At The Hygiene Bank, our volunteers are the heart and soul of everything we do and achieve as a charity. Without the incredible individuals up and down the country who generously give their time to run our local hygiene bank projects, collecting and distributing essential products through our network of community partners, our charity simply wouldn’t exist.

The Hygiene Bank aspires to build the best recruited, best trained and best supported community of volunteers in the charity sector. In particular, our volunteers and projects are central to our aspirations to engage Parliamentarians and other key stakeholders, and to raise awareness of hygiene poverty, in support of our goal to end it for good. 

Thanks to a generous grant, we are now able to recruit a Volunteer Officer, who will play a pivotal role supporting and empowering this brilliant community. As such, you will play a key part in shaping the future of a national anti-poverty charity working on a key social justice challenge.

About The Hygiene Bank 

Hygiene poverty is not being able to afford many of the everyday hygiene and personal grooming products most of us take for granted. The reality of low income is that it restricts people’s options, leaving us caught between being able to heat our homes, pay the rent, eat, or be clean.  It is washing hair, bodies, faces and clothes in the same cheap washing-up liquid used for the dishes. It is not being able to replace a toothbrush when needed or sharing a toothbrush because one each just isn't an option. It is having to choose between shaving foam and razors or the transport fare to a job interview. 

Hygiene Poverty is the hidden crisis facing the UK. In 2024, The Hygiene Bank published a research report into the incidence and impact of hygiene poverty. It found that over 4.2m adults in the UK are affected by hygiene poverty, that is an additional 1.1m people into hygiene poverty since 2022 - the equivalent of the population of Birmingham.  

Hygiene poverty is not only on the rise, it’ is also undermining the nation’s health: 50% of those affected by hygiene poverty say that it is causing them anxiety or depression. 92% of people affected report that it limits their social interactions with friends and family. 54% of those affected have not gone to the dentist in the last 12 months. But most importantly, it’s putting people in impossible situations. A staggering 69% of adults experiencing hygiene poverty are having to make the difficult decision between paying for essential needs like food and bills or purchasing basic toiletries. 65% of parents affected by hygiene poverty have had to choose between buying hygiene products for themselves or their children.

About the role 

This role will be part of the Operations Team and will work closely with the Partnership Managers who support our projects on a day-to-day basis; you will provide exceptional service across key parts of the volunteering journey including recruitment, training and engagement. 

Job Description  

Responsibilities 

• Recruitment: Design and implement compelling volunteer recruitment campaigns at a national level and for specific areas of the UK 

• Virtual Volunteering: Develop our offer for volunteers to bring their skills, experience and time to the charity outside our local community and project structures, for example coordinating volunteers who can support local projects with social media, or with fundraising. 

• Onboarding: Design and run volunteer the volunteer onboarding process, ensuring that all of our volunteers have the tools they need to be successful 

• Governance: Administrate and coordinate the Volunteer Council, a new Committee designed to centre volunteer voice in the charity’s governance 

• Consultation: Further develop the charity’s volunteer survey and create ongoing opportunities for feedback and consultation from our volunteer community 

• Training: Identify areas for training, source and develop these, providing exciting and effective opportunities for our volunteers to develop their skills, practice and impact

• Resources: Working with the Partnership Managers and other colleagues in the central team, design and develop video and written resources to support the projects in their day-to-day work. The postholder will also hold responsibility for the Volunteer Members’ Area, ensuring content is up to date, relevant and useful. 

• Communications: Collate compelling, informative and engaging content and write the monthly volunteers’ newsletter, ensuring volunteers’ achievements are celebrated, that they understand and are involved in the charity’s development. You will also be responsible for developing new and effective communication channels. 

• Data: through collecting and sharing data on our volunteers and their experience with the charity, you will report on progress and suggest ways to continously improve our offer. You will also ensure that data is captured appropriately on our systems.

Experience 

You will have a minimum of two years’ experience in the following: 

• Volunteer engagement, with a particular emphasis on consulting and convening diverse groups of people in the service of progressing a cause or project

• The prospect research officer will join a dynamic team contributing to the overall growth of our Partnerships and Philanthropic income and sits within the newly formed Research and Engagement team.

