About us
Crisis is the national charity for homeless people. We know that homelessness is not inevitable. We know that together we can end it.
Crisis is getting ready to publish its 10-year strategy, setting out the steps we’ll take to bring about the end of homelessness. To support our bold ambitions, we’ve refreshed our organisational values and are digging into what we can do better to build the culture we need.
Using your communication and engagement skills, you’ll be helping to make a difference to the lives of thousands of people experiencing homelessness right now.
We’re an open, friendly, and dedicated team. We love to learn and between us have a broad range of communication and technical skills. We work hard to support one another as well as the wider organisation and are never too busy to share our thoughts or offer an extra pair of hands.
Hours: 35 per week (we are also open to candidates looking to work 28 hours per week or compressed hours as per Crisis’ Flexible Working Policy)
Location: Based in our London office, close to Liverpool Street and Aldgate (we are open to a range of flexible working options, in line with Crisis’ Hybrid-Working Policy)
About the role
As our Employee Communications and Engagement Lead, you’ll be supporting more than 600 colleagues across England, Scotland, and Wales.
Our colleagues work in a huge variety of roles and are based in lots of different locations. It’s our job to help make sure everyone has access to the information and tools they need to do their best work, regardless of where they’re based or when and how they work. This might mean making sure they have access to guidance to help them support a vulnerable member (the people we support); sharing information on a new staff benefit, such as our network of Mental Health First Aiders; or an invitation to learn about our latest campaign or fundraising event.
When it comes to sharing information and bringing people together, your role will be key. We’re well networked across the organisation and have a wide range of communication tools and channels in place, but we know we can do better. You’ll be encouraged to share your thoughts and ideas and to explore your curious side.
Day to day you’ll work with stakeholders across Crisis to help raise awareness and understanding of our strategic goals and to build engagement and excitement around our cultural ambitions. You’ll contribute to the wider work of the Employee Communication and Engagement team and our priorities for 2024. This includes the ongoing development of a new intranet, embedding Crisis’ new values, building awareness and understanding of Crisis’ strategic aims, and carrying out an audience segmentation exercise.
You’ll report to the Head of Employee Communications and Engagement and will be supported by our Employee Communications and Events Assistant, as well as colleagues across the organisation who will share their expertise and knowledge and help you to build your own network of peers.
About you
We’re looking for an experienced communications expert who has planned, managed, and evaluated strategic engagement for either internal or external audiences; someone who is people-focused with great interpersonal skills. Someone who can build and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues in all parts of the organisation.
You’ll be committed to strengthening the voice of our staff and to influence the way we share information and knowledge, including our strategic priorities.
You’re curious, creative, and open to new ideas, pushing us as a team and encouraging others to think about different ways to engage and build connections.
You’ll bring experience of delivering communication campaigns to diverse audiences and will be confident in using a variety of digital tools to support great engagement. If there’s something you don’t know, you’ll look for ways to learn and boost your skills.
You understand the importance of planning ahead, are proactive and can use your own initiative to troubleshoot challenges and prioritise.
We believe diversity is a strength, and our aim is to make sure that Crisis truly reflects the communities we serve. We are actively working towards our organisation being a place where everyone can thrive and make their best contribution to our mission of ending homelessness for good. We know that the more perspectives, voices, and experiences we can bring to this work, the better. We particularly welcome applications from people who have lived experience of homelessness, and people from all marginalised groups, communities, and backgrounds.
Working at Crisis
As a member of the team, you will have access to a wide range of employee benefits including:
-
Interest free loans for travel season ticket, cycle to work, and deposit to secure a tenancy.
-
Pension scheme with an employer contribution of 8.5%
-
28 days’ annual leave
-
Enhanced maternity, paternity, shared parental, and adoption pay.
-
Flexible working around the core hours 10am-4pm
-

About FILE
The Foundation for International Law for the Environment (FILE) was set up in 2018 to be the major philanthropic re-granter scaling up legal action globally to tackle the climate and the biodiversity crises.
We work as movement enablers, campaign strategists, and impact funders, using the law in pursuit of three interconnected system-level goals:
- Reducing net greenhouse gas emissions to protect the climate
- Safeguarding nature
- Delivering climate and environmental justice
We pursue these goals not just by supporting legal action directly. We believe in growing the strength of the climate and biodiversity legal movement globally, and in enabling people and movements to use legal action to shift narratives.
As movement enablers, campaign strategists, and impact funders, we at FILE do not ourselves bring litigation. As a regrantor, FILE is not an endowed foundation, but rather we engage in fundraising to secure resources to support our partners globally.
Working for FILE
FILE is a collaborative community of individuals who share a passion for climate, nature, and justice. We bring together knowledge and experience to support our mission.
Our people are empowered to lead their work both individually and as part of a wider team in order to make impactful change. As a relatively young organisation with the ambitious mission to change global systems, our roles are ideally suited to those who are highly strategic, flexible and adaptable, and open to growing in line with the Foundation.
FILE is committed to challenging inequality and values diversity, equity and justice in all areas of life. Our mission, work and impact is global, with staff and partners from across the world and a range of lived experiences. We firmly believe that we are strengthened by the diversity of our partners and staff.
