AIMS / PURPOSE OF THE POST

Produce written progress reports to funders evidencing best practice and using collated data on project progress and outcomes.

To represent the charity with internal and external stakeholders, develop effective working partnerships with statutory, voluntary and other organisations and to undertake external presentations and awareness raising as required.

MAIN DUTIES

The Services Coordinator is responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:

• To coordinate the effective delivery of Trust House’s clinical services;

• To produce and keep up to date all resources and best practice policies and procedures;

• To develop and implement The Survivors Trust service standards and procedures and to support all staff and volunteers to work in accordance with these standards as well as the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy Ethical Framework;

• To ensure the availability and performance of the required hardware, software, and other tools to support the organisation’s IT requirements;

• To establish and manage effective internal communication processes and on-going feedback opportunities to provide a supportive and responsive infrastructure;

• To line manage and support staff members and student interns;

• To identify and organise the provision of external training and personal development opportunities for staff and volunteers;

• To facilitate the recruitment, induction and training of staff members;

• To represent Trust House as appropriate: in meetings with stakeholder agencies; and as required deliver presentations and support awareness raising activities;

Helpline management -

• To manage and ensure the provision of an effective, efficient and professional helpline for service users;

• To ensure quality assurance for the data entry and case recording of helpline calls on the Lamplight database;

• To track and monitor service metrics to identify areas for improvement;

As a Money Advice Caseworker, you will be responsible for delivering high quality support services to clients across Devon, by telephone and face-to face, to sustain tenancies and prevent eviction wherever possible, with due regard to Homemaker’s policies and procedures.

You will have experience providing money advice to individuals at risk of homelessness and contemporary knowledge of debt solutions and welfare benefits.

Important qualities include strong communication skills, the ability to work independently and empower others, and the capacity to simplify complex information for clients. While most appointments will be conducted over the phone, some clients will require in-home visits, so the job demands flexibility to travel and work from different locations, necessitating the use of a personal vehicle

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 Work with clients

• Ensure that clients receive a prompt and professional service.
• Provide advice and assistance through a range of channels: face-to-face, by phone, or by email. Seeing clients in office and at outreach locations and visiting clients in their own homes as required.
• Receive and respond to referrals from identified agencies in accordance with prevailing guidelines/funding.
• Provide support to clients including preparing accurate financial statements, budgeting advice, progression of debt options, advising on court proceedings for debt recovery and repossessions, and income maximisation to ensure take up of benefits and options such as backdating, overpayment and sanction challenges, appeals and representation if required.
• Keep the client at the centre of every case; check the client’s understanding and communication needs, agree on an action plan with clarity on who is doing what, encourage the client to be involved with actions as appropriate, keep the client informed of progress of case, and ensure cases are concluded in a positive way.
• Communicate and negotiate on clients’ behalf with third parties as appropriate.
• Give support in the sustainment of any tenancy, as appropriate.
• Ensure clients understand the terms of any tenancy or other legal obligation entered, or about to be entered into.
• Take a holistic approach to issues presented and signpost/refer to other services to help ensure that the advice and other support needs of the client are addressed appropriately.

Areas of responsibility: 

Governance, Legal & Risk

· Be accountable for governance structures and processes, including reviewing and revising governance documentation annually

Specific responsibilities

An applicant appointed to the role will be expected to:

• Engage with disadvantaged households who need help with energy issues.
• Improve the understanding and confidence of households in fuel poverty to better manage their energy use.
• Reduce the financial hardship and stress of households in fuel poverty by supporting their access to lower tariffs (where possible), grants for heating and insulation improvements and income maximisation.
•  Improve the wellbeing and safeguarding of households in fuel poverty whose health conditions are exacerbated by living in a cold home.
• Identify energy improvements that can be made to the home and refer to installers who can fit them.
• Refer households onto other organisations in the area as appropriate for further support.
• Advocate on behalf of householders when communicating with energy suppliers, including making formal complaints on behalf of clients where necessary.
• Manage several complex casework cases over a period of time with minimal support.
• Maintain appropriate client confidentiality at all times in accordance with relevant policies and procedures.
• Carry out outreach activities and/or explore networking opportunities if demand for the service is too low.

Our partner is a nonprofit organization providing accessible & effective mental health interventions for youths. They are seeking a part-time CFO to add expertise and oversight of their finance function to ensure financial sustainability. This role is a really interesting opportunity for an experienced finance professional to shape the finance function of a young, but growing organisation.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement financial strategies, and lead the development of financial projections and scenario planning to inform decision making.
• Lead the finance function, overseeing the day-to-day operations (cash, accounts payable, accounts receivables and payroll) and ensure compliance with accounting and financial reporting standards, as well as legal and regulatory requirements for Kenya and the USA
• Evaluate and implement financial systems and processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and transparency
• Oversee the preparation of budgets, financial statements, and other financial reports
• Develop and manage the organization's risk management
• Lead, develop, and mentor a team of young professionals 

Requirements

• Qualified accountant with at least 5 years of relevant experience, and willing to be hands on.
• Strong technical accounting experience covering financial accounting, management accounting, budget creation and monitoring, financial analysis, and reporting, preferably within a not for profit.
• Experience of working in a start-up or of establishing a finance function is strongly desirable.
• Experience of leading a finance function, including providing financial analysis & insight  and strategic advice to aid decision making.
• Experience of grants management, compliance and reporting
• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to work with both finance and non-finance staff.
• Strong strategic and problem solving skills. 

This is a remote role, although they would be open to someone working from their office.

They anticipate the role will require 2 days/week, perhaps with more time required initially to set up the finance function and then at important times in the year, including year-end.

Working alongside the Head of Relationship Fundraising, the High Value Lead and the Community & Events Fundraising Manager, you will form part of a core team that is on a mission to take RSBC’s relationship fundraising to the next level. You will support on testing new approaches for new business and creating plans and reports for successful relationship management.

The salary for this full-time role is £40k per annum. You will be hybrid working from their London offices approximately 3 days a week.
