Summary of the role:
The Communications Officer plays a key role in executing the organisation’s communication strategy. This role involves creating and managing content for various platforms, supporting media relations, and contributing to the overall communication campaigns and public relations efforts. The Communications Officer will work closely with other team members and the marketing team to ensure that all communication activities are aligned with the organisation’s strategic goals and effectively engage target audiences.
About the Role:
- Create engaging content for the organisation’s communication platforms ensuring that all content aligns with the organisation’s messaging and brand guidelines.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to engage followers and improve reach.
- Manage the collation, storage and dissemination of the organisation’s digital archives in line with established guidelines and operational requirements.
- Prepare stakeholder media summaries and reports on the organisation’s media coverage and its key issues.
- Maintain a database of media contacts that can be used to strengthen stakeholder management.

Key Responsibilities:
- Continuously reviewing and updating our database and data processes
- Assist the Head of Donor Support Services with data entry, processing, and data manipulation.
- Carry out data cleaning and database health-checking processes, ensuring that data is regularly cleaned and that duplicate supporter records are merged.
- Support the department in their use of the Raiser’s Edge database and keep training guides up to date to ensure best practice use of this resource.
- Improve and develop new processes for the use of data to support the fundraising strategy.
- Assist the Head of Donor Support Services with analysis, insight, and reporting of fundraising data.
- Import all electronic data from various sources to the database using Import’omatic and Raiser’s Edge import functions.
- Prepare data for fundraising marketing and communications and monitor email bounce-backs and out-of-office messages to keep supporter records up to date.
- Ensure data used for fundraising complies with Norwood’s GDPR and direct marketing policies and ensure adherence to the Fundraising Regulator Code of Practice.
- Utilise good communication skills, both verbal and written, to build relationships with stakeholders and donors.
- Provide support for emerging priorities, as agreed with your line manager, for example, assisting colleagues in the Donor Support Services team with data input during and after fundraising events and appeal launches.
- Assist at evening or weekend fundraising events, including the Annual Dinner.
- Be an active member of the Fundraising and Community Engagement department and work on any other initiatives as required.
Essential Experience / Skills
- Advanced user of a database or CRM.
- Experience as a data administrator or similar role involving manipulating data
- Experience of using Raiser’s Edge or a similar charity database
- Some experience of running queries and reports and exporting data
- Some experience of running data health routines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel to an intermediate level

Crisis is the national charity for people experiencing homelessness. In 2024 we embarked on our new 10-year strategy for ending homelessness. We know it is not inevitable. We know together we can end it.

Remuneration This role has been benchmarked at a UK salary of £44,500 (pro rata for a part time position). Global Dialogue offers a range of benefits including 25 days’ annual leave plus public holidays (pro rata), a flexible working policy, and personal development leave. We contribute 6% to our employee’s workplace pension (on qualifying earnings).

The HAMRAH Initiative is designed to address the significant challenges faced by Afghan civil society organisations (CSOs) forced into exile, particularly women-led organisations, as they continue to provide protection for vulnerable groups within Afghanistan. The initiative focuses on fostering collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and advocacy to safeguard the rights of vulnerable populations, including women and girls.
Through sustained technical support and resources, HAMRAH aims to build a stronger Afghan civil society equipped with essential organisational infrastructure, leadership skills, and collaborative networks to preserve hard-won gains and advance rights and protections for vulnerable groups.
Currently, we are supporting 10 Afghan CSOs in exile, located around the world, that continue working partially or fully inside Afghanistan to protect vulnerable populations, including women and girls, LGBTQ+ communities, and individuals with disabilities.

Overview
The Senior Programme Officer - Development & Advocacy will play a vital role in advancing the HAMRAH initiative and strengthening the resilience of cohort organisations through fundraising, research, joint policy advocacy, communication, and capacity development. This position requires a dynamic and caring professional with experience working with Global South CSOs, as well as the passion and empathy to drive strategic initiatives, build partnerships, and amplify programmatic impact. In this role, you will collaborate closely with HAMRAH's partner cohort organisations (10 CSOs in exile), mentors, the advisory board, and other key stakeholders. The right post holder will be comfortable responding to the needs of a cohort of organisations whose priorities may change, which can lead to working in ways that require flexibility. There will be opportunities to explore, discuss and debate new ideas and consider how the latest research could benefit the cohort of organisations.

