Job description

As our Head of Programmes you will manage our programmes from beginning to end - ie. from when a learner joins our Supported Internship Programme until they have been in employment for 6 months. 

This includes and is not limited to; managing our Programme Coordinators, managing relationships with our programme partners (Mencap, AOD), keeping the Fair Shot team as involved as possible, building a network of Fair Shot employers to take on our learners following their 11 month training programme, monetizing the programme, and supporting both the employer and ex learners for 6 months and offering. As a Head of department you will also be responsible for upholding our Fair Shot values,  ‘How we stand up for Fair Shot’ priorities, contributing to the growth, vision & strategy of FairShot.

Programmes

Support the team in improving logistics, operations, and collaboration with the café team. Ensure seamless integration of internal and external processes to optimize efficiency and effectiveness.

Employment Programme

Lead the strategic direction of the employment programme, securing 15+ employer partnerships annually. Monetise the programme, manage contracts and payments, and organise the annual Fair Shot employment network event. Build and maintain a database of employer partners, working with the Marketing Manager on newsletters and engagement. Support graduates and past employers while continuously improving programme growth and sustainability. Represent Fair Shot at career fairs, panels, and events, ensuring strong employer relationships. Maintain impact reports based on employer and graduate data.

Managing Supported Internship & Employment Programme Coordinators

Oversee and support team members in their roles. Conduct four performance reviews per year as per Fair Shot policy.

Managing Partnerships

Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead, implementing behavioural policies for learners and graduates. Manage partnerships with Mencap and AOD, ensuring smooth collaboration, resolving conflicts, and supporting skills coaches. Continuously improve the programme in alignment with Fair Shot’s mission and learner needs.

Mentorship Programme

Train and support mentors to ensure their success. Maintain strong mentor relationships and foster a sense of belonging within the Fair Shot community.

Impact

Lead impact measurement for the employment programme, engaging with learners, employers, parents, and the Fair Shot team. Align all impact assessments with Fair Shot’s Theory of Change model, conducting annual reviews and refining outcomes. Gather insights via surveys and create content for the Social Impact Report with Marketing support.

Programme Link with Fair Shot & Mencap

Bridge communication between the Fair Shot team and Mencap management. Ensure collaboration across departments, keeping all teams informed and involved. Establish feedback loops, communication structures, and regular updates to ensure alignment and programme visibility. Support the Marketing Manager in raising public awareness of Fair Shot’s initiatives.

Fair Shot Role Model & Ambassador

Uphold Fair Shot’s values and cultivate a positive organisational culture. Represent Fair Shot at panels, webinars, podcasts, and networking events to promote the mission and grow partnerships. Strengthen employer engagement and advocate for inclusive employment opportunities.
