The Head of Fundraising will lead The Girls' Network income generation strategy to ensure they can continue empowering young women from the least advantaged backgrounds. This role will drive the development and stewardship of high-value partnerships, oversee strategic growth in fundraising, and contribute to the charity's long-term sustainability.
It would be brilliant to have someone join the charity who has experience working in a smaller organisation, who is prepared to get stuck into all tasks required to help steer and drive the ship, focusing on, and developing the gaps across fundraising, and ensure the team are well supported. There are two direct reports for this role, and ensuring they are supported is a heavy aspect of this six-month contract.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a fundraising strategy to define and meet annual income targets from various sources, identifying opportunities for growth
- Identify, steward and secure high value relationships with corporate partners, Trusts & Foundations and major donors to achieve and exceed own targets
- Develop and submit funding bids for high value Trusts & Foundations in support of operational plans and agreed budgets
- Identify and steward major donors to meet future targets
- Provide strategic leadership and direction to Fundraising, ensuring the strategy aligns with wider goals, delivering high-impact fundraising campaigns and driving long term sustainability.
- Take an active role in the Senior Leadership Team to ensure efficient management of the charity, developing annual operational plans and budgets, monitoring performance and risk against quarterly targets and attending quarterly Board meetings.
- Work closely with the Head of Programmes to identify and assess new partnership opportunities to develop the strategy and success of the charity.
- Work closely with Head of Finance & Operations on data migration to enable effective fundraising and ensure a high-quality supporter experience.
- Report quarterly to the CEO and Board of Trustees on Key Performance Indicators and Key Risk Indicators, including progress against income targets and value of pipeline, working with the Head of Finance and Operations to align management information
- Ensure the Fundraising team are well supported to perform their roles, meeting virtually and in person on regular basis, conducting one-to-ones, annual appraisals and personal development plans to support learning.
- Lead and support the Fundraising Manager and Partnerships Manager to achieve their targets from corporate partners and Trusts & Foundations, tracking performance through quarterly reports, including pipeline values
- Work closely with Communications Manager to ensure fundraising opportunities and campaigns are coordinated in a timely fashion to the correct audiences.

You will bring:
- Significant experience in senior fundraising and within the not-for-profit sector

About the Role

Strategy and Leadership
- Lead the delivery of our fundraising strategy in line with our current organisational strategy which runs from 2024-2029.
- Lead on the management of key information about Get Further’s fundraising activity and ensure it is stored appropriately, well organised and with high attention to detail. This will include supporting the transition of the fundraising function onto Salesforce.
- Prepare fundraising update reports for the Finance and Risk Committee and the Board of Trustees as required.

Fundraising and Stakeholder Engagement
- Lead the core fundraising activities, including line managing our Fundraising Officer. This includes developing an in-depth understanding of existing and potential supporters to provide tailored relationship management, including engagement opportunities, to meet significant targets over multiple years.
- Support the Fundraising Officer to identify new prospects, in particular, charitable trusts and foundations that have the potential to support Get Further for the first time. You will effectively qualify and engage with prospects to build a pipeline for the coming years, matching prospects with appropriate asks.
- Oversee and write compelling applications for funding that are tailored to each recipient and make a convincing case for how their support with help more young people achieve their gateway qualifications.
- Lead on ensuring all supporters and donors receive updates and reports within the required timeframes and that these are crafted with impact data and case studies to ensure maximum stakeholder engagement.
Team Management and Collaboration
- Provide effective line management of our Fundraising Officer to support their personal development and successful delivery of their role.
- Work closely with the COO to develop budgets to accompany applications and provide financial reports to funders and partners.
- Work closely with the Impact Team to develop efficient processes for impact reporting to funders.
- Support the COO to ensure that policies relating to fundraising are up to date and fit for purpose.

What you will be doing:

In Memory Giving is an important and sensitive area of hospice fundraising that generates on average £200k of income for Trinity each year. The promotion of our specialist fundraising products and events to the family and friends of deceased patients requires maturity and emotional intelligence. Our In Memory supporters are often loyal long-term supporters who engage with us across many income channels and can become ambassadors for the Hospice and hospice care in general.
In this role you will help families remember and celebrate their loved-ones whilst raising money for the next family that needs Trinity’s care. The In Memory Executive will steward relationships with bereaved family and friends through in-person meetings and written and digital correspondence. They will support them to raise money for the Hospice through their own events and activities that feed into Tribute Funds. The successful candidate will report to the Head of Fundraising and have support from other resources from within the Fundraising team as required. They will promote and manage our various In Memory products (funeral collections, memory tree, tribute funds, etc) whilst identifying opportunities to improve or introduce new products in collaboration with the Head of Fundraising.
The successful candidate will be passionate fundraising and particularly working closely with families who have experienced Trinity’s care to fundraise for future patients and their loved ones.

This is a part-time, 4 days a week role paying a salary of £60,425 FTE per annum (£48,340 pro rata). The postholder will be working in a hybrid model from their offices.
The post holder will be responsible for coordinating and managing all fundraising streams, with overall budget responsibility to enable income generation that adds value across the organisation in line with the organisation's vision and values. You will lead the team in developing and maintaining supporter journeys for the development of relationships and retention with individuals, corporate partners and some charitable trusts.
They are looking for someone with substantial experience of working in Fundraising with a proven track record of successful income generation through different streams from concept to completion. The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience of delivering Individual Giving activities and strategies, including High Net Worth engagement. You will be skilled in producing engaging and inspiring copy for a wide range of prospect and donor communications.

The Role
Staffordshire Wildlife Trust had an income of £4.7m in year ending March 2024, and this has grown again in the last 12 months. To push ahead with the Trust’s vital work to restore the natural environment across Staffordshire, and to meet the strategic goals by 2030, the Trust needs to increase its revenue substantially.
You’ll be leading a dedicated fundraising and communications team currently made up of 10 staff but set to grow. This position is a new one, and one of the key recommendations of a fundraising research assignment conducted at the end of 2024.
The Head of Fundraising and Development will report to the Chief Executive and be a member of the Senior Leadership Team.
Key tasks include:
• Develop and implement a five-year fundraising strategy
• Develop a fundraising culture across the Trust
• Co-develop bottom-up, evidence-led income forecasts with your team and relevant Senior Leadership Team members
• Take overall responsibility for all fundraising
• Oversee the exploration of new income generating opportunities
• Oversee the management of all fundraising systems/processes (fundraising database and financial information)
• Be responsible for all internal and external communications
• Embed a culture of high performance amongst the team.
About You
The Head of Fundraising and Development role is a unique opportunity for an ambitious and innovative fundraising professional to develop and deliver a comprehensive fundraising strategy. You will be an effective leader, comfortable delegating authority in areas where you have less expertise to the experts in your team.
An inspiring leader, you will have exceptional people management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels. You should be willing to work flexibly as your team requires it, this may involve working at events outside of normal hours to support your team.
You will have experience of:
• Growing voluntary income in charities across a range of channels
• Successful fundraising across grants (charitable trusts, the National Lottery and Landfill Communities Funding), companies, individual giving, major donors and legacies
• Managing membership schemes and an understanding of generating income from Trading activities would be an advantage
• Change management, and an understanding that sustainable change requires taking people with you, and that this requires consultation, patience, flexibility and adaptability
• Developing, implementing and evaluating strategy across a range of income streams will be business as usual for you.
Your experience should be heavily-weighted towards fundraising rather than communications, although an understanding of communications and how it supports fundraising, is essential.
