Our Communications Manager is taking maternity leave from mid-June and we are looking for someone to cover the role for approx 9 months. We are a small team and this is the only communications role, therefore the Communications Manager has a lot to do, including:
- Running our whole comms operation – social media, website, event marketing, PR.
- Developing and delivering our communications strategy
- Creating stories and content for different channels
- Working on communications projects with people with lived experience
- Working with our individual giving lead on fundraising campaigns

- Experience of implementing and developing communications strategy

Lived experience and professional experience
Professional experience and lived experience are both valuable for this role. We want to bring people with personal experience of immigration detention, or the asylum process, or immigration enforcement into our team, so if you have this kind of experience then we would really love to hear from you. We need you to bring the ‘must have’ qualities listed above, but do not require a conventional professional CV full of paid communications and marketing roles. What we do need is someone who can help us deliver. That means understanding the people we work with, and knowing how to deliver organisational communications that meet their needs.
If you have lots of professional experience, together with strong understanding of our kind of work and the needs we address, but not the personal experience specified above, then we would also love to hear from you. Terms & conditions
- Contract: Temporary (9-month) contract, subject to a 3-month probationary period
- Location: The team meets at its office in central London on Wednesdays and works in a hybrid way the rest of the week.
- Hours: Part-time position, 2.5 days (18.75 hours) per week (0.5 FTE)
- Salary: £40,000 per year pro rata (ie £20,000), gross
- Annual leave: 36 days paid holiday leave per year pro rata (ie 18 days), including statutory bank holidays
- Sick pay: 25 days per year pro rata (ie 12.5 days) on full pay, followed by 25 days pro rata (ie 12.5 days) on half pay, followed by Statutory Sick Pay only

About the team
This is an important role based in a busy Operations team which covers office management, information technology, finance and human resources. The team play a key role in supporting the organisation to achieve its mission of supporting young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to succeed.
The Operations team comprises the Director of Finance and Operations, HR and Learning Manager, Head of Finance, HR Officer, Finance and Operations Assistant and a part time Administrator. Payroll and IT support are outsourced.
About this role
We are looking for a talented professional with a strong understanding of CRM and digital systems and a passion for maximising the value of data, who is looking to join an organisation where they can put their skills to use across all aspects of our operations. You will join at a key time to develop and embed our work in this area, providing critical support to all our teams as well as maintaining and developing our cross-organisation systems.
You will lead on the development, administration, and staff engagement with, and training on, our Salesforce CRM system. This will include data from, and working with, all departments of Impetus, including our donors and prospects, our collaboration with partner charities, and our communications with email audiences. You will also manage the relationship with our existing Salesforce partner agency, drawing on them for additional support resource and coordinating broader development projects. The successful candidate will have experience developing and drawing value from Salesforce, including both technical development and collaborating closely with teams to drive engagement and best practice.
You will be responsible for our other cross-organisational digital systems, including our office and file storage platforms, data warehouse, visualisation, and ETL tools, website analytics, and Digital Asset Management system, as well as providing support for our Finance and HR systems, including providing training to staff and answering any questions related to these systems. You will collaborate closely with our Communications team, for example around website and social media analytics and reviewing the progress of the social media strategy. From time to time you may also be asked to provide support or advice to our portfolio charities. The role will also be responsible for helping to drive adoption of GenAI across Impetus.
As the sole technical and digital specialist role at Impetus, this position requires a collaborative individual who can work across diverse teams while also operating independently with a high level of autonomy. You will take ownership of CRM and systems for a dynamic, inquisitive, and growing organisation, helping to drive its growth and impact.
Key responsibilities
CRM:
- Own the development and administration of our Salesforce system.
- Work with all teams at Impetus to maximise their engagement with Salesforce and provide relevant training.
- Manage the relationship with our Salesforce support partner to leverage additional administration, and development project, resource.
- Ensure data quality and integrity within Salesforce.
- Gather information and data to identify business requirements and processes for adding to, or further developing on, Salesforce.
- Evaluate technical solutions in terms of meeting business requirements.
- Develop reporting within Salesforce.
- Answer staff queries and ad hoc requests.
Systems Management:
- Administer, maintain, and develop core organisational systems, including our office and file storage platforms, data visualisation and ETL tools, website analytics, Digital Asset Management system, and Finance and HR systems.
- Ensure effective knowledge management across our internal systems.
- Provide support to staff on these systems, including training, and answering any queries and ad hoc requests.
- Lead the development of the visualisation of core organisational and team data, as well as managing the underlying data.
- Maintain and develop our data warehouse.
- Collaborate with our outsourced IT partner to ensure the availability, resilient operation, and development of our systems.
- Aid the development of a culture of data literacy and data-driven decision-making across Impetus.
Person specification
Essential:
- Advanced knowledge of, and significant experience with, Salesforce development in a professional context.
- Experience around ensuring compliance with GDPR and cybersecurity frameworks e.g. CyberEssentials.
- Significant experience of collaborating closely with varied non-technical stakeholders to determine requirements, evaluate solutions, and plan development.

