What we’re looking for

ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a compassionate Children and Family Worker to support mothers and children at Penrose Women's Refuge in West London. You will provide trauma-informed care, fostering a safe and nurturing environment for families to heal and thrive.
Your role includes facilitating family activities, offering parenting guidance, supporting children’s education, and working closely with mums and external agencies to deliver holistic support. By empowering families to rebuild relationships and overcome challenges, you’ll help them achieve stability and independence. Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week - Early: 7:30am - 3:30pm, Late: 11:30pm - 7:30am, Day: 9:00am - 5:00pm 1 Saturday per month on site.

The role
This role will work collaboratively within Manchester City Council’s multi-disciplinary Thriving Families Team to support families where children are open to Child Protection or Child In Need plans by working with the person who is causing or has caused harm. The Domestic Abuse Prevention Worker will strive to make contact and work on a one-to-one basis with perpetrators of domestic abuse identified through the Thriving Families multi-disciplinary team. By delivering a tailored intervention we aim to increase the perpetrator’s accountability and motivation to change, whilst reducing risk to victims and children. The Domestic Abuse Prevention worker will work closely with the Thriving Families Team and existing agencies as part of a co located multi agency approach. The Domestic Abuse Prevention worker will work closely with the victim/survivor service to review risk, develop safety plans, and improve outcomes for all parties involved.

Key Responsibilities:
Interagency work
- Work to embed the Domestic Abuse Prevention role into multi-agency responses to domestic abuse in the area, in line with the Thriving Families Manchester Team.
- Support other professionals within the Thriving Families Team in responding to service users in a way that aligns with the aims and ethos of TLC.
- Working closely with other professionals to ensure that risk management and safeguarding duties are effectively met.
- Develop and maintain effective partnership working with statutory, private, and voluntary agencies to address the issue of domestic abuse.
- Represent the service at operational multi-agency meetings, feeding back initiatives and outcomes to the team and contribute to the evaluation of the quality of activities these services offer.
- Provide a single point of proactive and regular contact for a range of professionals involved in the case of the service user.
- Be flexible and willing to work in all types of environments.
Case management
- Comply with child protection and information sharing policies, ensuring that service users and colleagues understand and comply with the service’s safeguarding framework.
- Manage a case load focusing on working with perpetrators of all levels of risk of domestic abuse to provide an assertive, medium to long term service, based on thorough assessment and individual support planning that adopts the principles of both, support and motivation to change.
- Contribute to regular service reviews which include monitoring data, evaluations, intake and output policy, and practice and workload reviews for the whole service.
- Attend regular case management meeting with the TLC Service Manager and regular meetings within the Thriving Families Manchester Team.
- Attend clinical and practice supervision.
- Take appropriate steps to protect where there is an imminent risk to another person.
Recording and administration
- Ensure that case files and records are accurate and complete and are kept and in compliance with Data Protection Act requirements.
- To enter all the required information into organisational electronic case management system to enable tracking of service user change, multi-agency working and risk management.
- Weekly maintenance and accurate and secure audit trail of all relevant communication.
- Comply with the data protection and information sharing protocols to support the Thriving Families Model.
Direct work with service users
- Maintain a proactive response to service users, continuously providing positive options for behaviour change throughout the service users time on service.
- Use combination of motivational work, relationship building and a broad range of therapeutic skills to engage service users to address their abusive behaviour.
- Motivate and support service users to address the broad range of needs that may contribute to the risk that they pose to others or act as barrier for them in addressing that risk. e.g., housing, substance use etc.
- Ensure that there is a consistent delivery of services to the identified perpetrators of domestic abuse, including comprehensive risk assessment, support planning, referrals to other agencies and MARACs.
- Undertake assessment of risk, needs and attitudes to inform the individual service user’s intervention plan.
- Ensure that risk assessment and risk management procedures are followed.
- Respect and value the diversity of the community in which the service works in, providing a service that recognises the diverse needs of service users and their families.
- Work closely with the victim services supporting the partners, ex-partners, new partners, and family members of service users in managing risk and developing intervention plans, as part of the Thriving Families model.
- The welfare and safety of children and young people is paramount, considered in every aspect of your work, address parenting needs where appropriate and taking action to safeguard children.
General
- Remain up-to-date and compliant with all relevant legislation connected to your work, including organisational procedures, policies and professional codes of conduct and practice guidance, to uphold standards of best practice.
- Represent the service at local events; deliver training and presentations as required.
- Feed into the learning process via the Service to improve services to perpetrators of domestic abuse ensuring that the experiences of service users and other agencies inform this process.

