enthusiasm to join us as we develop our operations function. This is an opportunity to shape our processes, identifying areas for operational efficiency, designing and implementing new processes and policies, ensuring compliance with charitable and regulatory requirements, managing digital systems and streamlining workflows.
We’re a small team in a small organisation with big ambition. If you are an organised and detail-oriented person with a good understanding of charity policies and regulations, as well as experience with optimising operational workflow and systems to ensure that the organisation can run more smoothly and efficiently, we want to hear from you. While specialist IT knowledge is not a prerequisite, the manager must be confident working with our specialist IT agency to understand areas such as cybersecurity and help deliver operational processes to support this. Role Responsibilities
Compliance and Governance
- Develop, implement and maintain the charity's compliance and policy framework to ensure adherence to relevant regulations, including charity law and data protection.
- Prepare and manage regulatory filings to Charity Commission
- Maintain risk registers and ensure an effective risk management process is in place.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on compliance-related matters.
- Work closely with SMT, managers and relevant subject matter experts to develop, implement and review operational policies and procedures.
- Support the Finance Director in maintaining the Charity’s insurance portfolio, in line with the Charity’s risk appetite whilst ensuring value for money.
IT Management
- Oversee IT strategy, systems, and infrastructure (including hardware, software and Cybersecurity) to ensure user-centric, efficient and secure operations.
- Lead projects to modernise IT systems and introduce digital solutions to improve organisational efficiency.
- Be part of Data Protection Steering Group, to ensure data security and compliance.
- Monitor IT budgets and identify opportunities for cost optimisation.
- Establish and maintain relationships with key IT suppliers, ensuring they meet service delivery standards.
Facilities Management
- Maintain the charity’s premises, ensuring they are safe, secure, and well-maintained.
- Manage health and safety obligations, including risk assessments and compliance audits.
- Lead efforts for sustainability and environmental initiatives within facilities management.
- Coordinate third-party contracts and service agreements for maintenance and building services.
Contracts and Grant agreements Review and Management
- Responsible for reviewing new or existing agreements as required. Examples include: Service Agreements, Corporate Partnerships Agreements, Licensing Agreements, Consultancy Agreements, Statements of Works, Non-Disclosure Agreements or any other terms & conditions from a business and procurement perspective.
- Build strong relationships across departments to ensure contractual terms reflect business requirements.
- Responsible for identifying key issues for escalating to stakeholders and/or senior management until resolved.
- Responsible for ensuring all contracts and grant agreements are registered and kept up to date within the Contracts Register until contracts are concluded. Ensure renewals and changes are processed in a timely manner.
- Support stakeholders in supplier performance management, to ensure suppliers and UK for UNHCR meet their contractual obligations. Identify and advise on risks that may arise through the operation of the contract.
- Support budget holders to plan and execute tenders for both goods and/or services.
- Responsible for maintaining the library of templated agreements and contract documents, ensuring templates are updated promptly in line with changes to UK for UNHCR policies or processes.
- Ensure Procurement policies are adhered to, controls maintained, and any issues flagged to the Finance team and Finance Director. Suggest improvements to controls where appropriate.
- Support colleagues monitor supplier performance against service level agreements (SLAs) and address any issues promptly.
- Support fundraising colleagues monitor compliance with grant terms and conditions, including deadlines for deliverables and reporting.
General Management & Strategy
- Provide line management and career development support to the Operations Assistant.
- Ensure IT tools and solutions follow the principles of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in their design and application.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives across operational areas.

- Proven experience in managing IT systems or working with outsourced IT services.
- Proven experience of working in a procurement environment, including contract review, negotiation and execution

Chief Executive Officer
This is a unique opportunity to join an international children’s charity as its Chief Executive Officer, making a real and lasting transformation in the lives of children in Darfur, Sudan.
Position: Chief Executive Officer

About the role:
This is a crucial position as it will be your responsibility to ensure the growth of the charity, enabling us to support even more children and their families in Darfur, Sudan. You will be an experienced and highly motivated leader overseeing the overall development of the charity, ensuring its continued success in its next phase of the charity’s growth. You will oversee the charity’s budget to ensure the long-term financial sustainability and be responsible for the charity’s fundraising, grants, individuals and our events. You will lead a passionate and dedicated team including working with our volunteers, both in the UK and in the USA and Australia. You will also play a key role in building relationships with donors, potential donors, corporates and other stakeholders.
You will work closely with the Country Director (currently our Founder) for Darfur and oversee projects and assist recruitment in Sudan as soon as it is safe to do so. At present our Sudan staff are working from outside the country as Darfur faces extreme violence. Projects within Darfur are implemented by the Steering Committee, who are volunteer village leaders working with the charity since 2010.
Your main duties will include:
• Provide vision and leadership for the charity setting the overall vision and strategic direction, ensuring alignment with its mission and values.
• Develop and implement a strategic plan in collaboration with the Board of Trustees.
• Act as the public face of the charity, undertaking a range of speaking opportunities and acting as a media spokesperson.
• Manage day-to-day operations, ensuring the effectiveness and efficient use of charity resources.
• Oversee budgeting and financial planning – manage the charity’s finances, including budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting.
• Build relationships with celebrities, Patrons and key Stakeholders.
• Ensure the charity is compliant with legal, regulatory and financial requirements.
• Regularly report to the Board on all aspects of the charity’s work, ensuring accurate timely updates on funding, operations and emerging needs.

