About Us
The Wildlife Trusts are a federated movement of 46 charities, supported by a central charity, the Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts. Together we have 900,000 members, 32,500 volunteers and 3,400 staff across the UK. We are at an exciting moment in our 110-year history, with the development of an ambitious new strategy, setting out a vision for nature in recovery, with abundant, diverse wildlife and natural processes, creating wilder landscapes where people and nature thrive.
Wildlife Trusts have restored and care for some of the most special places for wildlife in the UK. Collectively we manage more than 2,300 nature reserves, operate 123 visitor and education centres and own 29 working farms. We undertake research, we stand up for wildlife and wild places under threat, and we help people access nature.
The next few years will be critical in determining what kind of world we all live in. We need to urgently reverse the loss of wildlife and put nature into recovery at scale if we are to prevent climate and ecological disaster. We recognise that this will require big, bold changes in the way The Wildlife Trusts work, not least in how we mobilise others and support them to organise within their own communities.
What we are trying to achieve: The twin crises of nature and climate emergencies have forced the Wildlife Trusts to rethink their role. Collectively, we have set out the new and ambitious Strategy 2030. Goal 1 of that strategy is to get nature into recovery with the Wildlife Trusts providing the leadership required to achieve 30 by 30: 30% of seas and land in nature’s recovery by 2030.
Nature’s recovery rests on five critical interventions: (1) the development of a nature recovery network; (2) creating landscape recovery areas at a scale where natural processes can operate to drive up species abundance; (3) regenerative agriculture; (4) green infrastructure threading through our towns, cities and countryside and, (5) at sea, an effective network of highly protected marine areas.
We are entering a new era were Labour are now the government with a very clear majority and mandate for their 5 missions that they have clearly prioritised. We have already seen that the Labour government are going to make significant changes to the planning system and are establishing GB Energy. Now we have begun the formal process of exiting the European Union, we now have a clearer understanding of the process and of our capacity needs. Requirements for capacity in this area are twofold: in the short term, we need to ensure that our environmental legislation is not weakened through and that we maintain high environmental standards.
About You
We are looking for someone with the drive, and experience of high-level advocacy and facilitation skills to lead generating and implementing appropriate policies that will drive change. This is an exciting opportunity for an innovative, capable, and passionate leader who understands both nature and people. You will need to be able to inspire politicians, funders, the media, developers and communities
You will need to enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, be organised and resourceful, have excellent attention to written detail as well as confidence in public speaking. We need these skills to come through in your clear passion for our cause. You will be part of a tight and dedicated central policy team. You will need to have excellent collaboration and facilitation skills and always strive to ensure that everyone can come together effectively across the movement of The Wildlife Trusts to achieve our new and exciting vision
You will need knowledge of the workings of Westminster and experience of working in the third sector. We are interested in someone who is able to demonstrate experience of working with political adversaries and has no fear of engaging in robust discussions on the future of environmental law and a reverse in the destruction of our biodiversity
We are particularly interested in someone who has experience of working with the House of Commons and House of Lords, backbenchers, and the shadow front bench
The Wildlife Trusts value passion, respect, trust, integrity, pragmatic activism and strength in diversity. Whilst we are passionate in promoting our aims, we are not judgmental and are inclusive. We particularly encourage applications from people who are underrepresented within our sector, including people from minority backgrounds and people with disabilities. We are committed to creating a movement that recognises and truly values individual differences and identities