Job Description
Fundraising and Grant Writing: Work with the Programme Director to identify funding opportunities, lead the drafting and reviewing of proposals, concept notes, and grant applications for the HAMRAH initiative and its cohort organisations. Monitor funding trends and donor priorities to develop tailored and compelling proposals.
Policy and Joint Advocacy: Support HAMRAH and cohort organisations in designing and implementing targeted joint advocacy campaigns, including strategy and messaging development. Help facilitate policy dialogue and engagement with relevant stakeholders, including government officials, donors, and civil society networks, to advance the priorities of HAMRAH and its cohort organisations.
Research and Analysis: Conduct research and analysis to inform programme strategies, advocacy efforts, and policy development. This includes helping produce briefing papers, reports, and articles with clear recommendations based on HAMRAH’s work and evidence. Also monitor emerging trends, challenges, and opportunities in Afghanistan and other exiled communities across Global South to ensure programming remains responsive, relevant and impactful.
Communication and Reporting: Lead the development of newsletters and other digital communication materials to showcase HAMRAH’s achievements and cohort organisations’ work. If needed and approved by cohort, coordinate digital engagement strategies, including website updates and social media campaigns, to enhance HAMRAH visibility and outreach. Lead the drafting of narrative and financial reports to donors.
Capacity Development: support assessment of capacity-building needs of cohort organisations and develop tailored training plans to address identified gaps. When needed, provide technical support to cohort organisations to strengthen their operational and programmatic capacities.
Learning and Exchange: Support the planning and execution of online and in-person cross-learning exchange workshops with partner organisations in the Global South. Facilitate opportunities for collaboration and collective learning, and help establish global solidarity networks, platforms, and resources to enhance knowledge-sharing among cohort organisations.

Required

At least 5 years of experience in programme support across fundraising, joint advocacy, partnership, research and capacity development, particularly in the non-profit or international development sectors.

The Role
Resources for Autism has been providing services from 858 Finchley Road for many years and now working in partnership with the London Borough of Barnet are excited to be establishing the space as an Autism Hub for Children and Young People (CYP). The vision of the hub, is to create a welcoming, safe, neuro-affirmative place where autistic people and those who love and care for them can access the support and social opportunities they need at the right time, enabling them to live their best life. It will also be a place where professionals can connect, collaborate and learn ensuring services are joined-up and effective.
The service will offer a range of support to parents and carers and children and young people with autism in Barnet. The service offer could include:
- Advice support and signposting to the autism community pre and post diagnosis
- Weekly drop ins
- Social groups for autistic young people and those who love and care for them.
- Calendar of monthly workshops on specific issues addressing the needs of parent carers/ adults
- Behaviour surgeries for parents
- Autism Training to partner organisations
The Autism Hub Manager is the lead role of this project who will be responsible for certain elements of its direct delivery, managing partnerships and coordinating key professionals and maintaining responsibility for the building/ venue day to day. You will have a small team of Hub Support Workers who will work under your supervision in order to deliver the service/ support as necessary and an administrator. You will work closely with partners and service users to ensure a co-production approach is taken, ensuring that the voice of autistic people is rooted in every element of the project from inception to implementation to evaluation.
We are looking for a values-driven candidate with previous experience of managing projects, managing a venue, advanced knowledge of autism and ability to flex their communication style to meet the needs of the people who use our service, their families, our staff and our volunteers.
You will have a great team of people around you and the opportunity to lead a new and innovative wellbeing project which will make enhance the offer for the Autism Community of Barnet.
Main Responsibilities:
· Overall responsibility for managing this service by ensuring all elements of it are carefully planned, delivered and well communicated across all stakeholders (staff, service users, commissioners, professionals)
· Coordinate time tables of dropins, activities, workshops and other service delivery areas.
· Oversee and manage the general usage of the building, including room usage and room/ desk bookings.
· Take responsibility for the premises, alongside RfA staff, to ensure high standards and requirements are met re: H&S, facilities, fire, first aid and other building related duties.
· Deliver occasional elements of direct support.
· Ensure suitable promotion and advertising of the service to families, autistic individuals and professionals in Barnet ensuring that it reaches the right people.
· Possible occasional home visits to make assessments and match people to relevant group/ service.
· Ensure a co-production approach is taken capturing views and opinions of experts by experience to influence the shape and direction of the service.
· Line-manage Hub Access Officers and sessional staff who will work in the Hub offering guidance and support and 121’s.
· Ensure a good link to other services within RfA and provided by other local agencies to ensure efficient working, minimal duplication and proactive joined up working.
· Work with Marketing to design any materials needed to promote the hub, it’s activities and ensure people can sign up to any training/ workshops that are offered.
· Ensure effective monitoring and evaluation of the project and services delivered within the project capturing and measuring outputs and outcomes and ensuring the project is reviewed on an ongoing basis. Ensure results are communicated to commissioners at regular intervals.
· Work with the wider Resources for Autism teams including colleagues in Behaviour, People Team, Finance and Fundraising, contributing meaningfully to the future direction of RfA.
· Undertake training and development necessary to develop in your role as an autism specialist.
· Conduct thorough risk assessments of the building, all events and activities and maintain confidentiality at all times.
· Uphold and adhere to the values of RfA at all time.
· Ensure there is always compliance with RfA’s safeguarding policies and procedures.
