You’ll work across our team, alongside our Information and Advice Worker, and potentially engage some of our volunteers. You’ll also bring in Parent Champions and lead sub-contracted work with a local community partner to help us reach residents in community languages. You’ll help us hear and collect resident stories. The information you collect will be reported to decision-makers responsible for health and care services. 

You’ll enjoy working as part of a team committed to improving health and care services and access for Islington residents. You may have lived experience as a parent/guardian/carer of a child and/or be from a minoritised community.

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic social researcher to join our fantastic Surrey Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC) team.

Based with Good Company, a local anti-poverty charity, the Community Researcher role would design and conduct research on wider determinants of health (e.g., poverty, food insecurity) and their impacts on health inequalities, with a particular focus on co-production and other forms of participatory research. The wider determinants of health are a diverse range of social, economic and environmental factors which influence people’s mental and physical health. Systematic variation in these factors constitutes social inequality, an important driver of the health inequalities.

In addition, this role would seek to increase the capacity of local voluntary sector organisations to carry out their own participatory research, as well as supporting the HDRC programme team in promoting participatory research methods across Surrey and building the local evidence base on the wider determinants of health.

There will be a second Community Researcher post based with Reigate & Banstead Council which will focus on building the participatory research capacity within the local authority.

About Surrey Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC):

This role would form part of the new and innovative Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC) programme funded by the National Institute of Health and Care Research (NIHR). The Surrey HDRC programme is delivered by Surrey County Council,  University of Surrey (UoS), alongside local partners Reigate & Banstead Borough Council, Good Company and Surrey Minority Ethnic Forum (SMEF).

Surrey HDRC is designed to boost the capacity of Surrey County Council to do research, together with our communities, with the aim of improving health outcomes and reducing health inequalities in Surrey communities. Surrey HDRC will develop a sustainable research culture, build research capacity and capability, and increase our local evidence-base on wider determinants of health.

About this role:

The post holder will be based at Good Company and will work as part of the Surrey HDRC programme team, leading on participatory research and co-production. The role includes:

· Developing a programme of research on wider determinants of health inequalities, with a particular focus on co-production and other forms of participatory research.

· Strengthening the participatory and co-production research capacity across Surrey, with a particular focus on the Voluntary, Community, Faith, and Social Enterprise (VCFSE) sector.

· Actively supporting the wider Surrey HDRC team in promoting the value of participatory research and co-production across Surrey County Council and its partners and building the local evidence-base on the social and wider determinants of health.

The post holder should have demonstrable skills in qualitative research methods, including experience of conducting participatory research. Ideally, they will have an understanding of health inequalities and the social and wider determinants of health. Experience of working or volunteering within a community setting would also be desirable.

This service aims to provide long term placements for 16- and 17-year-old young people with care experience in the homes of vetted and trained Community Hosts. Working alongside the floating support and accommodation services that provide structured support packages, they enable young people to develop a range of skills as they move towards independent living.

The role

• First point of contact for young people and referral partners wanting to access the supported lodgings service.
• Lead on the assessment of needs and risk, predominantly focused on suitable risk management plans for the safeguarding, matching and placement of young people in the homes of hosts.
• Arrange all aspects of a young person's stay with a host, ensuring they feel welcomed and supported, considering the support needs of individuals.
• Ensure the health and safety of the environment for young people and hosts through regular checks and reporting.
• Provide regular support and planning sessions for young people,
• Work with young people, hosts and other agencies, to prepare them for independent living and access longer term, appropriate accommodation using support plans.
• You will be part of a team responsible for a 24 hour on call service - on call will be subject to staffing levels but currently this is approx. once every 3 months (a week at a time).
• Recruit, vet and train hosts both formally and informally.
• Be proactive in maintaining host' skills and motivation, including training and celebration events, and provide opportunities for them to shape service delivery.
• Carry out regular checks on host accommodation and assisting them to make necessary changes.
• Ensure that all hosts are made to feel safe, secure and valued.
• Proactively work in partnership with multiple agencies including statutory teams, to support the wellbeing and ongoing housing needs of young people, working in accordance with safeguarding, data protection and information sharing protocols.
• Lead on the active promotion and selling of the Supported Lodgings service to all potential hosts and referral partners, across the voluntary/statutory sectors and within the wider local community.

People with lived experience will be involved in a variety of ways too, including involvement groups, taking part in events within local communities, co-designing services and campaigns, sharing stories and speaking out about the housing emergency. You will work closely alongside people with lived experience to influence and steer the direction of Shelter’s work, so that lived experience informs everything we do.

About you

The ability to plan and co-ordinate involvement activities with local teams and have several activities running during the same time period, is important too, as is a flair for developing successful relationships with colleagues across a large organisation, as well as with local organisations and partners. Some experience of presenting information verbally and in writing is also required, as is proficiency using IT tools to carry out your day-to-day work, including case management systems, Microsoft Office, internet, email and online meetings.

Job Purpose and Key Responsibilities

The Senior Programme Development Specialist  will work on complex and major bids, often on multimillion consortia, commercial contracts and multi-country partnerships, and will be expected to take a high degree of responsibility for developing successful bids including negotiations with internal and external partners. 