The Dash Charity is looking for a Development Officer to join our wonderful team.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a local domestic abuse charity with a huge influence and reach. For almost 50 years The Dash Charity has been supporting individuals and families experiencing domestic abuse, empowering women, men and children to recognise the tactics of abuse, break the cycle, and take back control of their lives.

We were one of the first charities in the UK to be awarded Leading Lights status for our Advocacy and Outreach Services by SafeLives, and pioneered healthy relationships workshops in schools over a decade ago.

We run three refuges that offer a sanctuary to women and children escaping violence and abuse, offering specialist children’s support and one to one support for women.

We’re now looking for an ambitious and dedicated individual to help us to secure essential funding to continue delivering our life-changing services into the future.

Role Purpose:

We are seeking an ambitious individual that cares about ending violence against women and girls, who is determined to make a difference for all adults and children experiencing domestic abuse. As The Dash Charity Development Officer, you will be responsible for seeking funding from trusts and foundations, to enable us to deliver life changing services and projects.

You will have excellent attention to detail and be willing to gain a strong understanding of how the charity works and the services we deliver by working closely with our frontline staff.

You will work with our Senior Management Team to understand the charity’s impact, identify funding opportunities, and contribute to strategic service development. You will have strong communication skills and be able to build good relationships with our funders.

Job Purpose

Contribute to the implementation of the University of Glasgow’s fundraising and alumni engagement strategies by building compelling propositions and identifying, cultivating and soliciting prospective donors with capacity to give from £10K to £1M, meeting targets for activity and revenue.

Main Duties

1. Contribute to the development and execution of the University’s fundraising strategy and particularly for the programme to secure gifts of between £10K and £1M. Assist in the development of the complex action plans to deliver the strategy.

2. Keep abreast of developments in leading major gift cultivation and solicitation practice to ensure all work is subject to continuous improvement.

3. Lead the development of relationships with key alumni and other potential donors by managing a pool of potential donors. Devise and execute bespoke programmes of involvement and communication that lead to major gifts (e.g involvement in alumni programmes, invitations to prestigious/intimate University events, devising visits to campus and individual meetings with academic staff and University leadership).

4. Both solo, and with other staff, use professional expertise to deliver a programme of proactively meeting with potential donors to understand their interests and motivations, set them on a path to major gift support and solicit gifts in person (mostly five, but also six and seven figure gifts). The post-holder will need to represent the interests of the entire University in developing these relationships from research and teaching to widening participation, entrepreneurship and civic programmes. Conduct a target number of face-to-face meetings per annum.

5. In collaboration with academic colleagues, articulate convincingly the University’s priority themes and projects for philanthropic support. Develop powerful case statements, project descriptions and tailored proposals for presentation to potential major donors. Liaise with beneficiary areas to ensure the object of any proposal is properly costed and can be delivered.

6. Drawing on specialist knowledge, provide advice to prospective major donors (whether proactively engaged or approaching the University independently) on how to structure and best effect their giving intentions.

7. Negotiate gift agreements, managing donor and academic expectations to balance the donor’s intent with priorities and capacity of the beneficiary area to deliver and ensuring this is communicated appropriately to donors.

8. Using detailed knowledge, use the University’s alumni and donor database (Raiser’s Edge), to ensure relationships with potential donors are recorded and tracked so a complete record of the relationship is maintained. Analyse progress and provide relevant reports on activity.

9. Build and share thorough understanding of University priority projects for philanthropic support. The postholder may be required to become the expert on a particular project, School, College or beneficiary area and to brief fundraising and other colleagues appropriately.

10. Provide specialist advice to academic and other colleagues on individual potential donor relationships, on fundraising and alumni/donor engagement generally and on its operation at the University of Glasgow.

11. Be prepared to undertake projects appropriate to the grade of the role – including line management - but that might fall outside its direct remit as the Director, Head of Philanthropy and/or Vice Principal External Relations may advise.

We’re looking for a team member to help drive our Service Delivery Hub pilot project in the southwest area, close to Bristol, during 2025.