About the Role:
As the Educational Partnerships Manager, you will play a vital role in connecting with schools, colleges, and youth clubs across North East London, with a particular focus on those based in the most disadvantaged communities. This means you'll be working with schools that serve young people from areas with the greatest barriers to social mobility. Your mission will be to ensure these young people have access to life-changing opportunities, enabling them to develop vital skills, build an enterprising mindset, and prepare for a successful future.
You’ll be a key member of YE’s Educational Partnerships Regional Team, collaborating closely with the Educational Partnerships Regional Manager to drive the success of our enterprise and financial education programmes. This is a dynamic and rewarding role where no two days are the same. You will engage directly with young people and teachers in schools, delivering and supporting YE’s programmes, while developing new relationships and strengthening existing partnerships.

About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to join Dementia UK’s IT team as our IT Vendor and Service Integration Manager. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the end-to-end vendor management process, ensuring seamless integration of external services with our internal IT operations.
Acting as the primary liaison between outsourced service providers and internal IT teams, you will ensure alignment with organisational objectives, maintain service quality, and optimise the value derived from vendor relationships. You will also be responsible for ensuring that contract obligations are consistently met.
You will coordinate across IT Operations, IT Applications/Data, and directorate technology-dependent teams to resolve issues that span multiple domains, ensuring the smooth integration of services between internal and external providers. A key aspect of the role will involve monitoring and reporting on vendor performance against SLAs and KPIs, providing regular comprehensive updates to the Deputy Director of IT. In addition, you will oversee contract management for all outsourced IT services, negotiating amendments and renewals to secure the best value for the organisation.

About You:
You will have strong expertise in Microsoft Dynamics 365 and experience working with cross-functional teams to implement and optimise CRM systems using product-based methodologies. You should also have:
- Extensive experience as a Product Owner or similar role, with a focus on Microsoft Dynamics 365.
- A proven track record of leading CRM development and integrations, including data migrations and APIs.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage and influence teams at all levels.
- A deep understanding of CRM best practices, user experience design, and data management.
- Experience working in agile environments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- The ability to lead discussions, bring teams together, and drive progress.
- It would be advantageous to have knowledge of the charity sector and experience supporting donor engagement and service delivery.

About Ataxia UK
Ataxia is the umbrella term for a group of neurological conditions and Ataxia UK is the UK’s leading ataxia support and research charity. Ataxia UK collaborates with the global ataxia community through our Research team, and we are on the board of the international non-profit association, Euro-ataxia. Our Services team focuses on helping everyone affected by ataxia in the UK to live their best life. We have a Helpline and Advocacy service providing information, advice, and 1-2-1 support to help people access their rights; whilst the Community Engagement service provides activities, engagement and volunteering opportunities to bring the ataxia community together and reduce feelings of isolation.
About the Role
You will be joining at an exciting time for Ataxia UK as we enter our 60th anniversary year.
Responsible for the communications officer as well as a range of external suppliers, you will lead the day-to-day communications function as a key member of the Fundraising & Communications department. Working closely with the new Director of Fundraising & Communications, you will have the opportunity to help shape Ataxia UK’s new communications and brand strategy. You will work closely with the Director and Managers from the Fundraising team to engage and cultivate our network of Friends and volunteers, celebrity ambassadors, donors and fundraisers through dynamic marketing and communications assets and materials.
Ataxia UK operates a hybrid- working policy, with full time staff working 5 days a week expected to work from our offices in Highgate a minimum of 2 days a week. This is adjusted to 1 day per week for part time.
About you
You will be a creative and dedicated communications professional looking for a new challenge and excited by the opportunity to help shape our new strategy. You will be someone who thrives in a project-management environment, as comfortable learning as you are leading, and able to work both independently and closely with colleagues and external suppliers.
Organised and details-focused, you are confident using data to help steer and focus our communications outputs. You will have a keen understanding of how the role can support our fundraising and you will have experience working closely with fundraising teams or on income-generating projects or events. As curator of our brand and messaging, you will have the skills and experience to ensure we positively represent the interests of the ataxia community, and you will be someone who shares our commitment to supporting those affected by ataxia.
