We offer specialist information and resources through our website, host over 80 peer support groups monthly and offer a 1-1 peer support line and moderated eCommunity. We also work with research organistions and campaign to ensure bipolar voices are heard.

As Fundraising Officer, you will be playing a pivotal role in nurturing and growing our supporter-base across individual giving and events so that we can scale up our services to meet the needs of our community.

Position: Fundraising Officer (fixed term - initially 1 year)

What you’ll be working on:

You'll be maintaining excellent stewardship to nurture and grow our supporters across a range of income streams

Peer Support Group Development Officer - Midlands Area

Overview:

Following the successful application of a National Lottery award, we are seeking two dedicated and compassionate Peer Support Group Development Officers to set up and sustain local peer support groups for people living with and affected by prostate cancer. These roles focus on building on our established networks to expand peer support in defined areas, facilitating group formation, and enhancing service delivery through strategic outreach and resource development.

This role offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of individuals living with and affected by prostate cancer, providing crucial support through community-based initiatives. Key Responsibilities:

• Group formation and support: Oversee the setup and operation of 10-12 self-sustaining and independent peer support groups within your assigned region across the lifetime of the three-year project. Ensure smooth delivery, monitoring, and evaluation of group activities. Support existing group leaders and organisers to reach more people living with and affected by prostate cancer with tools and resources.
• Volunteer Coordination: Recruit, train, and support volunteer Support Group Leaders. Assist in the co-production of training materials and resources, aimed at creating self-sustainable groups.
• Community Engagement: Conduct outreach to map existing support services and facilitate the integration of these services with the peer support groups. Host local engagement events to boost volunteer recruitment.
• Data and Case Management: Use a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to support high-quality volunteer and case management, ensuring accurate data collection to support service outcomes.
• Training and Development: Develop and deliver tailored training programmes for volunteers based on the specific needs of Group Leaders and Organisers. Set up regional forums for sharing best practices and peer networking. Encourage use of Members Portal to share good practice.
• Documentation and Compliance: Ensure compliance with Best Practice Guidance document. Ensure adherence to safeguarding policies to maintain safe governance of peer support groups.

Additional information

Place of work: 27a Pembridge Villas, London W11 3EP.  Some outreach work will be expected ranging from one-off events to placements within local organisations or community centres. 

Salary: £31,000 - £34,000 dependent on experience (generous 10% employer's pension contribution rising to 15%  after five years)

Hours of work: 37½ hours, Monday to Friday.  The usual working hours for this post are 9.00 am – 5.00 pm. Some start time flexibility could potentially be offered post-induction/training.

Holiday: 28 days per annum + Bank Holidays.

Training: Training and support in post is provided on an on-going basis and training in specific areas will be offered as need and interest arise. This role is responsible for supporting the growth, planning and delivery of KCLSU campaigning and organising activity ensuring that elected officers, Academic Associations, Networks and students are enabled and empowered to create strategic, member-led campaigns. Support our members to develop, shape and deliver their agenda, providing advice, coaching and guidance on how to develop impactful campaigns and projects. Work as part of the Student Voice Team to embed campaigning and organising across all areas of our work ensuring that students from every segment of the membership are empowered to make change through campaigns. Enable our communities (Academic Associations, Liberation Networks and Student Representatives) to grow and develop into effective representative bodies.

Responsibilities include:

Growing, planning & delivering KCLSU campaigns

• Provide resources, support and mentoring to student officers and student campaigners, utilising digital and offline organising models of engagement, to support them to develop hard-hitting and effective campaigns.
• Coordinate and work with KCLSU teams to support representatives and members in delivering their campaigns and communicate the impact of campaigning at KCLSU, building interest and recruiting new activists as a result.
• Deliver a range of approaches to student voice engagement, developing diverse methods of participation and innovative practices for facilitating student decision-making, co-creation, and capturing insight.
• Work with external organisations to lead on KCLSU involvement in local, national and NUS campaigns.

Our Community Connector’s serve as the first point of contact for those visiting our sites, providing support for people to engage with services and activities.