This position will drive a high-quality bidding process with institutional donors and large foundations to build a healthy and sustainable funding pipeline so that CIUK can achieve our programme goals. You will work closely with technical advisory teams, country offices, finance colleagues, and other partners in order to deliver winning bids, which showcase CARE’s programme innovation and deliver impact as well as ensuring adequate cost recovery for CIUK.

We have an opportunity available in the team at MASH for an Outreach Worker specifically focused on supporting women who live in Salford. This role is part time at 21 hours per week and will include one night-time outreach shift per week on the MASH van.

We hold a strong belief in women’s assets, talents, skills and abilities. Through our services we partner with women as they access and navigate services to aid recovery and realise their goals.

MASH is the only organisation in Greater Manchester which exists specifically to support women who sex work. Through our range of services we build trusted relationships with women to keep them safer, healthier and more equipped to take control of their lives.

To work with other members of the MASH team to achieve the following outcomes:

• Women who sex work are heard, understood and experience less stigma

Using a gender and trauma-informed approach, the Salford Outreach Worker will support women sex working on the street and in saunas in Salford. They will deliver outreach one night per week to reach Salford residents street sex working. They will also undertake regular outreach sessions to indoor sex work premises during the day. They will develop professional networks in Salford to share intelligence, cascade information about the support MASH can offer and provide joint support to women.

Role purpose:

The role of the People Assistant will be to provide administrative support to the People Team. You will contribute to the efficient running of the department and assist in the delivery of a supportive, employee-oriented organisational culture that emphasises quality, continuous improvement, and high performance.

This is a busy generalist HR role and will give you a broad experience to many different elements of HR practice including recruitment, onboarding and induction, metrics and analytics, EDI, safeguarding, wellbeing, volunteers and learning and development within the humanitarian sector.

Who are we looking for? 

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual who is looking to start or develop their HR career. You will be a people person, committed to delivering excellent customer service who is able to work and communicate well with different individuals and teams, both internal and external to ShelterBox.

As the first point of contact for the HR Team the ability to manage different tasks and priorities simultaneously and have excellent attention to detail will be key.

This role will help generate and collate monthly and quarterly people metrics so excellent IT skills (particularly Microsoft Office and database reporting) are essential. As a member of the HR Team, you will be handling a wide range of data, including sensitive and personal information, as such you will work with discretion and adhere to confidentiality.

Achievement of, or study toward, your CIPD Level 3 is preferable but is not essential. Knowledge of basic employment law and HR practices would be advantageous for the role.

Main role and responsibilities

This role will primarily provide administrative support for the day-to-day running of the HR Team as well as delivering administrative tasks for the Learning & Development (L&D) Team and Volunteer Development Manager. This role will also support ongoing strategic work projects of the People Team. This role will also help support the diary management for the Director of People.

Duties will include but not be limited to:

· Administration of all recruitment campaigns including advertising, arranging interviews and candidate management.

· Administer all HR-related documentation in a timely manner. Documents will relate to starters, leavers, Maternity/Paternity, probation completions, etc.

· Generate and report on monthly and quarterly people metrics.

· Management of the HR inbox and timely response to queries.

· Assist with HR project and strategy work

· Information management of the HRIS ensuring electronic records are accurately maintained and updated in accordance with GDPR legislation including personal details, absence management and employment records.

· Monthly employee file auditing, ensuring records are accurately maintained including return to work, probation, and appraisal completions.

· Support internal communications including organisational updates, wellbeing, and staff newsletters.

· Diary management support for the Director of People

· Note-taking and meeting preparation

· Support office events and initiatives in person and online

· Assist with background checks – including references and DBS checks.

· Administration of H&S requirements (including DSE Assessments).

· Coordinate the logistics and administration for our residential programmes including venue booking, travel and accommodation booking, and sourcing volunteer support.

· Support the administration of the Learning Management System (LMS)

· Manage the incoming communication from the organisation to the shared inbox to ensure all requests are dealt with in a timely and professional manner.

We are seeking an individual with strong administration skills to join our team in the role of Operations Coordinator and support our mission to end homelessness.  This role will support the administrative and operational functions within our offices in Edinburgh and Glasgow, together with our coffee shops and Village, whilst being the first point of contact for inbound enquiries. 

We are looking for a well organised individual, with good problem-solving skills and a can-do attitude to become part of our friendly team and are keen to learn and develop. 

What you’ll be doing:

· Ensuring our offices in Edinburgh and Glasgow are fit for purpose, providing an environment that is welcoming to both staff and external visitors.

· Managing and responding to inbound email and telephone enquiries.

· Manging shop related customer orders, inbound enquiries and invoicing.

· Supporting elements of finance administration, especially during holiday periods. 

· Booking travel, accommodation, training courses and supporting colleagues with other business-related purchases.

· Maintaining the health and safety maintenance tracker and supporting colleagues with actions and maintenance required in each of our operational units and at our Village.

· Arranging meetings and taking minutes if required.

· Supporting with data protection compliance and updating records and policies.

· Supporting the Finance & Risk Director in ensuring our IT systems are safe and secure, in conjunction with our external IT support. 

· Compliance with legislation and adherence to best practice.
