Summary of the role:
The Communications Officer plays a key role in executing the organisation’s communication strategy. This role involves creating and managing content for various platforms, supporting media relations, and contributing to the overall communication campaigns and public relations efforts. The Communications Officer will work closely with other team members and the marketing team to ensure that all communication activities are aligned with the organisation’s strategic goals and effectively engage target audiences.

The Role
Resources for Autism has been providing services from 858 Finchley Road for many years and now working in partnership with the London Borough of Barnet are excited to be establishing the space as an Autism Hub for Children and Young People (CYP). The vision of the hub, is to create a welcoming, safe, neuro-affirmative place where autistic people and those who love and care for them can access the support and social opportunities they need at the right time, enabling them to live their best life. It will also be a place where professionals can connect, collaborate and learn ensuring services are joined-up and effective.
The service will offer a range of support to parents and carers and children and young people with autism in Barnet. The service offer could include:
- Advice support and signposting to the autism community pre and post diagnosis
- Weekly drop ins
- Social groups for autistic young people and those who love and care for them.
- Calendar of monthly workshops on specific issues addressing the needs of parent carers/ adults
- Behaviour surgeries for parents
- Autism Training to partner organisations
The Autism Hub Manager is the lead role of this project who will be responsible for certain elements of its direct delivery, managing partnerships and coordinating key professionals and maintaining responsibility for the building/ venue day to day. You will have a small team of Hub Support Workers who will work under your supervision in order to deliver the service/ support as necessary and an administrator. You will work closely with partners and service users to ensure a co-production approach is taken, ensuring that the voice of autistic people is rooted in every element of the project from inception to implementation to evaluation.
We are looking for a values-driven candidate with previous experience of managing projects, managing a venue, advanced knowledge of autism and ability to flex their communication style to meet the needs of the people who use our service, their families, our staff and our volunteers.
You will have a great team of people around you and the opportunity to lead a new and innovative wellbeing project which will make enhance the offer for the Autism Community of Barnet.
Main Responsibilities:
· Overall responsibility for managing this service by ensuring all elements of it are carefully planned, delivered and well communicated across all stakeholders (staff, service users, commissioners, professionals)
· Coordinate time tables of dropins, activities, workshops and other service delivery areas.
· Oversee and manage the general usage of the building, including room usage and room/ desk bookings.
· Take responsibility for the premises, alongside RfA staff, to ensure high standards and requirements are met re: H&S, facilities, fire, first aid and other building related duties.
· Deliver occasional elements of direct support.
· Ensure suitable promotion and advertising of the service to families, autistic individuals and professionals in Barnet ensuring that it reaches the right people.
· Possible occasional home visits to make assessments and match people to relevant group/ service.
· Ensure a co-production approach is taken capturing views and opinions of experts by experience to influence the shape and direction of the service.
· Line-manage Hub Access Officers and sessional staff who will work in the Hub offering guidance and support and 121’s.
· Ensure a good link to other services within RfA and provided by other local agencies to ensure efficient working, minimal duplication and proactive joined up working.
· Work with Marketing to design any materials needed to promote the hub, it’s activities and ensure people can sign up to any training/ workshops that are offered.
· Ensure effective monitoring and evaluation of the project and services delivered within the project capturing and measuring outputs and outcomes and ensuring the project is reviewed on an ongoing basis. Ensure results are communicated to commissioners at regular intervals.
· Work with the wider Resources for Autism teams including colleagues in Behaviour, People Team, Finance and Fundraising, contributing meaningfully to the future direction of RfA.
· Undertake training and development necessary to develop in your role as an autism specialist.
· Conduct thorough risk assessments of the building, all events and activities and maintain confidentiality at all times.
· Uphold and adhere to the values of RfA at all time.
· Ensure there is always compliance with RfA’s safeguarding policies and procedures.
· All staff are expected to promote equality in the workplace and in our services.
· Undertake any other duties asked of you that are commensurate with your grade.