We are looking for an exceptional woman to provide senior leadership to two specialist residential rehabs. The National Specialist Family Service a long-standing innovative family residential service that provides for parents and children, and Ophelia House is a trauma responsive female-only treatment service.
You will be understanding and passionate about the gender-specific treatment needs of women, have knowledge of the practical, emotional, social and economic issues facing them, have experience of and a desire to work in trauma responsive settings.
You will also have experience of shaping innovative service and working with families as part of a whole-family approach. You will share our passion for improving access to support/treatment for families (single parents (mums and/or dads) with their child/ren, couples with children, and pregnant women).
We are seeking to develop relationships across the women and family support sector so that we can learn from others and bring best practice and emerging practice (nationally and internationally) into our service delivery. You will have the opportunity to influence Phoenix's strategy and share learning across the organisation and beyond, playing a key role in supporting the women and families national treatment agenda.
This role includes overseeing a women’s-only residential service specialising in providing safe therapeutic environments for those who have experienced multiple disadvantage and those who have experienced past trauma. Therefore there is an Operational Requirement for this role to be fulfilled by a female (determined compliant under ACAS guidelines for recruiting applicants with a protected characteristic to do a certain job).[1]
The Role
This role is a senior operational manager post and will report to the Deputy Director of Operations (TC Specialist). The role has responsibility for managing a portfolio of two specialist residential services:
- Ophelia House, Oxford (Trauma-responsive, female only Therapeutic Community)
- National Specialist Family Service, Sheffield
You will manage CQC Registered Managers and services, along with providing leadership to staff teams across your portfolio of services (portfolio may change over time). These two residential services each provide unique environments and specialism, rooted in the Therapeutic Community approach.
You will be required to attend both of the services depending on need and workplan (located in Oxford & Sheffield respectively), as well as occasional travel elsewhere across England and Scotland.
You will be a member of the Phoenix Senior Management Team (SMT) and influence and shape the future of the organisation. There is the option for hybrid working and flexible/condensed hours would be considered.

About Phoenix
Phoenix Futures has been providing rehabilitation services for over 50 years. In support of the current Drug Strategy in England (From Harm to Hope) and the investment in residential services in Scotland, Phoenix are committed to rebuilding capacity across both countries in the residential rehab sector. In 2022/23 we launched two new residential services (New Oakwood Lodge which is an Enhanced Therapeutic Community in Derby, and Harper House, a National Specialist Family Service in North Ayrshire). We are looking for people to deliver our Being Dad programme of peer support for expectant and new dads, or those with parental responsibilities, in the perinatal period (pregnancy to two years).
As a Sessional Project Worker, you will help co-facilitate our ‘Being Dad’ groups and drop-in sessions with our peer support volunteers. Within these groups, you will provide a safe space for men to share their experiences and the challenges that come during the first years of parenthood.
This is an exciting role offering the opportunity to be involved in frontline delivery of groups, as well as using your own lived experience to input into development of the project.
You will be an effective communicator with experience of delivering groups or workshops. Your exceptional organisation skills will support the successful delivery of the project and ensure that it is evaluated effectively.

Working closely with the youth work team, you will help to provide support and advice to young carers by devising, developing, implementing and managing a programme of social activities for young carers (this could include trips, training, emotional 121 support and other activities).

- Provide one-to-one support for Young Carers, liaising with other agencies to help ensure the best outcomes for Young Carers;
- Establish relationships with schools across West Oxfordshire offering them support in how they identify and respond to the needs of young carers in their classrooms.
- Assist schools in launching Young Carers Groups and introducing Young Carer Leads in their settings.
- Contribute towards awareness raising events and activities to increase the identification and support of Young Carers, including liaison with Schools and community group;
- Liaise and work with colleagues to empower Young Carers and their families;
- Play a role in the assessment of Young Carers as part of the Common Assessment Framework (CAF), Team around the Child (TAC), Young Carers assessments, and assessments carried out by other professionals;
- Develop the active participation of Young Carers, enabling their voice to be heard;
- Support Young Carers and their families to access appropriate support services;
- Record all casework contact information and ensure that all appropriate consent forms, assessments, Baseline Forms, and other required information and administration is completed and recorded for all Young Carers;
- Ensure all tasks, procedures, and practices comply with Be Free Young Carers’ policies, including safeguarding and child protection, health and safety, confidentiality and equal opportunities;
- Assist in the production of newsletters and other communications to Young Carers and their families;
- Keep abreast of, and follow at all times, national and local policy in relation to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults;
- Monitor and evaluate work, producing records and reports as required;

