About specific entity

One of the members of the Coram group, Coram Children’s Legal Centre (CCLC) is a specialist centre for children’s rights in education, immigration, community care and family law, and provides significant international legal systems consultancy.  The centre is located on the Coram Campus in central London with a base in Colchester. We champion access to justice through information and advice, legal practice and representation, policy and strategic litigation.  Our Legal Practice Unit provides advice and representation under legal aid contract and through grant funding.  Our Policy and Practice Change Team promotes the rights of children, young people and families through training and capacity building to professionals and systems change through research, policy and advocacy.

CCLC’s Finance and Billing Team is based in our London and Colchester office. It is anticipated this role would be based in our London office working alongside the Finance and Operations Manager.

About the role

We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic, multi-skilled Finance and Billing Assistant to support our busy practice.

The primary purpose of the role is to provide financial and administrative assistance to the Finance and Operations team, particularly focussed on increasing our Legal Aid billing capacity.  This may involve assistance with broader financial and administrative tasks in order to release the overall capacity of the whole Finance Team to increase efficiency and maximise Legal Aid billing.  From time to time, the role may also be required to provide general administrative and reception assistance, particularly for annual leave cover.

The role would suit an organised and efficient individual with strong IT skills who is looking to develop a career working within the charity finance or business support sector.  This would be a particularly rewarding role for someone with an appreciation of the important role legal aid advice and representation plays in securing access to justice for the most vulnerable in society.  Previous experience working in an administrative, operations or finance role would be desirable.  However, full training will be provided and ongoing support and supervision will be available and therefore it is most important that the successful candidate can demonstrate the ability to work independently and show initiative and problem solving skills. 

This is an office-based role and as such the successful candidate will benefit from being part of an experienced team.  However, whilst this is a full-time position, we will consider requests for part-time working (28 hours per week minimum) and we will endeavour to offer some flexibility with days and hours to be agreed.

JOB PURPOSE 

We are seeking a dynamic, creative and experienced corporate partnerships new business expert to join our team.

This pivotal new role will be responsible for securing high-value, seven-figure (financial and non-financial) partnerships with corporate entities that protect and empower refugees globally.

The successful candidate will oversee the development and implementation of strategic partnership prospecting, manage relationships with key corporate prospects, and line manage a Senior Corporate Partnerships Officer.

This role is an 18-month fixed-term contract.

Role Responsibilities  

• Develop and deliver a new comprehensive business development strategy that will lead to seven-figure, sustainable corporate partnerships, delivering both unrestricted and restricted income.
• Coordinate market research to identify potential high value, strategic corporate partners that can deliver income, visibility and shared value for UK for UNHCR and UNHCR.
• Proactively approach prospects for partnership discussions. 
• Develop stewardship plans for top prospects, ensuring full use of senior leadership, technical colleagues and established private sector network.
• Develop unique combined financial and non-financial partnership propositions that lead to transformational partnerships.
• Lead the prospecting cycle: from first meeting, through to opportunity development, through to negotiation and contracting.
• Supervise and mentor a Senior Corporate Partnerships Officer.
• Work closely with internal teams, including Philanthropy and Communications, to align partnership efforts with organisational priorities.
• Remain flexible and quickly respond to emergency situations, identifying and responding to fundraising opportunities at pace.
• Represent UK for UNHCR at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to enhance visibility and build connections.

Responsibilities

• Financial Strategy, Planning and Analysis: Develop and maintain financial models, cash flow and forecasts to support strategic business planning and decision-making.
   
• Budget Management: Oversee and lead on the annual international budgeting and planning process (involving all ProVeg entities and departments). Administer and review all international financial plans and budgets; maintain all program budgets.
   
• Financial Reporting: Prepare and present monthly (P&L and balance sheets) management reports, quarterly variance reports, annual financial reports, donor-specific or grant reports, and other income generation reports to the Global CEO, and Senior Leadership Team.
   
• Audit and Compliance: Coordinate and manage financial audits, ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulatory requirements. 
   
• Financial Risk & Compliance Management: Seek out methods and practices to minimise financial risk, leverage financial opportunities, and ensure financial compliance with charity laws and other guidelines. Remain up-to-date on best practices in non-profit finance, and relevant laws regarding non-profit operation. 
   
• Finance Operations and governance: Oversee and improve internal financial policies and procedures such as implementation of central finance software, donations and grants tracking, ensuring value for money by applying internal auditing principles, and advising/supporting country directors and finance managers as well as organisations joining the ProVeg global network.

Qualifications

• Relevant accounting qualification preferred, though candidates qualified by experience will be considered. Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field desirable; graduate degree or CPA preferred.

• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a similar role, ideally in the non-profit sector. Experience of implementing and maintaining strong financial controls.

• Strong financial acumen and analytical skills, with a track record of strategic financial planning and analysis.

• Proficiency in financial modelling, forecasting, budgeting, and finance operations.

• Excellent data skills, including Google Workspace, with advanced proficiency in Google Sheets and QuickBooks, Xero, or other accounting software. Desirable: experience of implementing new accounting software.

• Calm and professional attitude, high level of integrity, accuracy, and a strong sense for due diligence.

• Experience consolidating multiple entities, ideally including different currencies.

Job Title: Finance Officer
Reporting to: HQ Finance Manager
Hours: 37.5 per week
Salary range: £32k to £35k

Strong finance functions underpin everything that we want to achieve as an organisation and this role is a vital part of this.

Role Purpose:

This role is a key member of the busy HQ finance function. The role is primarily focused on HQ finances and will also work with the colleagues across our global finance team. The role offers the chance to work across a number of finance functions, including: management accounting, supporting year end audit, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable and working on some of the subsidiary charities; and so it provides a great opportunity to experience the full breadth of finance work in a charity across all functions in a varied and interesting role.

It is essential that the applicant can juggle the complexities of a busy role with has varied work priorities. Key stakeholders are the HQ Finance Manager, Finance Director and the HQ based fundraising team. The role works alongside the Finance Assistant and plays a role in oversight and coaching of this role. Street Child is implementing a new CRM system and this role will feed into the development of new processes and procedures and use both the CRM and finance system and ensure full reconciliation and data trail between the two systems.

Key Responsibilities:

1) (40%) Deliver all functions related to Accounts Receivable and CRM:

• Ensure that all income from a variety of different sources is correctly and accurately recorded in the finance system and CRM (which is under development) on a weekly basis.
• Supporting with work on accounts receivable including accessing, downloading and saving in a systematic manner reports from donor portals, bank account and other sources.
• Working with colleagues in Fundraising to analyse and code income reports in Excel and uploading it to the Finance system on a timely basis, at least weekly. Following up on how to code any income which is not allocated to a source.
• Working closely with colleagues in Fundraising to ensure prompt collection of outstanding balances from customers, and sending out monthly debtor balance statements.
• Raising donor invoices and requests for payments, and issuing donor receipts.
• Income and customer account reconciliations and revaluations.
• Any other responsibilities relating to Accounts Receivable.

2) (40%) Month end reporting and reconciliation and subsidiary accounts:

• Complete all balance sheet reconciliations, including bank and petty cash reconciliations and submit for approval by HQ Finance Manager.
• Once CRM system is in place, undertake reconciliation processes between finance data and CRM data.
• Carry out monthly revaluations of bank accounts.
• Ensuring supporting information for transactions is correctly stored in electronic format on Teams such as bank statements, remittance advices, credit statements.
• Assist in preparation of internal reports, including working with Operations Department and Finance department to review their monthly reports.
• Take responsibility to deliver the management accounts of two subsidiary companies: Children in Crisis and HQ transactions of Africa Educational Trust.
• Compile information for Gift Aid returns.
• General support and assistance to the team including administrative duties and managing the office post.
• Other ad hoc support to the wider operations team as may be required.
• Audit: support with the year end audit and provision of supporting information to auditors.

3) (20%) Lead the Accounts Payable process:

• Whilst the Finance Assistant is responsible for all payments, the Finance Officer has a lead role in ensuring that all invoices are paid on time, in an efficient manner and that the finance system reflects the transactions within the correct accounting period and correctly coded in the system – including account code, cost centre, project code and donor code.
• Determine most efficient payment platform to process international payments, and ensure that recorded in the finance system at the correct conversion rate.
• Be a point of contact with the Foreign exchange agents to quickly resolve any questions.
• Work with the Finance Assistant to ensure accurate and timely recording of all approved supplier invoices, requisitions, staff expenses and other expenditure in the accounting system and that all supporting documentation for all transactions are uploaded.
• Ensuring that there are at least two payment runs a week and additional runs as required; overseeing the process to ensure that all invoices for payment are correctly approved by the budget holder, setting up payments on online banking platforms and sending out requests for payment approvals to payment authorisers and verifying that all payments are fully approved in the banking platforms by the deadline set. Providing cover to set up payments when the Finance Assistant is not available.
• Managing monthly staff credit card reconciliations and ensure that these are returned on time with all receipts and invoices and checking and reviewing classifications, with follow up as required.
• Carry out monthly Creditor account reconciliations ensuring that all balances are valid and backed up with appropriate supporting documentation.
• Fully deliver the set up all payroll payments in time for the monthly pay day. This involves ensuring correct amount and currency of payment (which may differ from the salary of the individual’s employment contract) and method of payment across all HQ staff.
• Any other responsibilities from time to time.

