About the Role
Reporting to the Africa Finance Director, the post holder will be a key member of the Africa regional support team, with primary responsibility as business partner with country programs for conducting financial analysis and performance evaluations of commercial channels, highlight business area for improvement and especially on commercial channels analysis, sustainability on Core centers, maternity centers, social marketing, and any other business channels.

With an enthusiasm and passion for the work of The Brain Tumour Charity you will have a strong understanding of medical research and its funding. You will be highly organised, with excellent communication skills (written, verbal and interpersonal), a keen eye for details and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. Key accountabilities:
- Work with and assist the Research Team in the implementation of The Charity’s strategic goals and research strategy.
- Undertake research related projects as requested by the Chief Scientific Officer to further the aims of The Charity to transform the research landscape to support people in living longer, better lives following a brain tumour diagnosis.
- Assist with the continued development and maintenance of our research management database as an ongoing resource for future grant rounds, as well as for regular reporting and financial management of current grants.
- Support the administration of The Charity’s grant application, monitoring and review processes, including liaising with researchers and assessment panels.
- Support the peer reviewing of submitted proposals by identifying keywords in applications and expert reviewers for those areas, and ensuring reviews and scores are completed within strict deadlines.
- Organise and attend panel meetings including liaising with attendees and venues, preparing and distributing panel packs, and taking minutes and producing summaries where necessary.
- Monitor the progress of current grants through review of annual reports as well as regular engagement with The Charity’s funded researchers outside of reporting timelines.
- Financial monitoring of awarded grants and maintain accurate records of expenditure.
- Maintain accurate electronic records to track grant applications and awarded grants.
- Respond to enquiries about The Charity’s funded research, research strategy and calls for applications from researchers, the general public and colleagues within The Charity.
- Assist in ensuring the scientific accuracy of internal and external communications around the research programme, for example in feedback letters, mail outs, newsletters, website content and press releases.

This is an excellent opportunity to take on an exciting role within the Humanitarian Team of the Programme & Policy Department/Programme Management Team.

About you
The team is looking for a talented individual to support our portfolio projects through excellent contract and finance management. The Meetings and Events Manager would lead on the delivery of the RSTMH meeting and events strategy. Retail and Volunteers Team: Our Retail and Volunteers Team manages our charity shops and volunteer programs, which play a crucial role in supporting our mission. They recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers to staff our shops and assist with various tasks, such as sorting donations and serving customers. a) Qualifications
Essential
• 5 GSCE’s A-C or equivalent including Maths and English
• Car driver/owner with full clean license
Desirable
• Retail or customer service qualification
b) Experience
Essential
• Experience in retail or charity retail either as a volunteer or employee.
• Administrative/cash handling experience
Desirable
• Experience of managing a team of volunteers or staff.
c) Knowledge and Skills
Essential
• Experience of dealing with customers and maintaining a high level of customer service
• Car owner/driver
