Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management:
- Oversee all aspects of financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting, ensuring alignment with the foundation’s strategic goals across UK and Brazil
- Manage and monitor cash flow, forecasts by restricted causes , and the overall financial performance.
- Prepare accurate financial reports for the COO, Founders or and Board of Trustees, including monthly management accounts, impact reports and reporting against the agreed KPIs
- Lead on the preparation of the annual budget, consolidating the UK and Brazil budget, and provide financial analysis to support decision-making across the organization.
Ensure compliance with all tax, financial, and regulatory requirements relevant to a charitable organization.
Compliance and Governance:
- Ensure the foundation complies with all legal, regulatory, and ethical standards, particularly in the charity and non-profit sector.
- Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures to manage risk and ensure strong governance across UK and Brazil
- Manage relationships with external auditors, ensuring timely submission of audited accounts and submissions to charities commission
- Monitor changes in relevant legislation and the charity sector, advising senior management on compliance and regulatory matters.
- Act as the main point of contact for legal matters and ensure that contracts and agreements are legally sound.
Risk Management:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive risk management framework to identify and mitigate financial, operational, and reputational risks.
- Conduct regular audits of internal systems and processes to identify areas of improvement.
- Implement safeguards to protect the foundation’s assets and reputation.
Team Leadership and Collaboration:
- Lead and mentor the finance analyst, promoting a culture of transparency, integrity, and excellence.
- Collaborate with the program teams to ensure financial goals and project goals are aligned.
- Support the fundraising team in grant applications, ensuring financial compliance and reporting for all grants and donations.
Key Requirements:
- ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or other relevant professional qualification.
- A minimum of 5-7 years of senior financial management experience, preferably in the charity, non-profit, or social enterprise sector.
- Strong understanding of financial management, charity governance, and compliance requirements.
- Experience in managing external audits and working with auditors, legal professionals, and regulatory bodies.
- Excellent knowledge of charity tax laws, financial regulations, and best practices.
- Demonstrated experience in risk management and developing compliance frameworks.
- Outstanding leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate financial information to non-finance senior stakeholders and Founders clearly.

Role description:
We are seeking a skilled individual to join our Fundraising Team as a Trusts and Foundations Officer. You will play a pivotal role in maximising income from grant-giving organisations.
You will work strategically and have responsibility for identifying and approaching trusts and foundations, building a high-quality pipeline to meet fundraising targets and provide excellent stewardship. You will collaborate with teams across the charity and University Hospital Southampton to develop compelling proposals and produce high quality reports.
Main Responsibilities:

Manage a prospect pool of trusts and foundations with the aim to secure mid and high value gifts and submit a minimum of 8 applications a month.

Proactively identify funding opportunities, identifying new prospects from our database, networks and to build a robust Trusts pipeline.

We are seeking a Trusts and Foundations Fundraiser to join our passionate and dedicated fundraising team. Hours of work: This role is 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday with the very occasional evening or weekend for Events.

Donor Management (~40%)
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with a portfolio of individual donors, corporate and institutional foundations to secure philanthropic and private funding and advance Travalyst’s mission.
- Identify, solicit, and nurture new donor prospects, ensuring continuous growth of the donor base.
- Strategise with senior leadership to retain and upgrade current donors, including personalised engagement for high-value supporters.
- Support high-value donor and corporate partner meetings, preparing personalised correspondence, proposals and briefs.
Fundraising Strategy, Campaigns, and Event Management (~30%)
- Collaborate with the Partnerships and Development team to plan, execute, and manage proposal development and annual appeal processes for fundraising campaigns, including donor and partner events, direct mail, and corporate initiatives.
- Conduct prospect research for individual donors, foundations, and international government funding sources.
- Oversee the project management and execution of partnership and donor events, ensuring seamless planning, logistics coordination, and delivery to meet revenue and engagement goals.
- Track and report progress on fundraising campaigns and events, providing analysis on key performance indicators and revenue projections.
- Work with the communications team to create compelling materials for donor outreach, event promotion, presentations, and corporate engagement.
- Secure grant funding through research, proposal development, and managing the grant application process.
Donation Administration and CRM Management (~20%)
- Manage the CRM system, ensuring donor and partner data is accurate, up-to-date, and effectively utilised for engagement and reporting.
- Partner with the Operations team to ensure all donations, invoices and tracking is completed in a timely manner with follow up to donors as required.
- Oversee donor reporting, generating data insights and analytics to inform future strategies and donor retention efforts.
- Manage reconciliation processes and ensure development data and financial data are in alignment.
- Collaborate with the team on CRM system training and improvements and support data migration if necessary.
General Administration and Team Support (~10%)
- Provide administrative support to the Partnerships and Development team, including scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and preparing materials for donor presentations.
- Assist with special projects and additional fundraising and partnership tasks as needed.

