The role of Communications Manager
As Communications Manager you’ll champion our charity’s work and brand. You’ll play a pivotal role in our charity, providing communications support across key areas of Guts UK’s work, including information, research and fundraising, as we deliver our new five-year strategy.
As part of our comms team of four, you'll work to champion our charity, raise vital awareness of our work, and manage our reputation. You’ll support the planning and delivery of education and awareness events and will work on projects linked to our information support service, research, patient engagement and involvement, and fundraising.
You’ll help us to grow and extend our reach, with demonstrable experience planning, creating and delivering high quality, engaging and informative communications, campaigns and content across channels including website, social media and print.
You’ll take the lead on media and PR activities for the charity, so significant experience working within an in-house press service is essential.
You’ll have strong leadership skills, be an excellent communicator, and will have a curiosity for keeping up to date with trends and sector developments.

We have offices in London and Huddersfield which are easily accessible by road or public transport. The Senior Research Manager will work closely with the Head of Research Funding, leading a team focussed on research culture and engagement, as well as managing our scientific portfolio. This role is vital in advancing ARUK's research objectives and promoting engagement within with ARUK-funded research community. They will be working collaboratively with the Research Team and with other teams, including the Events Team, Science Communications team and Philanthropy teams.
This role sits within the Research Funding team in the Research Directorate, an ambitious, supportive and friendly team that funds the best research to transform the lives of people affected by all forms of dementia. We’re looking for someone with strong research management experience who is excited by the opportunities in the dementia research landscape.
Main duties and responsibilities of the role:
Scientific programme management
· Build and maintain strong external relationships with a network of ARUK scientists, clinicians, and senior stakeholders across the UK.
· Monitor progress and outputs of ARUK funded projects, supporting our Science Communication team to share progress on our funded research
· Using knowledge of funded research, work with the Strategic Programmes team to help evaluate the impact of funding in addressing ARUK research priorities.
· Gain a thorough understanding of the dementia research landscape, working with the wider Research team to make recommendations to drive the development and delivery of ARUK’s research strategy
Research culture and Early Career Researcher strategy
· Working closely with the Senior Research Manager (Grants), Design and lead a strategic programme aimed at fostering a positive research culture and supporting the development of Early Career Researchers (ECRs) within the dementia research field, including: Developing and implementing an ECR strategy that provides resources, mentorship, and growth opportunities for emerging researchers in dementia. Identifying and championing initiatives that support diversity, equity, and inclusivity within the research community. Establishing frameworks and activities that promote collaboration, transparency, and ethical research conduct across ARUK-funded projects.
Research community engagement
· Develop an approach to grow engagement with researchers and strengthen connections with the wider research community
· Support the Research Engagement Manager and wider teams to deliver activities to promote awareness of the organisation, encourage collaboration, and produce impactful resources, to drive impactful scientific progress.
· Lead the advancement of ARUK’s research conference, ensuring the programme reflects the latest scientific advances and strategic priorities.
Management Responsibilities:
· Line management of a Research Officer and Research Engagement Manager, effectively delegating work to support delivery of their objectives
· Help to promote an inspiring team culture where personal development is prioritised
What we are looking for:
· Strong science background, educated to degree level in a relevant subject (preferably with a postgraduate qualification or equivalent work experience)
· Experience and/or in-depth knowledge of biomedical or life sciences research, preferably in a relevant or related area
· Experience of research grant funding/management
· Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills, with experience of building and managing relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, at all levels of seniority.
· Experience of developing and delivering strategies, ability to spot opportunities and thinking beyond the immediate issue to look at broader topics or themes.
· Proven ability of planning, managing and delivering projects; ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks, showing adaptability to meet challenging targets and deadlines.
· Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex information to diverse audiences
· A team player who can collaborate effectively with a range of stakeholders internally and externally to deliver
· Excellent eye for detail with a focus on continuous improvement
· Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritise competing demands

Additional Information:
Ways of working: As part of our Agile ways of working you will be required to work approximately 2 days a week from the office, which is subject to the requirements of the role and the business needs. Flexibility on where you work can be split between working from home and our office.
Roles that are classed as part of the Agile ways of working are not able to claim any costs for Mileage/Travel on Public Transport, Accommodation and/or Meals. This includes when attending the office for various meetings/events.

