Fundraising is still a relatively new activity for DFN Project SEARCH and this role presents the opportunity to play a key part in its expansion to support the further growth of the charity and enable young adults with a learning disability to lead healthier, happier, and more independent lives.
This role will support the Director of Development in implementing DFN Project SEARCH’s fundraising strategy. To date the strategy has focused on securing a small number of larger gifts from philanthropic sources, such as trusts and foundations. We are now evolving the strategy to include growing income from high-net-worth individuals, companies, and individual giving.
This role will lead on the development and implementation of the strategy to secure income from high-net-worth individuals (between five and potentially seven figures) and will also work with the Director of Development and the Development Officer on securing income from, and stewarding, trusts, foundations, and statutory funders. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team there is also the opportunity to input to the wider strategy and development of the charity and support the Director of Development in their role as a member of the Executive Leadership Team.
The team is currently made up of the Director of Development, Corporate Partnership Manager (reporting to the Director of Development), and the Development Officer (reporting to this new role).

About you
Passionate about providing outstanding supporter experiences and face-to-face fundraising as a direct marketing channel, you’ll also need a real enthusiasm for motivating and teaching others about Shelter’s work. A proactive forward thinker, you have a keen eye for detail, are used to working in matrix teams, great at building relationships and a skilled communicator who enjoys sharing knowledge with others. What’s more, you’re a confident decision maker who’s eager to learn more about the F2F fundraising industry and Shelter as a whole.
Experience of face-to-face fundraising would be particularly useful, while an interest to learn more about project management and development is key. Someone who knows how to utilise insight, including the motivations, interests and behaviours of supporters or customers to guide decisions, you’re used to optimising and reviewing campaigns and using data to interpret, analyse and convey results. Equally important, you’re willing to challenge the status quo and introduce new ideas, methods and processes and to critique campaigns and materials to assess and improve.

Main duties & Responsibilities
Securing New Corporate Partnership Business
·To support in the creation of a new corporate fundraising strategy and subsequently implement this

We are looking for a Community Relationship Fundraiser to join our Income Generation team at the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association. Fundraising plays a crucial role in sustaining and advancing our care services and research collaborations within the Association. This support is essential for helping people living with and affected by MND.
You will play a key role in supporting fundraisers, helping them to reach their goals while building lasting connections with our charity. Ensuring income to the Association and lifetime value is maximised. Providing essential guidance and support to fundraisers within your area, your focus will be on ensuring supporters feel valued and engaged, helping them to maximise their fundraising potential. The Prince of Wales Hospice provides specialist palliative care for adults with a terminal diagnosis, and those around them. The hospice offers a 14-bedroom ward for patients who need round the clock care as well as a Wellbeing service – in total The Prince of Wales Hospice cares for over 300 people a year!
The care provided at The Prince of Wales Hospice concentrates on quality of life and the alleviation of distressing psychological, spiritual, physical and social symptoms. It also includes support in bereavement. To provide this care, they have a highly skilled team with a wide range of specialisms.
Despite costing £12,000 a day to run the hospice and £4m a year, all of the services are entirely free of charge to patients and their families. We are looking for an experienced Individual Giving Fundraiser to join the fundraising team at this fabulous hospice.
The Role
As Individual Giving Fundraiser you will be responsible for planning and executing appropriate in-memory, legacy and general mailed appeals & marketing campaigns. Duties will include:
- Building a plan to promote in-mem & celebration fundraising
- Working collaboratively with the Fundraising and Marketing Teams delivering campaigns and communications across all channels to maximise income streams
- Managing legacy administration, building and stewarding strong, mutually beneficial relationships with solicitors, will writers, spiritual leaders and funeral directors
- Actively contributing to the development of the Income Generation Business Plan and budgets
- Working with Local Hospice Lottery (liaising with 3rd party provider) to increase the number of venues & players
The Person
To be successful in this extremely exciting role we are looking for an experienced and personable fundraiser. You will possess excellent writing and communication skills, along with experience of using a customer relationship management database and knowledge of fundraising CRM.
Experience of creating engaging appeals with budgets and on time is desirable as is experience line managing or supervising staff or volunteers. You will be willing and able to independently travel to external meetings and events and have the ability to show empathy with good emotional intelligence. Maintaining a positive professional approach when representing the Hospice will be essential at all times.

Responsibilities
- Lead and innovate UK fundraising efforts, focusing on major donors and corporates.
- Develop a creative 3-year fundraising strategy and set actionable annual and quarterly objectives.
- Cultivate and expand relationships with new major donors, moving them along a prospect pipeline.
- Support the stewardship of existing major donor relationships, ensuring continued and increased support.
- Draft compelling theories of change, cases for support, and other key materials.
- Manage our visionary ‘donor circle’ initiative.
- Build and strengthen corporate partnerships, crafting tailored cultivation plans.

Qualifications
- 5+ years of fundraising experience, ideally within an NGO or a related field.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a confident and engaging presence and an impact driven mindset
- Significant experience in researching and developing strong stakeholder relationships

Job Purpose
Working across fundraising and communications you will develop and manage your own portfolio of existing Trusts and Foundations, community and individual donors, and research and prioritise new opportunities ensuring high quality stewardship to secure ongoing support.
