This role will predominantly be working from our Day Centre but will also include work with night shelter clients.

Within the Day Centre you will be required to provide advice and advocacy and casework to people who are homeless and at risk of homelessness and maintain a caseload of clients working within a fast paced and dynamic small team. You will support the smooth running of the day centre provision and have a commitment to supporting vulnerable clients in a person-centred way. 

To be successful in this role will require a keen interest in homelessness and the devastating impact this can have on people. This role is suited to someone with a problem solving, positive attitude, who is passionate about supporting marginalised people.   

Our day centre service is currently open three days per-week offering respite, food and somewhere safe to be for anyone facing street homelessness. It provides advocacy and casework services to those who are vulnerably housed or homeless, supporting them to address their individual crisis and the underlying causes. We also provide a small year-round night shelter provision. 

APAP works in close partnership with a number of key agencies locally including drug and alcohol teams, street outreach services, local authority housing teams and the wider VCS. We are a gateway service in the community through which our clients can access a range of support.

The role will entail expanding our volunteer base, developing processes and procedures to effectively support them and managing them on site. The role will report to the Senior Project Worker.

The Community Fundraising and Partnerships Coordinator will be responsible for developing and nurturing relationships within the local community to support APAP’s fundraising efforts, including schools, local businesses, faith and community groups. A key feature of this role will be developing increased year-round community engagement and fundraising, leading into the planning and delivery of at least one annual fundraising campaign. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to engage directly with stakeholders to build strong partnerships, whilst contributing strategically to the growth of the charity's fundraising efforts.

Help the Homeless Leicester (HTH) is expanding its frontline team with two proactive Caseworkers to support families in temporary accommodation as part of our Families Navigator Project. This is a unique opportunity to work directly with families experiencing homelessness, helping them move forward into secure, stable housing. The role is for 12 months, with the potential for extension, offering a unique opportunity to shape and deliver vital support to families experiencing homelessness.

You’ll play a key role in tackling the practical and emotional challenges faced by families in temporary accommodation—offering guidance, advocacy and access to resources that make a real difference. 

The project’s primary aim is to support homeless families in temporary accommodation by helping them to access and secure accommodation in the private rental sector. Additionally, the project seeks to alleviate the challenges and hardships often experienced by families in temporary accommodation. This will be achieved by providing additional resources, enrichment activities, and opportunities that foster a sense of stability and community. The role will also encompass safeguarding, facilitating workshops, signposting to relevant services, and delivering direct, tailored support to empower families.

Key Responsibilities:

Family Support and Housing Assistance:

• Build trusting and empathetic relationships with families, offering tailored, one-to-one guidance.
• Help families overcome barriers to accessing private rental housing, including applying for rent and deposit assistance and addressing landlord concerns. 
• Assist with property searches and provide guidance on navigating tenancy agreements and maintaining housing stability.

Workshops and Community Engagement:

• Facilitate or support workshops to educate families on accessing the private rental sector, managing tenancy responsibilities and overcoming housing challenges.
• Foster a welcoming, inclusive environment for families to engage with and learn from one another.

Resource Coordination and Guidance:

• Provide accurate information and signpost families to relevant services, such as benefit maximisation, employment support and health services.
• Make referrals to external organisations where appropriate, ensuring families receive holistic support.

Safeguarding and Confidentiality:

• Act in accordance with HTH’s safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of all families.
• Identify and report safeguarding concerns promptly and appropriately.
• Maintain confidentiality and ensure all personal data is handled securely and ethically.

Administration and Reporting:

• Maintain detailed and accurate records of interactions and outcomes for each family.
• Contribute to project monitoring and evaluation by tracking key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Report challenges, trends, and outcomes to the Team Leader and Management, raising any concerns as needed.

Experience and Skills:

• Experience in casework, housing support, or working with vulnerable families in crisis.
• Knowledge of the private rental market, rent and deposit schemes and housing support services.
• Strong understanding and application of safeguarding principles.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and rapport with vulnerable individuals.
• Strong organisational and communication skills, with attention to detail in record-keeping and reporting.
• Familiarity with local resources, benefits systems and employment support services is desirable.