Job Description
This is a hugely exciting new opportunity to work for the Liberal Democrats following our historic General Election result last July.
As the largest third-party force in the Commons in a century, this new role will oversee Lib Dem Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD) funded programmes. You will manage a small team and work closely with the senior Lib Dem Parliamentary team, representatives from the wider party, and the WFD secretariat.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall planning and implementation of WFD funded projects, and ensure that they make a tangible difference. Previous WFP projects that we have supported include the African Liberal Network Women Leadership Programme, which has had a transformative impact for many women politicians in Africa.
The successful candidate will be a dynamic self-starter who’s got a good understanding of the Liberal Democrats and British politics, and will thrive in an environment where they have to demonstrate political judgement, solve problems, manage projects and budgets.
They will be able to work to tight timescales, take the initiative and be able to prioritise a demanding workload.
The successful candidate will feel comfortable occasionally representing the Party at an international level.
The role will primarily be based in London but will involve some international travel and it will be possible for some flexible and remote working.
Key Responsibilities

Managing the Liberal Democrat Westminster Foundation for Democracy funded programmes, and developing the strategy for our approach to WFD funding for the rest of the Parliament.

Communicating and liaising with the party leadership and spokespersons, Parliamentarians and the Federal International Relations Committee.

Managing budgets and projects and establishing deadlines to ensure programmes are managed effectively, including preparing annual budgets and monthly consolidated forecasts.

Working closely with WFD to ensure effective programme implementation and alignment with WFD’s programming methodologies as well as the agreed Results Framework with FCDO for areas of priority and impact.

Evaluating programmes and progressing quarterly and annual reporting.

Managing a small team providing the administration of these programmes.

Ensure the right resources are available to deliver programmes, and develop relationships with individuals, networks and institutions where Liberal Democrat WFD programmes operate as well as sister parties.

Establish and maintain key relationships with donors and sponsors including FCDO in the UK and posts overseas at the appropriate level.

Represent the Liberal Democrats in internal and external forums.

Work in partnership with other political party offices implementing WFD programming for shared learning and the design and implementation of an annual cross-party project.

The role:
This role will report to the Programme Manager and will manage all aspects of the grant making process, to include providing application advice, assessing grant applications and monitoring the delivery process whilst helping to build relationships with grant funded projects. This role will also undertake general administrative duties relating to the grants programme and maintain accurate records and contacts management information more broadly.
The person:
The successful candidate will be a proactive self-starter who has experience delivering community based projects and programmes within a funding, grant making and charity environment. They will have experience of grant making assessment and reporting processes and will have a good grasp of financial evaluation and budgeting. This person will also have experience of monitoring and evaluation. They will be a great team player and will have excellent communication skills to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders and partners in addition to bringing a working knowledge of Microsoft 365 packages.
This person will also have a “bigger picture” understanding of trusts and foundations and the needs of community based and led projects and local regeneration initiatives.

We are looking for a dynamic, cause-driven Trusts and Foundations fundraising leader to join us in the fight against bad information.
This role will lead our Trusts and Foundations programme, working from an existing £1m+ pipeline of major UK and international funders, as well as identifying and approaching potential new supporters. You will be creative and innovative in seeking out new opportunities, as we are looking to expand our fundraising into new areas of fact checking, such as climate misinformation and support for US fact-checkers. You will thrive on working with a range of colleagues and senior stakeholders to pull together information and develop compelling proposals for complex issues and projects.
Reporting into the Head of Development and line managing a Trusts Manager, you’ll be part of a successful and supportive team, with a commitment to recognising and developing people’s talent.
You will play a crucial role in holding our political leaders to account, countering the spread of dangerous misinformation online, and fuelling the development of AI tools for social good around the world.

We have an opportunity within our London, South East and East Region for a Funding Manager who is passionate about communities and the wider voluntary sector.