We are seeking a Research Funding Officer (Research Insight) to work mainly on our two grant programmes – the WCRF International Regular Grant Programme and the INSPIRE Research Challenge. As part of our Research Funding team, you will support high quality and innovative research on the effects of diet, nutrition, physical activity and body composition on cancer prevention and survival, managing an international portfolio of grants and working closely with leading researchers around the world.
The Research Funding Officer (Research Insight) will work mainly on the pre-award phase of the grant programmes (e.g. supporting the development and launching new calls for applications, organising and coordinating Panel meetings, managing the peer review process and contributing to the development of grant related Board documentation).
You will have some experience of working in a fast-paced research environment (academia or research administration/management), of writing in different formats and of communicating and presenting information to a range of audiences. You will be educated to BSc level (MSc level desirable but not essential) in Biological Sciences or Nutrition.
You will also have some experience working with scientific committees and understanding and awareness of general research management and administration policies and procedures.
In addition to the grant programmes, you will have the opportunity to contribute to other Research Funding activities such as the surveillance of the current research landscape and co-funding opportunities. About the role
The Head of Executive Office provides oversight, coordination, and leadership for cross-functional activities, in particularly leading cross-organisational planning, setting performance measures, reporting, and monitoring of our annual and multi-year strategy and plans, and supporting the organisations effective governance to deliver on these. - Lead innovation in our individual giving approach in a test and learn culture
- Collaborate proactively across the organisation to find, develop and share stories that will inspire support

To be successful in this role, you need relevant experience in:
- A fundraising role in a charity of comparable breadth and scope with proven success in growing income
- Being a great project manager and successfully managing multiple, often competing projects through to delivery
- Identifying and successfully implementing proactive initiatives to grow and diversify income
- Reporting and monitoring success so as to adapt and refine fundraising projects and products

Training and Development Officer
Key responsibilities:
The postholder will deliver training and consultancy to staff in (mainly) primary, Early Years and secondary school settings. The training and consultancy we offer is often bespoke and so all delivery team members contribute to the development of new courses and resources as required.
The training and consultancy may relate to one of our projects (such as Local School Nature Grants or Climate School 180) or be commercial training requested by a setting or local authority.
Flexibility is important as travel will be required and delivery sessions may take place after normal school hours. It will usually be your responsibility to communicate with settings to agree dates and times for delivering the training. The settings may be local or some distance away, so planning your diary to combine visits to reduce travel may be appropriate. When agreed, overnight accommodation and car hire (within budget) may be required.
What would a typical week look like?

About the opportunity:
The Tutor Communications Officer will work closely with the Communications and Media Manager to support all aspects of stakeholder communications and engagement at Action Tutoring. The role will require you to develop engaging and motivational content when communicating with our volunteer tutor network, schools and other stakeholders.
The Tutor Communications Officer will develop their data management and analytical skills, when evaluating the impact of communications and maintaining subscriber data. About the role

Your covering letter should be no longer than two sides of A4. Please indicate in your cover letter, should you choose to, whether you are applying through the Disability Confident Scheme.
We also offer candidates the choice of submitting a video clip (ie. a video cover letter) if this is preferable to a written cover letter. To ensure fairness we suggest you turn the camera off so that we only hear your voice. The video should be no more than 2 minutes in length. For the video cover letter, the following should guide your speaking points:
- Your name;
- The job you are applying for;
- Describe your overall skills and abilities (as they relate to the post being advertised);
- A brief description of your work experience (in relation to the post being advertised);
- What makes you qualified for the new position;
- Any additional details that help introduce yourself
You should choose either a written cover letter or a video cover letter, but we request that you please DO NOT submit both.
Closing deadline for CV and cover letter is 9am on Monday 17th March 2025.
Shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete a short supplementary information form.
Interviews will be held online on Monday 24th and Tuesday 25th March 2025.