The position is a dual role. You’ll join as one of two dedicated Youth Workers and will lead on a portion of Free to Be Kids’ year-round follow-on support for vulnerable young people who we have already engaged via our Thrive Outside residentials. Crucially, a core aspect of the role will be leading an average of 8-10 of our residential projects across each year - working on the ground with the children, leading the volunteers, and helping make the projects special, safe, and transformative for vulnerable young people, many of whom have complex needs. Attendance at approximately 8-10 five-six night residential projects per year outside London is a core component of this role.

The Role
Resources for Autism has been providing services from 858 Finchley Road for many years and now working in partnership with the London Borough of Barnet are excited to be establishing the space as an Autism Hub for Children and Young People (CYP). The vision of the hub, is to create a welcoming, safe, neuro-affirmative place where autistic people and those who love and care for them can access the support and social opportunities they need at the right time, enabling them to live their best life. It will also be a place where professionals can connect, collaborate and learn ensuring services are joined-up and effective.
The service will offer a range of support to parents and carers and children and young people with autism in Barnet. The service offer could include:
- Advice support and signposting to the autism community pre and post diagnosis
- Weekly drop ins
- Social groups for autistic young people and those who love and care for them.
- Calendar of monthly workshops on specific issues addressing the needs of parent carers/ adults
- Behaviour surgeries for parents
- Autism Training to partner organisations
The Autism Support Worker roles provide access, support, outreach and reception services within an Children & Young people’s Autism Hub, and support to the Hub Manager. The role is responsible for ensuring that services delivered in the hub are effectively supported, monitored and focused to meet the needs of autistic children 0-19 Years and their families.
We are looking for a values-driven candidate with previous experience of working with and supporting children and young people and families. Knowledge and experience of working with autism is preferred but an understanding of SEN/LD will be essential.

Main Responsibilities:
· Provide an efficient and welcoming access point for families accessing a range of services at the CYP Autism hub, working as part of a team of staff providing support for effective service delivery.
· Provide and facilitate advice, guidance and signposting to families accessing the Autism Hub. This may be via telephone, email or in person.
· Support and manage a small caseload of 15-20 families requiring a ‘medium’ level of bespoke support and interventions, ensuring clear aims and goals are set and then empowering the children/family to achieve these.
· Host and/or co-host drop-in sessions, coffee mornings and/ or information sessions for CYP and families on different associated topics connected to autism. This will include facilitating peer support sessions and co delivered ‘workshops’ with partners on different themes.
· Provide effective administrative support to the Hub Business Manager, carrying out administrative duties as directed.
· Support the identification and registration of families with children 0-19 Years within the Hub, working alongside 0-19 Early Help Practitioners and Barnet CSC to encourage and monitor access to provision to ensure that emerging needs are met at the earliest opportunity and access data is correctly recorded and up to date.
· Ensure that activities, access and registration details are captured on RfA’s databases, supporting the Hub Manager to collate data and ensure accurate recording.
· Support the identification, monitoring and planning for eligible families and children within Barnet CSC to advise eligible families of the Hub, it’s services and support and the services available via other partners to ensure maximum take up and access of the service.
· Ensure that any families requiring additional support are flagged up with the Hub Manager and Barnet CSC staff to maintain an effective link to more targeted support and providing continuity of intervention.
· Ensure that local families are given opportunities to become involved in the planning and delivery of services, particularly those in need of support.
· Support meeting and venue booking arrangements, providing administrative support for hub staff, meetings, taking responsibility for sending out invitations, compilation of packs, papers and minute-taking.
· Take responsibility for own role in child protection, parenting, health and safety and premises issues and other related functions to contribute to a co-ordinated team approach to child safety and well-being.
· Undertake training and development necessary to develop in your role as an autism specialist.
· The role requires direct contact with a range of families accessing services. The role will involve working with different partner agencies.
· Some travel may be required across Barnet.