About the position
This position is ideal for an experienced grant writer who is interested in being a member of our growing and dynamic Development Team (4.5 FTE) that raises about £5 million annually to support the Resource Centre’s work with partners and allies across the world. You will work closely with an experienced team of fundraising and MEAL specialists, based on five continents, to ensure the highest quality products for our private and public funder audiences (foundations, multilateral and government agencies, and individuals in all regions.) Key Responsibilities
WRITING
- Build strong working relationships with teams across the organisation to gather information and collaboratively shape donor materials, including but not limited to: Executive Director’s updates, letters of inquiry, case for support, formal applications, funding reports, individual appeals, and Annual Impact Report.
- Develop, edit, and submit high-quality written and digital applications that clearly articulate BHRRC's mission, vision and impact (and/or that of BHRRC’s specific priority programmes) to foundations, and relevant government agencies, building a compelling case for funders to support BHRRC.

Our Helpline and expert advisers offer free, practical support to older people without enough money to live on. Through our grants programme, we support hundreds of local organisations working with older people across the UK.
We use the knowledge and insight gained from our support services and partnerships to highlight the issues experienced by older people in poverty and campaign for change.

Responsibilities and Person Specification:
With a passion for tackling poverty in later life, the Policy Manager will use the evidence and insight gained through our research, services, grants and campaign network to identify the problems that older people in poverty face and come up with innovate policy solutions to improve their lives.
They will then work with colleagues across the organisation, particularly Public Affairs, Campaigns and Media, to influence policymakers and make these policy calls a reality.

This is a full-time role, 35 hours per week, which you can choose to work over five days or a 9-day fortnight.

Purpose
We are looking for a Senior Programme Officer who will contribute to the effective design and delivery of CBM UK’s development and humanitarian programmes, excellent donor, country team and partners relationships, collecting and applying learning and evidence of impact, and effective collaboration with the fundraising, communications and advocacy functions of the organisation.
Key responsibilities
Within twelve months, the Senior Programme Officer will:
· Be managing a portfolio of projects effectively and efficiently;
· Be a confident user of CBM’s systems for project knowledge management, human resources and operations;
· Have developed strong working relationships with colleagues, partners and donors.
Oversee a portfolio of projects
· Work with the relevant Country Team(s) and partners to ensure delivery of quality projects, to budget, and within appropriate time periods
· Monitor progress on project activities and expenditure against budget, including monitoring visits to the projects (usually on an annual basis)
· Liaise with the donor, where applicable, ensuring that their requirements are met, and negotiating adjustments to grants when needed
· Lead on the production of donor reports, narrative and financial, as well as risk registers, results frameworks, MEAL plans and asset registers, as required
· Lead after action reviews on closing projects, and help ensure that lessons learned are disseminated and applied in future programming
· Collect evidence of impact of the projects
· Carry out due diligence on partner organisations
· Provide support to partners, including organisational strengthening, championing, facilitating links and spotting opportunities.
Support to the Programmes team
· Provide support to inclusion advisory projects on contracting, compliance and administrative tasks.
Cross-Team Collaboration
· Carry out joint actions with colleagues from the fundraising and communications team, including providing information and data from programmes, providing support for their visits to projects, and drafting articles and social media posts on the projects.
· Coordinate with the Supporter Care team, providing assistance in responding to enquiries from supporters and the public
· Joint actions with the Advocacy team, including writing up evidence from projects
· Provide support to the Programme Funding team on proposal development and associated activities, such as reviewing partner assessments and collecting information for compliance requirements
· Give support to Country Teams, as appropriate, including facilitating training, providing input to Country Strategic Plans, and attending Country Coordination Forums
· Participate in CBM Global secretariat activities, including representing CBM UK on working groups and focal point groups, participating in the regular organisation-wide webinars and sitting on recruitment panels when requested
· Represent CBM UK in sector-wide initiatives, such as BOND and the International Disability and Development Consortium.
Other
· Help develop a culture of enthusiasm and success, reflecting the ambitions of CBM UK.
· Play an active role across CBM UK, promoting positive working and innovation. Ensure that the values of CBM UK are understood by external partners and always reflected in communications
