This peer support project is delivered in partnership with South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust to support Carers of people with mental health conditions.  This project will work to support Carers through one-to-one support, outreach, training and peer support groups.

About The Role: 

Using your lived experience of caring for someone with a mental health condition, and a strengths-based approach, you will support mental health Carers in their caring role.  You will provide person centred one-to-one- support, information, signposting, and advocacy, develop, and facilitate peer support groups and deliver training and outreach sessions at different locations across the borough. 

Key Requirements Include: 

• Lived experience of Caring for someone with a mental health condition 

• Knowledge and understanding of mental health and the associated challenges and support needs. 

• The ability to work within the principles and values of peer support.

About the Role:

In this role, you will drive the production and analysis of the quarterly restricted funding KPI reports, use your analytical expertise to ensure data quality and accuracy, and identify opportunities to improve our restricted funding management information tools. You will also contribute to the socialisation of our underlying restricted funding business process, in collaboration with the wider team and the WaterAid Programme System team.

You'll also:

• Lead on the bi-annual development, production and detailed analysis of restricted funding Key Performance Indicator reports (KPIs) for restricted income generation and management with support from the Power Bi team and liaising with key stakeholders.
• Support the Head of PFP in funding data analysis for board reports and adhoc reporting requests.
• Lead on the production of restricted funding reports to support the organisational performance framework and/or as required to improve visibility and accountability of restricted funding performance
• Lead on identifying restricted funding data quality checks and controls to ensure WAPS restricted funding data is as clean as possible and liaise with the relevant WAPS team lead to support on regular data audits.
• Regular review and refresh of restricted funding management information tools to ensure they are useful and innovative.
• Ensure business processes for restricted income generation and management are up to date and inclusive of any new best practice approaches such as cost recovery and co-financing management initiatives
• Ensure all RFP training documents/guides contain up to date WaterAid Programme System (WAPS) references to reflect any changes in system protocols.
• Work with the RFC Advisors, Finance, Strategic Partnerships and other teams as needed to establish how relevant sub-processes and systems currently work or do not work, how they may need to change and how other changes may impact them. Propose solutions, implement, document and communicate them.

Head of Children and Young People’s Service

Sensory Services by Sight for Surrey has been established for over 100 years.  We enable and empower people who are Deaf, hard of hearing, blind, partially sighted, and deafblind to overcome barriers and to be as independent as possible. 

 An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Senior Management Team, and lead our Children and Young People’s Service.  The service helps children, young people and families to thrive, by providing a variety of vibrant and impactful services including the Habilitation Service on behalf of the Local Authority.   

Principal accountabilities:

1. Provide overarching leadership, and management, to the Children and Young People’s Service (CYPS).  

2. Lead, in collaboration with the CYPS Operational Manager, the Surrey County Council contract for Habilitation services ensuring that the Key Performance Indicators are met and reported on, in line with the contractual obligations, and that the contract is secured for the future.

3. Lead, in collaboration with the CYPS Operational Manager, the CYPS Service Facilitator and others, the delivery of outputs and outcomes of a number of grant funded services.

4. Ensure policies and procedures are followed at all times, and to ensure appropriate risk assessments are conducted and maintained.

5. To be the designated Safeguarding Lead for Children and Young People for the charity, working closely with Surrey Safeguarding Children Partnership and other organisations such as Surrey Youth Focus, and internally with the Designated Safeguarding Lead for Adults.

6. To plan and manage the departmental budget for the Children and Young People’s Service, making best use of resources at all times to achieve maximum impact for the people we support across the organisation.

7. Regular reporting to Surrey County Council, Services Committee, Trustee Board, and funders as required.

8. Line management of the CYPS Operational Manager, the Children and Young People’s Service Facilitator, and a number of other direct reports.

9. Support and supervise the team of staff and volunteers to ensure that they perform and work to the agreed standards and in line with our organisational values.

10. Conduct annual appraisals and identify training needs within the team to meet all national standards. 

11. Work with the CYPS Operational Manager to succession plan, and manage the training and development of Trainee Habilitation Specialists to ensure the charity is well resourced.

12. Provide information, support and advice for children with vision impairment/ Multi-Sensory Impairment and their families /carers.

13. To develop the service to include children and young people who are Hard of Hearing or Deaf, and their families, working in partnership with other organisations to ensure we add value. 

14. To share responsibility for the Charity’s operational decision making with other senior managers.

15. To oversee the management and maintenance of the contract for Children’s statutory register of vision impairment.

16. To work in partnership with internal teams, such as fundraising and communications, to ensure the Children and Young People’s Service is well resourced, and always in line with the charity brand.