At FILE, we actively work to create an inclusive culture where colleagues feel welcomed, heard and supported to succeed and thrive.
How FILE supports its staff
FILE is committed to creating a workplace that supports our staff to do their best work and develop professionally. We offer a generous annual leave policy and additional time-off work to support wellbeing. Amongst other benefits, FILE offers private healthcare and a contribution to a pension scheme.
Location
FILE has offices in London and the Netherlands, and a small hub of staff in Australia. Otherwise, we look to employ relevant staff remotely in the regions where our partners are based.
We are advertising this role for candidates based (and with the right to work) in the UK. We will also consider applications from candidates based in other locations where able to do so.
Applications
The apply button will take you to our website where we will ask you to answer relevant screening questions and to upload your CV. Your answers to these questions will be significant in our initial screening process as we look for an insight into you from those responses.
This role is open for applications immediately and we accept applications on a rolling basis. If you are interested, we encourage you to submit your application as early as possible.
Diversity & Inclusion
As an equal opportunities employer, FILE is committed to the equal treatment of all current and prospective employees and does not condone discrimination on the basis of age, disability, sex, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, race or ethnicity, religion or belief, gender identity, or marriage and civil partnership.
We aspire to have a diverse and inclusive workplace and strongly encourage suitably qualified applicants from a wide range of backgrounds to apply and join FILE. We are committed to continually learning and improving our diversity and inclusion practices, which can best be done if we are as diverse as the people of the world we’re working to protect.

Ein gwerthoedd a'n hymrwymiad i ddiogelu:
Mae Oxfam yn ymrwymedig i atal unrhyw fath o ymddygiad dieisiau yn y gwaith, gan gynnwys aflonyddwch, ecsbloetio a chamdriniaeth rhywiol, diffyg didwylledd a chamymddygiad ariannol; ac mae'n ymrwymedig i hybu lles plant, pobl ifanc ac oedolion a buddiolwyr y mae Oxfam GB yn ymwneud â nhw. Mae Oxfam yn disgwyl i’r holl staff a gwirfoddolwyr rannu’r ymrwymiad hwn trwy ddilyn ein cod ymddygiad. Un o’n blaenoriaethau pwysicaf yw sicrhau mai dim ond y rheiny sy’n rhannu ac yn amlygu ein gwerthoedd sy’n cael eu recriwtio i weithio i ni.
Bydd deiliad y swydd yn ymgymryd â'r lefel briodol o hyfforddiant, ac yn gyfrifol am sicrhau ei fod yn deall polisïau diogelu y sefydliad ac yn gweithio'n unol â nhw.
Bydd pob swydd yn cael ei chynnig yn amodol ar eirdaon boddhaol ac archwiliadau sgrinio priodol, a allai gynnwys gwirio cofnodion troseddol a chyllid sy’n ymwneud â therfysgaeth. Mae Oxfam GB hefyd yn cymryd rhan yn y Cynllun Rhyngasiantaethol i Ddatgelu Camymddygiad. Yn unol â'r Cynllun hwn, byddwn yn gwneud cais am wybodaeth gan gyflogwyr blaenorol yr ymgeiswyr ynghylch unrhyw ganfyddiadau o ecsbloetio rhywiol, camdriniaeth rywiol a/neu aflonyddwch rhywiol yn ystod eu cyflogaeth, neu achosion a oedd yn destun ymchwiliad pan adawodd yr ymgeisydd ei swydd. Wrth gyflwyno cais, mae'r ymgeisydd am y swydd yn cadarnhau ei fod yn deall y gweithdrefnau recriwtio hyn.
Rydym yn ymrwymedig i sicrhau cydraddoldeb o ran amrywiaeth a rhywedd yn ein sefydliad, ac yn annog ymgeiswyr o gefndiroedd amrywiol i wneud cais.
Gwneud cais:
Yn rhan o'ch cais ar-lein, lanlwythwch eich CV diweddaraf, ynghyd â llythyr eglurhaol sy'n esbonio eich addasrwydd yn unol â phob un o’r meini prawf hanfodol yn y proffil swydd.
Gwybodaeth Amdanom Ni
Mae Oxfam yn gymuned fyd-eang sy'n credu nad yw tlodi'n anochel. Mae'n anghyfiawnder y gellir ei oresgyn. Rydym yn wirfoddolwyr mewn siopau, yn weithredwyr dros hawliau menywod, yn rhedwyr marathonau, yn weithwyr cymorth, yn ffermwyr coffi, yn bobl sy'n codi arian ar y stryd, yn fugeiliaid geifr, yn arbenigwyr polisi, yn ymgyrchwyr, yn beirianwyr dŵr a rhagor. Ac ni fyddwn yn rhoi'r gorau iddi nes y bydd pawb yn gallu byw bywyd heb dlodi am byth.
Mae Oxfam GB yn aelod o gydffederasiwn rhyngwladol o 19 sefydliad sy'n cydweithio â phartneriaid a chymunedau lleol ym meysydd dyngarwch, datblygu ac ymgyrchu, a hynny mewn dros 90 o wledydd.