The role aims to build relationships, identify peoples’ interests and goals and find appropriate opportunities for support. This role will be largely based in our main location, in Bromley by Bow, and Welcome Hub in East India Dock Rd, which we are developing in partnership with Poplar HARCA, an award-winning housing association in East London.

The role may also be deployed to other sites to support with gaps in capacity e.g. due to annual leave, sickness or other absences of staff. Wherever based, our Community Connectors work to ensure that members of the community are aware of support available to them locally.

The role will also involve co-designing, developing, delivering, and reviewing a programme of activities and resident-led initiatives. The role is very much integrated with other services provided in our locations, mainly our advice services (e.g. social welfare, energy and financial capability) and our open access services.
We expect all our staff to be able to work with some flexibility across Centre’s and offer support to the community. This role will support teams if a sudden need arises due to lack of capacity.

Purpose of the role

We are looking for a creative, organised, and disciplined person to take on a key role within our rapidly expanding organisation. As the Communications and Digital Officer, you will be central in the implementation of Black Thrive Global’s communications strategy. You will be supporting our Communications Manager in the delivery of all aspects of communications and marketing activity with both key stakeholders and the public.

You will help to support the creation of a compelling and consistent narrative about the work that Black Thrive Global does across all our communication channels. You will be integral in helping to disseminate key messaging for core projects and work-streams working closely with our internal teams and external partners. 1.  Produce compelling and engaging content for internal and external blog posts, newsletters, and digital content across our communication channels.

Who are Guts UK Charity?

People are suffering. People are dying. All because of a lack of knowledge about our guts. 

Guts UK is the only charity that covers all of the digestive system, from ‘top to tail’ covering the gut, the liver and the pancreas. Guts UK works actively and collaboratively with other charities. However, with our own limited resources, we choose to focus particularly on the conditions that have no other specific charity or voice - those illnesses that really are underserved such as pancreatitis, diverticular disease, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), childhood gut and liver disease and digestive cancers.

Overall Purpose of the Head of Research

The Philanthropy and Trusts Manager is an exciting new role at Guts UK and will be integral to delivering our new fundraising strategy, enabling us to grow our income to meet our ambitious strategic aims.

• You will be responsible for prospecting, soliciting, developing, engagement, stewardship and retaining key relationships with trust and foundations in line with Guts UK’s strategic framework.

The successful candidate will be an experienced, relationship-focused fundraiser, excited by the opportunity to play a key part in elevating our fundraising programme.

Key Responsibilities

Support the Social Media Manager to deliver an exceptional experience for our audiences across our social media channels.  

·       Manage day-to-day organic social media activity across 3 charity brands, including the creation of basic static and video content and daily community management. 

·       Manage the social media content calendar, including brainstorming meetings and identifying key awareness days, to ensure that we’re posting regular highly engagement content.  

·       Use social media analytics to embed regular reporting through weekly and monthly updates.  
·       With the support of the social media manager, develop organic social content to support strategic and fundraising goals.  
·       Work with a wide variety of colleagues from different areas of the charity and our partners to ensure social media supports their objectives.  
·       Manage day to day administration of social accounts, including data, paid social invoices, donation reports and basic analytics. 
Provide social media support on the day during our fundraising events, including at weekends.

Experience:

·       Experience running and managing a busy content calendar, including brainstorming meetings. 
·       Experience creating static and video content for social media channels including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. 
·       Experience working with different teams to create content which meets different goals. 
·       Experience of community management, engaging with supporters to make them feel appreciated and representing the brand online.

 Skills, abilities and knowledge:

·       Experience using social media scheduling tools such as Sprout Social or Hootsuite to manage content.
·       Excellent editorial and copy writing skills with a knowledge of plain English communications and strong attention to detail.
·       Experience writing in different tones of voice is key; ideally experience working across multiple brands at the same time.
·       Experience in using data to make informed decisions, ideally with experience of using social media and Google Analytics. 
·       Motivated by results and be comfortable in a data driven environment.
·       Comfortable working with stakeholders of all levels of the organisation and building collaborative relationships.
·       Ability to stay updated on social media news and trends, emerging platforms and best practices.
