At Samaritans, our vision is that fewer people die by suicide. We are seeking a passionate and skilled strategic Fundraising Lead to play a crucial role in helping us secure the necessary funds to sustain and expand our work in Chesterfield and the surrounding areas.

Please see below for the key responsibilities of the role:

• To lead on the development and implementation of an income generation plan which supports the charity’s strategic priority of being ‘Financially Sustainable’

• Research and identity local trust and statutory funders of Samaritans services and costs, drafting and submitting applications

• Monitor progress of applications, including reporting back to funders about project outcomes and progress

• Liaise with the Regional Fundraising Officer/Samaritans Central Office Fundraising Team to avoid duplication of approaches to the same funder 

• Research and identify potential community funders such as local businesses and organisations, networking to secure one off donations or regular income

• Arrange local fundraising collections, including booking venues

• If required, recruit and manage new fundraising support volunteers

• Work with the Outreach/Publicity Team to raise awareness of Chesterfield Samaritans

• Attend Board and/or Operations Team meetings where required, reporting on progress and escalating risks

• Comply with national fundraising regulations and Samaritans Fundraising Policies and Procedures

About Pain Concern

Pain Concern is a charity providing information and support to people with pain and those who care for them, whether family, friends or healthcare professionals. Visit our website to find out more about what we do, including our Airing Pain radio programme, Pain Matters magazine, information helpline, community pain education sessions and our research and campaigning work. All pain is unpleasant, but for the 7.8 million people in the UK living with long-term pain it is a part of everyday life. It diminishes quality of life more than any other condition, leading often to loss of work, depression and disability. Anyone at any age can develop persistent pain and you will very probably know somebody affected. Although there is usually no cure, people who receive the appropriate treatment, information and support can manage their condition effectively with life-changing results.

Purpose of Volunteer Role

Pain Concern could not exist without our volunteers. We are looking for someone with an interest in chronic pain to help raise funds for Pain Concern by coordinating fundraising events. 

What would you be doing:

• Maintain communications those fundraising in aid of Pain Concern and provide support

• With support from the Fundraising Team, Fundraising Steering Group and your fellow volunteers, help to plan and deliver events and activities to raise funds and awareness

• Send out fundraising packs

• Liaise with Media Team for publicising fundraisers and events

• Maintain a list of fundraising opportunities such as walks and marathons

• Help develop and maintain the fundraising section of Pain Concern’s website

• Research opportunities to promote community fundraising

• Develop links with local businesses

• Research and organise local fundraising events

• Recruit community fundraisers to support events in their area

• Attend events organised by our fundraisers as the ‘face’ of Pain Concern

• Maintain a database of contact and other ad hoc admin support for the team as required

• Distributing collection tins – popping collection tins into local shops and pubs and collecting them when they’re full.

We are looking for a Volunteer Fundraising Lead to play a significant role in working with the trustees to shape a fundraising strategy, to help raise awareness of Canterbury Food Bank CIO (CFB), and generate income through events, projects and fundraising activities.

CFB currently raises money through grants and individual donations. With an increasing demand on its services, the trustees would like to broaden the charity’s fundraising activities. About Canterbury Food Bank: 

CFB is one of the biggest of its kind in the country.In 2024 it distributed enough emergency parcels to make 117,351 meals, nearly 49,000 of which were for children.

• Work with the Board of Trustees to agree a fundraising strategy, including setting annual fundraising targets
• Help develop, lead, and support a voluntary fundraising team
• Identify income-generating opportunities and develop projects
• Build, develop and maintain relationships to secure funding

We are looking to recruit a Fundraising Volunteer for the Basingstoke Group. As our Fundraising Volunteer you’ll support your Group Coordinator to organise local fundraising activities and events throughout the year.

In this role you’ll be able to develop your organisation, communication and team working skills.Most importantly you’ll inspire your local community to raise funds that help make sure no one has to face MS alone.

Time Commitment

Main purpose of role:

To support the Fundraising Manager with all aspects of fundraising, with a particular focus on donor stewardship, and small grants/trusts/community fundraising.

Fundraising Trustee Role Description:

Overview

Our charitable trust provides grants to charitable organisations to support impactful projects benefitting communities in Westminster. We are seeking an individual with fundraising experience to join the Board of Trustees. 

Key Responsibilities 

· Provide advice on fundraising strategies, opportunities, and best practices to help increase the Trust’s income and grow its impact.

· Identify potential opportunities for donor engagement, partnerships, and alternative income streams.

· Act as an ambassador for the Trust to promote its work.  

· Provide feedback on grant applications, supporting fellow trustees in making informed decisions about which bids to fund.

· Attend and actively contribute to 3-4 trustee meetings per year, held mostly in the evening (with the option to attend remotely for some meetings).

Skills and Experience

· Proven expertise in fundraising and donor engagement, ideally within the charitable sector (essential)

· A good understanding of the challenges and opportunities for smaller charities and community-based organisations (desirable)

· Knowledge of Westminster (desirable)

This role will play a key part in achieving our Vision where disabled children and young adults along with their families can together enjoy a rewarding life, which is fun,beneficial and above all fulfilling.