Working with communities across the UK experiencing economic injustice to reimagine, rebalance, and transform the economy.
The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
This is no ordinary fundraising job! We wanted to call this position ‘Head of Minor Gifts’, but we worried it wouldn't hit your radar during your job search.
At One World Together we're turning the tables on traditional systems of finance for global development to get more funds, on better terms, directly to communities in the UK and globally. We’ve designed a new, affordable and citizen-powered model of philanthropy that dreams of (and is realising!) a community-centred future driven by passionate and committed Global Citizens.
We are seeking an experienced, part-time Head of Individual Giving to help build our small but growing movement into a thriving community moving towards financial sustainability. Alongside building a successful movement for Global Citizenship, you will foster long-term supporters through deepening our Global Citizens’ and donor journeys. You will support our income-generation through organising fundraising events and activities, spotting potential philanthropic and business partnerships and helping to build our long-term strategies for achieving organisational sustainability.
The post is one year in the first instance, with the hope that a successful campaign will secure the position into the future.
Role Description:
We are excited to grow our Global Citizenship membership and Solidarity Funds through nation-wide community building – can you help us do this?
We are looking for someone who shares our values of trust, solidarity and equity, who is proactive and imaginative in their approach to fundraising. One who is passionate about a fairer system and who is ready to nurture a new community-centred movement founded on the power of microdonations at scale.
This role will be our first dedicated fundraising position at One World Together. As the Head of Individual Giving you will be responsible for:
- Designing a nation-wide community building stragegy to grow our Global Citizens membership and Solidarity Fund;
-
Deepening our Global Citizen donor journey and building long-term relationships with our members and other supporters;
-
Organising One World Together virtual, in-person and/or hybrid events;
-
Supporting the development of our ongoing ‘business for good’ campaign and working with the broader team to pursue other forms of fundraising as they arise;
-
Managing a community-building and fundraising budget.
We are a purpose- and values-driven organisation and are looking forward to meeting our perfect match in these areas. We want all interested candidates to know that we are not a target-driven organisation or one driven by the desire for endless growth. We have thoughtfully designed a model that ‘builds in’ financial sustainability and organisational stability, but recognise that we need to invest in a national community building initiative to reach those goals and our future community-centred impact potential.
The Values, Skills, and Experience We’re Looking For
-
2+ years experience in leading, designing and implementing local or national fundraising community building strategies and demonstrable understanding of their reach and/or impacts;
-
An understanding of and experience in developing long-term supporter commitment through regular giving and partnerships with donors;
-
A strong experience of managing fundraising campaigns through different social media platforms and digital marketing strategies;
-
An understanding of how to reach different segments of the population with fundraising messaging, including young people;
-
Experience with CRM software (we use Beacon) and Mailchimp for managing campaigns and donor communications;
-
Project-management experience, including planning and budget management;
-
A strong commitment to our values of trust, solidarity and equity – and an understanding of why these are so important in a fairer funding system;
-
Exhibits a motivation for innovation, action and a belief in a better world – and the role of collective action in achieving this;
-
Action-oriented, can thrive independently but also enjoys inspiring, coordinating and working with other team members;
-
Adaptable and willing to learn in a dynamic environment, as this is a new role in a young organisation that may require flexibility and creative problem-solving.
Desired skills and experience
We don’t expect you to have all the skills and experience on this list. Plus, we want you to learn new skills in this role. If you are on the fence, please err on the side of applying.
-
Relevant qualification in fundraising
-
Knowledge of global development and the funding challenges in the sector.
-
Experience with community engagement, fundraising, engaging with major donors, and grant writing.
-
Brilliant people skills honed through experience working in hospitality, retail, finance, HR, or logistics.
-
A willingness to travel, within and outside the UK. We are looking to grow our UK community of Global Citizens in the first instance, so we’d prefer you were UK-based.
Why we think this is an amazing role for YOU!
-
Unique opportunity to accelerate your career in a transformative fundraising role, observing your social impact day-to-day.
-
You’ll be joining a smart and dedicated team making progress on some of the most pressing funding questions worldwide in building global solidarity, strengthening community impacts and making positive change (see One World Together).
-
You’ll not only be part of a global innovation making positive social change happen, but you’ll also play a key role in our dream of creating a community-centred future and a new community of Global Citizens.
-
You’ll have the unique opportunity to help shape OWT’s fundraising strategy and practices from the ground up, allowing you to make significant impact and innovate in the field of community-driven philanthropy.
-
You’ll be part of a team rooted in values over growth, getting the organisational foundations right for an equitable future.
-
You’ll be a crucial part of building our community across a growing network of Global Citizens, supporters, and our incredible partners in Kenya, the UK and Zambia.
-
You’ll work for a team that lives its values! We take a trust-based approach to working arrangements, allowing you to set your own working hours and work remotely from your own location.
-
Generous training budget (£1,000) with flexibility to choose the right skills development for you in this role.
-
Be part of our internal growth plans and our future fundraising strategy development. As OWT expands there may be opportunities for professional growth and advancement within the organisation.
-
You’ll be part of deep-rooted social change that is already having huge impacts for our community partners - what’s not to like!?

OVERVIEW AND JOB PURPOSE
Pump Aid is a dynamic, award winning and growing organisation, which is promoting a radically different approach to aid and development in the WASH sector by establishing Malawi’s first social impact business (Beyond Water) focused on delivering reliable access to clean water for rural communities. We challenge conventional development programmes by taking a business-based approach that ensures long term sustainability and impact for the communities we work with. Clean water results in better health, increases educational attainment and reduces inequality for women and girls across Malawi.
To support our mission we are recruiting a Communications and Fundraising Officer to help deliver on our ambitious growth plans to reach 2 million people by 2030. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated person with strong communication and interpersonal skills, who can plan and create compelling communications to increase awareness of our work and engage new and existing supporters. Furthermore, you will lead on key areas of our fundraising strategy including annual fundraising campaigns, individual giving and small trusts and foundations.
Roles and Responsibilities
- You will lead on defined elements of Pump Aid’s fundraising strategy: scoping, applications, reporting and management (to largely small to medium sized trusts and foundations, community funders and individuals.)
- You will develop and manage a schedule of compelling communications across a number of channels including social media, web and print that will grow engagement with Beyond Water’s mission.
- You will support the Head of Development to pitch to social impact and philanthropic investors by finding creative ways to differentiate ourselves from traditional approaches to international development.
- You will take responsibility for managing and administrating fundraising income, using Salesforce CRM to keep up to date records of donations, keeping donors updated through regular reports and leveraging annual campaigns including the Big Give Christmas Campaign to maximise individual giving donations.
- Maximise the value and duration of donor support through excellent stewardship and relationship management.
- While office hours are notionally 9:00am to 5:30pm, the demands of a business focussed on Africa, with donors in the UK, USA, Europe and Asia mean a degree of flexibility is required.
Candidate Profile
1. Strong experience in planning and executing communications plans across a variety of mediums (social media, website, blog posts, impact reports) to grow awareness and engagement with the work of our social enterprise
2. Demonstrable success in fundraising within the charity sector; scoping, prospecting, proposal writing and reporting.
3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the confidence to present to a variety of audiences

7. High level of computer literacy – Canva, Microsoft Office, Salesforce or similar CRM software