- We are seeking two ambitious New Partnerships Leads with a strong track record of identifying, cultivating and winning six and seven figure charity of the year, cause related marketing, sponsorship, brand and strategic partnerships.
- With a sector-led approach, you will have responsibility and accountability for developing and implementing successful sector strategies and proactively generating leads to build, maintain and convert your own high-value pipeline.
- You will be a motivated, tenacious, resilient expert in corporate partnerships, and be able to seek out and develop new strategic, mutually beneficial partnerships that will generate significant income and awareness for Marie Curie.
- These roles require someone who is a strategic and commercial thinker, with the ability to maximise both short term opportunities and plan for the long term. You will have strong sector/industry networks, an expert understanding of corporate partnerships and have a proven ability to lead, develop and implement ambitious sector strategies.
- Essential to these roles is an ability to build strong internal and external relationships, and the ability to lead, motivate and support other team members. You will need to collaborate to produce high quality, tailored new business proposals, pitches and vote strategies at pace.

These roles will also require a willingness to travel across the UK.

Additional Criteria for Success:
- Proven track record in securing 6 or 7 figure corporate partnerships
- Experience of working on Charity of the Year (COTY), strategic, commercial and foundation partnerships.
- Experience of winning new business across a range of income streams, including Charity of the Year, CRM and sponsorship.
- Evidence of writing proposals, delivering pitches and winning corporate partnerships with a £100k+ value.
- Experience of identifying, prospecting and securing commercial relationships with corporate organisations in a charitable and / or commercial setting.

Contract: Permanent
Salary: £34,500.00 - 41,500 + LWA £3,500 if applicable
Location: This role can be hybrid or home-based and can be based anywhere within the UK.

Job Title: Director of Finance & Operations

Salary: Circa £85,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Hours: Full-time with hybrid working arrangement; flexible working options available (minimum 4 days per week, 40% in the office).

Location: Hybrid working blending home working with our locations in Chelsea or Harefield Hospital, with a minimum of 40% time spent in the office.

This is a pivotal role within our charity, leading the finance and operations teams and supporting the Charity’s strategic direction. Reporting directly to our CEO, the Director of Finance & Operations is responsible for overseeing our finances and core services, including HR and IT, and acting as Company Secretary. You will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team, Board of Trustees, and external stakeholders to ensure the charity is well-run, financially resilient, and operationally effective.

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategic Oversight: Develop and execute strategies for Finance & Operations to ensure the charity’s assets and infrastructure provide maximum impact for beneficiaries.

• Senior Leadership Contribution: Play an active role as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, providing collective leadership, contributing to strategic decision-making, and supporting the CEO in leading the organisation.

• Financial Management: Lead the finance function, overseeing budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and statutory accounts for an annual income of around £11m.

• Governance: Act as Company Secretary, supporting the Board of Trustees and ensuring compliance with corporate governance requirements.

• Investments: Monitor and report on the charity’s investments, working closely with investment advisors and providing strategic recommendations (strategic reserves of £130m+).

• Operational Oversight: Lead the development of a technology strategy, ensuring IT infrastructure via our outsourced provider supports the charity’s needs and enhances user experience.

• People & Culture: Collaborate with our HR Business Partner to develop a People Strategy that fosters a culture of ambition, agility, and continuous learning, whilst ensuring operational HR support and systems are effective.

A summary of what we’re looking for:

• A fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CCAB, or CIMA) with significant experience in leading finance functions, ideally within the not-for-profit sector.

• Proven track record of managing financial and operational teams, with expertise in charity governance and accounting, investments, and strategic planning.

• Excellent leadership skills with the ability to inspire teams and work collaboratively with senior stakeholders.

• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to synthesise complex data to inform decision-making.

• A deep understanding of compliance, risk management, and regulatory requirements within the charity sector. 

The ideal candidate will have experience within a charity finance & operational role, with the corresponding knowledge and understanding of investment oversight, charity governance, and the HR & IT functions. An understanding of the healthcare context is also beneficial.

But against the backdrop of the cost-of-living crisis, too many single parents are currently battling to feed their families and pay their bills each month. That is why the work that we do is as important now as it ever was, and so last year we launched a new strategy that works to deliver support for today and change for tomorrow. Over the coming years, we will seek to grow our income and reach, taking a systems-change approach to discrimination and attitudes and a programmatic approach to delivering our services and campaigns.

We are looking for a skilled Head of Finance & Resources to join us on a 6–9-month contract basis to help drive improvements across our finance, HR and IT functions, delivering efficiencies and smarter ways of working through better use of systems, more integrated budgeting processes and robust controls.

Our Head of Finance & Resources is a key member of our senior management team (SMT), and you will be working closely with the CEO, Board and wider SMT on all financial matters as we look to deliver against our strategy and grow our fundraising presence. The role will require a high degree of internal management and empathetic leadership style to ensure you bring your team with you through during the period of change.

We are looking for an experienced leader and qualified accountant with exceptional strategic and operational finance skills gained in the charity sector, including knowledge of supporting fundraising strategies. You will have good project management skills and experience of leading change management or continuous improvement programmes. You will also have a collaborative and selfless style, with the ability to inspire those around you and instil confidence at all levels.
