Your skills

AIMS / PURPOSE OF THE POST
To ensure that services are delivered in accordance with appropriate clinical standards and protocols such as The Survivors Trust, BACP and any specific requirements from the Management Committee, funders and commissioners.
To manage the helpline service by ensuring that the helpline volunteers provide consistent support and an effective service on the helpline. MAIN DUTIES
The Services Coordinator is responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:
• To coordinate the effective delivery of Trust House’s clinical services;
• To produce and keep up to date all resources and best practice policies and procedures;
• To develop and implement The Survivors Trust service standards and procedures and to support all staff and volunteers to work in accordance with these standards as well as the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy Ethical Framework;
• To ensure the availability and performance of the required hardware, software, and other tools to support the organisation’s IT requirements;
• To establish and manage effective internal communication processes and on-going feedback opportunities to provide a supportive and responsive infrastructure;

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with clients
- Ensure that clients receive a prompt and professional service.

- Receive and respond to referrals from identified agencies in accordance with prevailing guidelines/funding.

- Keep the client at the centre of every case; check the client’s understanding and communication needs, agree on an action plan with clarity on who is doing what, encourage the client to be involved with actions as appropriate, keep the client informed of progress of case, and ensure cases are concluded in a positive way.
- Communicate and negotiate on clients’ behalf with third parties as appropriate.
- Give support in the sustainment of any tenancy, as appropriate.
- Ensure clients understand the terms of any tenancy or other legal obligation entered, or about to be entered into.

Operations and Strategy

We are looking for a dedicated and conscientious individual with experience of giving advice to people in vulnerable circumstances and who can relate to others in a sympathetic and understanding way. Experience of giving energy related advice is not essential as you will be provided with extensive training as well as mentoring support from an experienced colleague.
Pay and conditions
- The role is full-time (37.5 hours per week).
- The salary for the role will be £27,121 rising to £29,803 after six months.
- You will be entitled to 25 days paid holiday (plus statutory holidays).

Specific responsibilities
An applicant appointed to the role will be expected to:
- Engage with disadvantaged households who need help with energy issues.
- Improve the understanding and confidence of households in fuel poverty to better manage their energy use.
- Reduce the financial hardship and stress of households in fuel poverty by supporting their access to lower tariffs (where possible), grants for heating and insulation improvements and income maximisation.
- Improve the wellbeing and safeguarding of households in fuel poverty whose health conditions are exacerbated by living in a cold home.
- Identify energy improvements that can be made to the home and refer to installers who can fit them.
- Refer households onto other organisations in the area as appropriate for further support.
- Advocate on behalf of householders when communicating with energy suppliers, including making formal complaints on behalf of clients where necessary.
- Manage several complex casework cases over a period of time with minimal support.
- Maintain appropriate client confidentiality at all times in accordance with relevant policies and procedures.
- Carry out outreach activities and/or explore networking opportunities if demand for the service is too low.

Essential attributes for this role include:
- Minimum Maths and English GCSE or equivalent.

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement financial strategies, and lead the development of financial projections and scenario planning to inform decision making.
- Lead the finance function, overseeing the day-to-day operations (cash, accounts payable, accounts receivables and payroll) and ensure compliance with accounting and financial reporting standards, as well as legal and regulatory requirements for Kenya and the USA
- Evaluate and implement financial systems and processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and transparency
- Oversee the preparation of budgets, financial statements, and other financial reports
- Develop and manage the organization's risk management
- Lead, develop, and mentor a team of young professionals
Requirements
- Qualified accountant with at least 5 years of relevant experience, and willing to be hands on.
- Strong technical accounting experience covering financial accounting, management accounting, budget creation and monitoring, financial analysis, and reporting, preferably within a not for profit.
- Experience of working in a start-up or of establishing a finance function is strongly desirable.
- Experience of leading a finance function, including providing financial analysis & insight and strategic advice to aid decision making.
- Experience of grants management, compliance and reporting
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to work with both finance and non-finance staff.
- Strong strategic and problem solving skills.
This is a remote role, although they would be open to someone working from their office.