Following the successful application of a National Lottery award, we are seeking two dedicated and compassionate Peer Support Group Development Officers to set up and sustain local peer support groups for people living with and affected by prostate cancer. These roles focus on building on our established networks to expand peer support in defined areas, facilitating group formation, and enhancing service delivery through strategic outreach and resource development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Group formation and support: Oversee the setup and operation of 10-12 self-sustaining and independent peer support groups within your assigned region across the lifetime of the three-year project. • Volunteer Coordination: Recruit, train, and support volunteer Support Group Leaders. Assist in the co-production of training materials and resources, aimed at creating self-sustainable groups.
• Community Engagement: Conduct outreach to map existing support services and facilitate the integration of these services with the peer support groups. Host local engagement events to boost volunteer recruitment.
• Data and Case Management: Use a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to support high-quality volunteer and case management, ensuring accurate data collection to support service outcomes.
• Training and Development: Develop and deliver tailored training programmes for volunteers based on the specific needs of Group Leaders and Organisers. Set up regional forums for sharing best practices and peer networking. Encourage use of Members Portal to share good practice.
• Documentation and Compliance: Ensure compliance with Best Practice Guidance document. Ensure adherence to safeguarding policies to maintain safe governance of peer support groups.

C4WS Homeless Project provides support to those experiencing homelessness throughout the year via a well-established winter night shelter in Camden, a lunchtime club, Jobs Club, hosting scheme, mentoring scheme and various other activities. We are passionate about helping people rebuild their lives after homelessness and working towards living independently. 
 
Reporting to the Director, you will be responsible for coordinating the practical and day-to-day running of our shelters, which will involve: 

• Ensuring each shelter has enough trained volunteers to safely operate
• Ensuring each shelter has all the practical equipment and resources needed 
• Liaising with and supporting church volunteer teams 
• Being the main staff presence at shelter shifts 
• Responsible for managing our weekly Friday Club drop in 

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working with people who are experiencing homelessness or other similarly disadvantaged groups, an efficient and practical approach, warm and friendly nature, and a can-do attitude.
 
The successful applicant will be required to work flexibly whilst the shelter is operating. About the role

ABOUT THE ROLE

As Philanthropic Programs Director, you will lead and keep developing AIM's Impactful Grantmaking training program and oversee our five funding circles. Your primary responsibility will be outreach, program facilitation, and hands-on philanthropic advising for the twice-annual 9-week cohorts of funders giving over $1M annually.

This is a fairly senior position with high stakes, a lot of potential for development, and outstandingly high potential for impact, and thus best suited to an individual with at a minimum 3-5 years of experience and some deep prior expertise in the philanthropic sector.

You will work closely with the Philanthropic Programs Manager in a two-person program team. You will decide collaboratively at the start of your tenure how to divide and/or share responsibilities in the categories below, as well as how to take care of operations and ad hoc tasks and projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Facilitation (~40%)

• Deliver program content in an engaging and accessible manner

• Develop weekly lesson plans and discussion topics for a 9-week program Zoom calls

• Conduct thought-provoking and productive 1:1 coaching sessions with participants for 30 minutes weekly throughout the program.

• Prepare for and run the weekly group calls going through topics covered in our foundation handbook

Outreach and Public-Facing Work (~30%)

• Conduct regular calls with philanthropists, advisors, and other philanthropic professionals to maintain a strong presence in the sector

• Serve as the initial point of contact for new funders interested in or referred to the program, effectively communicating its value without being overly sales-oriented

• Scope and test the best ways to find new prospective participants who would benefit from our program and cause a large amount of impact

• Ensure each cohort has a minimum of 5 participants contributing an average of $1M+ each annually

• Maintain visibility of the program in philanthropic circles through activities such as article writing and regular engagement on philanthropy listservs

• Foster relationships with our community of 30+ alumni and extended network of funders

Grantmaking (~0-10%)

Program Operations Support (~10%)

APPLICATION PROCESS

Our application processes aim to be highly predictive, time-effective, and informative for you. Our process consists only of stages that our best evidence suggests are predictive of success on the job (such as test tasks) rather than more common but less predictive stages (such as cover letters). The Director has oversight of the organisations effective running, ensuring it continues to meet its aims and objectives.  This includes having oversight of all Canaan Project operations and activities, in conjunction with the Senior Young Women’s Worker and beingresponsible for the ongoing financial security of the project, fundraising, strategic planning and vision, development of all policies relating to the work including staff and volunteer management, safeguarding, and finance.
