More than one in four children are growing up in poverty in the UK. It doesn’t have to be this way. The new UK government has announced its plans to develop a strategy to tackle child poverty, something that Child Poverty Action Group has led the way in calling for.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced fundraising professional to play a pivotal role in delivering change for the 4.3 million children growing up in poverty. You will have a demonstrable track record in securing six figure and multi annual grants primarily from trusts, foundations and/or the National Lottery.
You will have the ability to work confidently as a creative and analytical problem solver, and a hands-on fundraiser. CPAG’s fundraised income has grown significantly, and the team raises nearly £3 million annually.
You will be responsible for managing all aspects of fundraising income generation, and leading and supporting a small fundraising team. You will be able to build and nurture relationships with funders, donors and other stakeholders, and have excellent communication skills.

The NSPCC's mission is to end cruelty to children in the UK. To carry out its charitable work
and achieve its strategic objectives, the NSPCC must communicate efficiently and effectively

As Senior Student Groups Coordinator, you will be a key player in empowering students to lead societies and networks that shape the vibrant student community. Your role will be vital in ensuring that student groups have the tools, space, and financial support they need to run successful events, trips, and other activities. In this role, you will provide one-to-one support and guidance to student leaders, assisting them in effectively managing their groups. You’ll handle the administration of grants, ensuring that student groups make the best use of available funding, and collaborate with internal teams, such as finance, to manage budgets and keep financial records up to date. You’ll be responsible for ensuring compliance with risk management and health and safety protocols for all group activities, including events and trips. You’ll also develop resources such as toolkits and guides to help student leaders navigate group management and event planning. In addition, you’ll work closely with other departments to support a range of exciting events across the Union.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need proven experience in delivering excellent customer service and providing support in a busy, fast-paced environment. You’ll have strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and empathetically with students and colleagues. Knowledge of risk management, compliance, and health and safety protocols is essential. You should be competent in using digital tools such as Microsoft Office, Teams, and expense management systems. The ability to manage multiple competing priorities while maintaining high standards of service will also be key.
The salary for this role is between £26,640 - £29,820. The position is permanent and full-time (35 hours per week), with hybrid working options available. You will have the flexibility to work from home when duties allow. We are looking for a Chief Executive with the energy, vision and experience to take on the strategic leadership and direction of our well-respected and fast-growing national charity, which brings tangible benefits to men’s health, mental health and suicide prevention across the UK. Our strategy is one of ambitious targets to support the expansion, reach, diversity and sustainability of the Men’s Shed movement, in line with our vision of happier and healthier men by virtue of reduced loneliness, anxiety and depression, improved wellbeing, and saved lives.
Our new CEO will be a proven and exemplary strategic leader, who will head our mission, guide the team, represent our charity with partners, funders and politicians, and support the Shed Movement we exist to serve. Your track record of inspirational leadership and excellent communications skills will be a key part of building and diversifying our funding (including developing sustainable income growth strategies and bringing in commercial sponsorship), broadening and deepening our partnerships and our relationships with government, and driving our future success. Your experience in executive leadership in the nonprofit sectors will ensure the good management and statutory compliance of UKMSA.
