In April 2022, Smart Works launched a Three-Year Plan that will see the charity double the number of women helped annually from 5,000 to 10,000 women a year. We are on track to achieve this by expanding the reach of our existing centres and opening new centres in areas of need including Bristol; set to open in early 2025.

About this role

Smart Works is looking to appoint a Corporate Partnerships Manager for 12 months, to start in November / December 2024. This is a maternity cover role for an established role within the Smart Works staff team. This role is key to Smart Works’ growth, through engaging new and growing existing partners to raise vital funds, awareness and pro bono in support of our mission

The Corporate Partnerships function has grown significantly in the last 3 years and this is an exciting time to join Smart Works and take ownership of a high profile and varied portfolio of partners, spanning commercial, strategic and charity of the year. As Corporate Partnerships Manager, you will;

• Be responsible for the management and delivery of some of Smart Works most visible and multi-faceted partnerships that support our vision of ensuring that any unemployed woman is able to transform her life through the positive power of employment. Your portfolio will include managing our longest-standing partner of 11 years Bobbi Brown, Google, Royal Sun Alliance and PayPal amongst others.  
• Work closely with the wider Partnerships team and our local Smart Works centres to secure and develop local partnerships (outside of London) and embed national partnerships across our 11 UK centres, maximising opportunities to benefit the whole of Smart Works Group.
• Help Smart Works reach its goal of raising over £5m per annum through cultivating and stewarding relationships, thinking creatively and strategically to grow and retain partnerships.

About the Role: The Institutional Funding Officer role is based in a sub team within the busy and vibrant UK Programmes Team. The role has a broad remit covering all aspects of institutional funding, including scoping and relationship development with institutional donors including governments, UN agencies, charity partners and INGO partnerships, coordinating and leading on proposal development, award negotiation, ensuring donor compliance and supporting quality reporting. The role is based in London, with strong working relationships with our delivery teams and partners in Lebanon, the West Bank and Gaza. This is a  hybrid role.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support the Head of Institutional Funding in the development and delivery of an institutional funding strategy.

• Identify, prospect and approach institutional donors to secure funds, maintain successful working relationships with a portfolio of institutional donors, utilise the client relationship management tool and knowledge management processes.

• Lead the development of high quality proposals, coordinate input from other teams, including proposal writing, budget planning and impact measurement.

• Support timely and quality delivery of institutional funding award compliance and reporting requirements.

Institutional donor portfolio and pipeline development

• Research, identify and engage with possible institutional donors including conducting new donor due diligence.

• Proactively develop and maintain an institutional funding pipeline that aligns with implementation location funding priorities.

• Monitor trends in institutional donor funding in the Middle East and MAP programme priority areas. • Manage institutional  funding annual forecast tracking.

• Develop donor engagement communication materials in coordination with Fundraising and Communication colleagues.

Business development

• Support teams in designing quality proposals, including theory of change, logical frameworks, narratives, and budgets, in collaboration with programmes, senior management, and finance.

• Identify funding and collaboration opportunities aligned with MAP’s programme plans.

• Conduct regular research and networking to track institutional donor opportunities.

• Manage relationships with institutional donors, keeping them informed of MAP’s programmes.

• Lead the review of award agreements and donor contract negotiations, ensuring due diligence is completed.

Grant management

• Provide compliance guidance on new agreements, including tools, training and ongoing advice on donor requirements.

• Support teams to ensure all grants meet contractual obligations throughout the project cycle.

• Ensure timely, relevant communication with institutional donors.

• Incorporate learnings into new proposals with input from MEAL and programme colleagues.

• Provide oversight and support to implementation teams to ensure MAP manages all IF grants in line with contractual obligations throughout the project cycle.

General Management

• Report against agreed KPIs, financial targets and annual objectives as part of regular one-to-one meetings with the Head of Institutional Funding.

• Regular coordination with Fundraising and ACT colleagues for efficient development of core donor engagement materials.

• Travel to implementation locations as needed for donor engagement, proposal design and delivery of internal capacity building.

Experience / Knowledge

• Experience of securing and supporting large grants from institutional donors including governments, charity partners and UN organisations.

• Experience of coordination of the development of quality proposals and significant proposal writing experience , including developing logframes and budgets.

About the Role

As the Head of Finance, you will oversee all financial operations, ensuring the smooth running of the finance function with support from two Finance Officers. West Cornwall Women's Aid provides vital support to women and children who have faced any form of domestic abuse and/or sexual violence, at any stage of their life. As the Head of Operations, you will have oversight and management responsibility for all operational aspects of service delivery. You will understand the needs of women who have experienced abuse and will ensure the services are delivered through a trauma-informed lens, including trauma stabilisation and support. Our Technical Knowledge team oversees Blue Ventures’ technical pillars (Secure Rights, Community-Based Fisheries Management, Food Security and Financial Inclusion) and supports the use of data for decision making, providing tools, training, and guidance to partners and Blue Ventures’ staff around the world. This team integrates expertise and deep practical experience with pragmatism and a desire to enable others to deliver lasting change, by distilling global best practices and knowledge into usable tools, appropriate training, and responsive guidance and support. The team is also responsible for delivering peer learning exchanges and knowledge sharing events both online and face to face across the organisation in addition to overseeing technical publications.

We are currently recruiting for an exceptional individual to be part of this global team, leading a critical pillar of the strategy on Food Security. This individual will oversee the Food Security function, including the development, refinement, and roll out of tools and training to support partners around the world as they establish initiatives targeting fish production, availability and affordability, to promote nutrition, food security and financial returns of fishers through assessments of the nutritional value of key fisheries, sustainable fisheries management, waste reduction initiatives, and interventions that increase the economic and nutritional value, as well as durability, of fish catch. The Global Head - Food Security will have a strong understanding and technical experience of food security and nutrition programmes in coastal fishing communities and initiatives to reduce losses in catch value (both nutritional and financial), with proven skills in coaching and team building skills and effective management capacity in leading a multi-disciplinary team and working cross-functionally.