We’re excited to be launching a brand-new Housing First service in Camden next month, and we’re looking for a passionate, skilled individual to join our team! You will be working in a unique new service that for the first time will be offering support to couples who have been rough sleeping and are to be accommodated separately in their own flats. With a three-year commission and the ability to support 30 individuals, this is your chance to be part of a fresh and impactful initiative within our organisation. You will work from a base in Kings Cross, delivering support in the community and within the homes of your clients. You will carry a case load of 5 people and will provide intensive and flexible trauma informed support that is centred around the strengths and needs of everyone. You will work closely with a wide range of external statutory agencies and specialist colleagues in the team who will include: a health worker, an IDVA, psychologist, sessional occupational health, and perpetrator support. 

The service will support an equal number of women and men. The people given priority for the service are likely to have been rough sleeping for prolonged periods, have been multiply excluded from services and have co-occurring conditions. There will be a strong emphasis on safety in situations that might relate to complex abuse within relationships and externally. 

About you:

• Experience working with clients who experience multi disadvantages, including building trust and positive relationships with people who have co-occurring conditions and who may be mistrustful and have a low level of engagement with services.
• A proven track record of achieving measurable outcomes with clients with complex needs.
• Awareness of the intersection between severe and multiple disadvantage and violence against women and girls (VAWG), and an understanding of how the intersection of these issues can be supported and the people involved safeguarded.
• To show leadership qualities; skills of a strong negotiator; ability to advocate and be diplomatic.
• A level of numeracy, literacy and comprehension to input data, the ability to be fully self servicing in the use of emails and the common computer packages including SHP’s client recording system.

The MHC Day Centre provides a vital refuge for individuals experiencing homelessness or at risk of losing their homes. Serving as a hub for essential services and support, the centre offers access to washing facilities, assistance with applications for benefits, jobs, and housing, and a nourishing home-cooked meal - all within a warm, friendly, and non-judgmental environment. Through these services, the centre helps restore dignity and stability to those in need. Meanwhile, our supported accommodation steps in where local councils may struggle to provide housing, helping individuals find long-term, stable solutions to their situation. We are seeking a Manager to run our Day Centre and oversee the Food Bank and Goodsell House, our 10 bedded supportive housing unit

You will manage a small, dedicated staff and volunteer group who provide ongoing support to homeless people, with the aim of moving them on to permanent accommodation wherever possible.

Harrogate Homeless Project is seeking to recruit an Activities and Volunteer Coordinator to join the Fundraising and Marketing team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the growth and development of Volunteering within the organisation and make a real difference to our work by putting together meaningful activities for our clients to participate in.

The post holder will be responsible for the recruitment and onboarding of HPP’s volunteers, ensuring our volunteer database is kept up-to-date and the planning and management of our client activity programme.

At Lancaster & District Homeless Action Service (LDHAS) our primary aim is to support homeless and vulnerably housed people into secure accommodation and provide assistance to maintain said accommodation, in addition to providing mental health, substance abuse, and advocacy support to ensure long-term quality of life and inclusion for our clients.

Providing a competitive starting salary of £18556.20 per annum for 22.5 hours per week, we are looking for an Engagement Officer (EO) to work alongside our two other Engagement Officers, who will triage and support clients and build a support package in liason with visiting professionals, volunteers, and staff of LDHAS in line with its aims and objectives. As a member of the LDHAS team you will be enrolled into the NEST pension scheme and will be entitled to 5.6 weeks annual leave (pro rata).

You  will ensure that good relations are maintained with the neighbours of LDHAS and with the local community, and that LDHAS clients in the immediate vicinity of the building are conducting themselves in an acceptable way. You will motivate and enable clients as they engage with LDHAS and liaise with a variety of homeless hub organisations as required.

You will manage footfall in the building ensuring that health and safety protocols and procedures are maintained throughout the building during the hours of opening and assist the other Engagement Officers with clothing, shower, and laundry facility management.

The successful applicant will have a communication style that motivates and enables people and will be able to maintain relationships and gain the cooperation of others. This requires the skills to motivate, negotiate, persuade and empathise. You will be working as part of a team of 6 staff, 2 to 3 volunteers per day, and regular visiting agency staff. The job will be based at our day centre at LDHAS, 2 Aalborg Place, Lancaster LA1 1BJ.