Community Engagement Officer (Service Delivery Hub pilot)

This fixed term role is all about supporting the design, plan and test of our Service Delivery Hub pilot project, working closely with the Head of Hub Development and the wider Dogs for Good team. Building on experience from our other project work, this role will:

· Raise Awareness: Lead initiatives to promote our work, building and developing relationships with organisations that support or connect with our key audience groups

· Community Engagement: Be a key contact for our local Dogs for Good community, including those we support, our volunteers, and potential beneficiaries. Nurture and grow our community and help manage enquiries, provide guidance, and track interest to anticipate future needs

· Volunteer Management: Actively recruit, support, and manage volunteers, leveraging best practices we've piloted

· Fundraising: Seek and prepare responses to local funding opportunities and collaborate with central teams to support existing projects and develop new community fundraising initiatives

· Service Integration: Work with the Dogs for Good team to integrate our services within the Hub for maximum impact, ensuring we have the necessary processes, tools, and materials

· Evaluation and Reporting: Engage in evaluation and reporting to assess the pilot's impact, providing objective feedback and ideas for improvement. Ensure data collection aligns with our Data Protection policy and partner agreements

· Service Support: Assist our service delivery team, for example by finding and coordinating suitable venues for safe and effective service delivery

· Safeguarding: Monitor and take appropriate steps to safeguard clients, including vulnerable children and adults, in line with our Safeguarding Policy

· Additional Tasks: Perform any other tasks as agreed with your line manager

This role is very much helping to shape and trial our pilot project, so elements of the role and specific tasks will develop as the project progresses – the areas above are the main areas of focus.

Role Overview

An extraordinary opportunity has come up to lead The Resilience Project’s next phase of growth. From start-up to scale-up, TRP is now looking for a dynamic leader to develop our offerings and oversee our international operations. The CEO will provide strategic leadership and direction to The Resilience Project, ensuring the organisation achieves its mission and strategic goals. This role is a unique blend of internally and externally focused responsibilities. For the latter, working alongside our Founder, you will act as the face of the organisation, building partnerships, securing funding, and ensuring that our programs continue to deliver exceptional impact. For the former, working alongside our COO, you will oversee the financial health of the organisation, iterate scaling infrastructure strategy and foster a culture of inclusion, innovation, joy and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership: Focus on scaling and strengthening The Resilience Project, particularly developing alternative revenue generating pathways, key partnerships and long-term sustainable funding mechanisms. From this, develop and implement a long-term strategy that aligns with the organisation’s mission, vision, and values. Lead the organisation in responding to emerging challenges and opportunities in climate justice, youth mental health, and resilience-building. Embody and model our values of courage, care, co-design, community, joy and inclusivity.

• Organisational Development: Build and nurture a high-performing team of international staff and volunteers. Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and empowering organisational culture. Work closely with the Senior Board to ensure effective governance and accountability.

• Financial Management: Working with the Finance and Fundraising Lead, develop and oversee budgets, ensuring financial sustainability and smooth cashflow. Diversify income streams through grants, partnerships, donations, and other revenue opportunities. Lead in the development and creation of additional revenue opportunities.

• Programme Oversight: Working with the Programmes Office, ensure the continued delivery and development of impactful initiatives such as the Resilience Fellowship Programme, community Programmes and workshops. Monitor and evaluate programme impact to ensure quality, effectiveness and relevance to the youth climate justice movement. Oversee our international expansion, leading on risk assessment and ensuring any development promotes sensitivity, inclusion, co-design and resilience.

• Partnerships and Advocacy: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including funders, partners, and youth organisations. Act as an ambassador for The Resilience Project, advocating for youth empowerment and climate resilience on national and international platforms.

• Communications and Fundraising: Oversee the organisation’s communications and marketing strategy to enhance visibility and engagement. Lead fundraising efforts to secure the resources necessary to achieve the organisation’s goals.

• Line Management: Act as line manager to Finance and Fundraising Lead, and Marketing and Communications Lead, overseeing workflow and monthly wellbeing check-ins.
