About us
Who we are
Resources for Autism’s vision is a world where autistic people are able to live fulfilling lives, with equal chances to reach their full potential. For over 27 years, we have provided practical support for autistic people and for those who love and care for them. From community support to group activities, therapy sessions, parent support and sibling groups to holiday play schemes; we aim to give those whom we support a better and happier life. In addition to that we have trained and built the capacity of many public and private organisations who work with autistic people in order to change society’s autism narrative.
Our culture and values
Our values are deeply embedded within us, owned by us all and drives everything we do. The artwork developed by our staff has been an imaginative exploration of them and a lovely reminder of where these values sit with us.
Inclusive: We welcome uniqueness and difference. We accept individuals for who they are and where they are in their personal development.
Creative: We recognise the importance of playfulness, flexibility and fun and we empower individuals to celebrate their skills and personality.
Compassionate: We offer empathetic, non-judgemental support, showing respect for each individual’s lived experiences.
Courageous: We continually persevere and battle to ensure our service users, staff and community get the care and support they need.
Expert: We listen, learn, and adapt to build our autism knowledge, experience and provide relevant, high quality, autism support.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
As you would expect, we are a neuro-affirming employer, with a strengths and rights based approach to neurodiversity which affirms neurodivergent identity – we don’t want to “fix” or “cure” autism, and we don’t see it as a “disability” however we do recognise it can be “disabling”. We are working to improve the ways in which we recruit and support neurodiverse employees and those with lived experience of neurodiversity.
RfA is a Disability Confidant employer and candidates who meet the minimum essential criteria, that have a disability will be guaranteed an interview.
We particularly welcome applications from global majority candidates, LGBTQIA+ candidates and disabled candidates, because we would like to increase the representation of these groups at Resources for Autism. We want to do this because we know greater diversity will lead to even greater results for our community.