Minimum of 3 years post qualification children, young people and families work

We have an exciting opening for someone to join our team as Head of Core Campaigns. Playing a senior role in our Impactful Campaigns department, you’ll help run and win campaigns that make the UK a better place but you’ll also be a key player in shaping the overall direction of 38 Degrees – including the culture, the team, and organisational strategy.
Day-to-day, you’ll be developing campaign and public affairs and media strategies and guiding teams to put those plans into action.
No one day will be the same: sometimes you’ll be responding quickly to a news moment and other times working on longer term projects and campaigns, often needing to change direction or reprioritise quickly and decisively.
You’ll be a champion of our supporters and come up with ideas and tactics – from digital tools like petitions, to media and working with external partners and allies – that will engage huge numbers of people, and allow us to make real change in the world. We need a campaigns expert who understands politics, the media, digital campaigning, partnership working and what it takes to win campaigns.
The Head of Core Campaigns leads the Campaigns team, overseeing and supporting the development of plans and supporting the team to run impactful, highly engaging campaigns, which aim to shape the country to be fair, respectful and sustainable; and the Public Affairs and Media team, to ensure that we’re taking every opportunity to show decision-makers our muscle and boost our brand and reputation.
Your background and experience
To succeed in this role, you’ll need excellent communication skills, sound political judgement, the ability to thrive when working at pace and to role model a collaborative approach. This is not a hands off role, and you’ll be expected to lead the team, and our ‘one team’ way of working culture, by example.

About the Team:
This role will sit across the Digital Product team and Innovation Lab - Income, supporting existing work in the Communications and Fundraising directorate as well as shaping the lab’s experiments to grow new sources of income. We are looking for an experienced Digital Product Designer to join our in-house team and drive the design and development of innovative digital products. The ideal candidate will be passionate about creating user-friendly, visually appealing, and functional web experiences. In collaboration with cross-functional teams, including product managers, developers, and stakeholders, you will:
In this role, you will lead the User Experience (UX) design process from ideation to implementation, ensuring products meet user needs and business objectives.
You’ll also:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, developers, and stakeholders, to co-design and iterate clickable web prototypes.
- Design and prototype engaging digital experiences using tools like Figma and other associated design software.
- Develop and refine content approaches, UX flows, and visual designs for Prototypes, Minimal Viable Products MVPs .
- Ensure the digital products are optimised for functionality and user engagement, including the ability to collect user feedback, analyse features, and secure data (e.g., waitlist sign-ups) for promotional use.
- Help to develop systems & processes for running experiments in collaboration with the Innovation Lab and contribute to selection of tools, vendors etc.
- Design solutions for non-wateraid domains (e.g.,com, io, tech, club), as determined by product requirements.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest design trends, tools, and techniques, applying this knowledge to enhance the user experience.
Time Allocation:
- 40% of your time will be spent supporting the Innovation Lab – Income, focusing on driving MVPs and platforms to market, meeting key product launch targets.
- The remaining 60% of your time will be dedicated to working within the digital product team, which manages the development of our website and collaborates with other teams in Mass Engagement and Communications to implement acquisition strategies and enhance user engagement.
About You:
- Proven experience in digital product design, with a strong portfolio showcasing work on web and mobile platforms.
- Expertise in Figma and familiarity with other design tools (e.g., Sketch, Adobe XD, InVision).
- Strong understanding of UX principles and the ability to translate user needs into intuitive design solutions.
- Strong knowledge of accessibility standards and best practices, with demonstrable experience of accessible design work.
- Proven ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring cohesion, collaboration and comprehension of complex principles.
- Experience with co-designing clickable prototypes and collaborating with developers to implement designs that not only are creatively appealing but deliver analytical requirements that experiments require.
- Knowledge of front-end development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and experience working closely with developers.
- Proven ability to work across diverse cultures and stakeholder groups, effectively balancing stakeholder needs with the project delivery timescales.
- Ability to design for MVPs and iterate quickly based on user feedback and data analysis.
- Familiarity with designing around payment gateways and secure data collection methods.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present and explain design concepts to stakeholders.
- Ability to turn project briefs into reality, navigating and interpreting stakeholder needs to ensure the best outcome

The role of Communications and Marketing Coordinator sits within the Communications Team at Kids Matter.