What skills we’re looking for:

The Thomson Reuters Foundation (TRF) is the corporate foundation of Thomson Reuters, the global news and information services company. As an independent charity we work to advance media freedom, foster more inclusive economies, and promote human rights. We combine our unique media development and legal services to drive systemic change through news, capacity strengthening, free legal assistance, and convening initiatives.
TRF provides a Secretariat function to the Media Freedom Coalition (MFC). The MFC is a partnership of 51 countries from six continents working together to advocate for media freedom and the safety of journalists at home and abroad. The MFC works closely with civil society and a panel of legal experts, among others, to promote media freedom through a range of activities – including public and private diplomacy to support journalists at risk, coordinated action through embassies, events and the promotion of legal reforms. The MFC was established in 2019 while the Secretariat was established in 2022. More information about the MFC can be found here.
The MFC Secretariat plays a central role in maximising the impact of the Coalition. It does this in four areas:

Administration and operations: engaging with and supporting members of the Coalition; delivering activities including events and briefings; coordinating responses to cases of concern (in which journalists and news organisations are facing threats to their reporting); supporting embassies to act on media freedom; organizing meetings and maintaining the MFC’s network of contacts;

Communications: communicating the MFC’s activities and impact externally, via website, social media and mainstream media coverage; supporting public-facing events; keeping the MFC’s network informed about activities and opportunities to take action;

Policies and strategy: ensuring policies and processes are in place to facilitate an efficient, effective and responsive coalition; supporting strategic decision making; monitoring the latest developments in the media freedom context;

The Secretariat is supported by grants from Global Affairs Canada, the UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office, and Germany’s Federal Foreign Office.
We are seeking an organized and resourceful Project Manager to join our team. The Project Manager will lead on two key areas of the Secretariat’s work: (1) supporting and facilitating the MFC’s work on cases of concern, in which journalists and media workers are under threat, and (2) promoting greater engagement with diverse member countries of the MFC.
As part of the role you will interact with a wide range of government officials, civil society experts and legal experts from different parts of the world and establish improved processes for MFC interventions and engagement. The ideal candidate will be able to take the initiative while working collaboratively and will have excellent problem-solving skills. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone looking to deepen their engagement in the media freedom, human rights and/or democracy fields through working with leading experts and cutting-edge issues.
The role is based in Canary Wharf in London. The role is full time and you would be expected to attend TRF’s offices two or more days per week.
This is a 12-month fixed-term contract (depending on availability). The contract may be extended beyond this, conditional on further funds being secured for the Secretariat’s continued operation.We expect the 12-month term of the contract will result in tangible and meaningful outcomes, such as improvements to processes and strategy, and more engaged member countries.

About The Role
As the Project Manager you will:

Oversee and manage the MFC’s Secretariat’s work on cases of concern, looking for ways to optimize the speed, relevance and impact of MFC interventions while ensuring that they do no harm

Improve processes on cases of concern in collaboration with government and civil society colleagues

Build relationships with a range of MFC member countries in multiple regions, explore their needs, and develop and deliver bespoke support packages as applicable

About the position
This is an exciting and demanding role for an outstanding individual as the Freedom Fund seeks to deliver on its ambitious new strategic plan. Reporting to the CEO and working as part of the Freedom Fund’s Senior Leadership Team (SLT), the successful candidate will play a lead role in ensuring the organisation meets its strategic fundraising target by 2030. As a collaborative fund, fundraising and building long-term strategic partnerships is central to the mission of the Freedom Fund. The post holder will represent the Freedom Fund globally and lead the Freedom Fund’s engagement with private and government donors. They will also engage with anti-slavery organisations, corporates, policymakers and other relevant actors.
The Managing Director, External Relations will lead high performing Strategic Partnerships and Communications teams across the London and New York offices to advance the Freedom Fund’s global fundraising strategy, targeting governments, foundations, multilaterals, ultra-high net worth individuals, corporates and academic institutions internationally. The successful candidate will be responsible for initiating and stewarding high value relationships across sectors and geographies, and of leading a professional fundraising, grant management, events and communications operation.
The Managing Director, External Relations will be a global influencer and thought leader, championing and shaping agendas surrounding modern day slavery, and in particular the importance of working closely with frontline partners and survivor leaders. The Managing Director will be expected to speak and publish widely, champion and share best practices, and pursue innovative opportunities and connections for the CEO, and other key spokespeople.
Responsibilities
Fundraising and Communications
• Build on the Freedom Fund’s strong fundraising performance to date, take the lead on achieving the organisation’s new strategic fundraising target by 2030 as well as working with the SLT.
• Collaborate across the organisation to ensure development strategy and tactics are aligned with organisational priorities and funding needs.
• Ensure that comprehensive donor mapping and engagement strategies are in place across all sectors (ultra-high net worth individuals, trusts and foundations, governments, etc) and geographies, working together with the Head of Strategic Partnerships.
• Support and 'deploy' the CEO and other colleagues to engage with and ensure coherent messaging with donors on all levels and across all areas of interaction.
• Maintain an overview of the entire funding pipeline for all donors, including cultivation, proposals/bids, fund and grant management and donor servicing/reporting and compliance.
• Review financial and organisational management processes and policies - in close collaboration with the other SLT members - with a view to ensuring their compatibility with donor requirements, proposing reforms as needed.
