Abbots Bank is a mental health, supported housing and community based service, working to a recovery model. We provide a range of support services for people with mental ill health to access in their local community, including outreach support, peer support and supported housing. We have been operating in the area for a number of years and offer a staffed service to our residents aged 18 and upwards.
We know that recovery can look and feel very different to each and every one of us. This role sits within the Irish Chaplaincy IC Traveller Equality Project team. Responsibilities include:
Liaise with London Probation, prisons and other agencies to advance equality of opportunity for the GRT community; assist in giving presentations; Probation office visit with easy reading culturally specific books, GRT resources, take part in market style events, explain services, deliver presentations in person and over teams, participate in relevant conferences and meetings.
Deliver an effective advocacy service to the GRT community in prison and their families in response to referrals arising from prison visiting, allocating follow up casework as necessary. Provide advocacy with a wide range of external bodies.
Take responsibility for caseload of clients and to liaise with others in the service delivery to provide comprehensive service to those preparing for release / re settlement and those on probation in the community in London.

Proactively engage with HMPPS, legal/welfare groups and other relevant organisations as requested by GRT prisoners while they are in prison and on probation
Keep, collate and maintain accurate detailed records for own work (via database) ensuring adherence to data protection rules; maintain the cultural and educational resources of the Project; disseminate resources to prisons and other relevant bodies; assist with the production of a newsletter; contribute material to quarterly reports, funder applications and other reports.

About the role
We are seeking a dynamic Family Finding Social Worker or Senior Practitioner wishing to play an active role in the delivery and development of a high-quality family finding service for the London Borough of Hillingdon, for children with a plan for adoption.
The post holder will be one of two professionals responsible for family finding for children with a care plan of adoption within the local area.
The post holder will be part of a small and very supportive team to develop practise and skills in this area. The post holder will also be able to have access resources and services within Hillingdon to support this role and be part of a bigger network of support from colleagues from across the RAA. This role will function as 6 month fixed contract with the possibility of an extension to offer continuity to the children we are family finding for.

We are looking for three Support Workers (Community Connectors – Assessment and Engagement Team) to join our team. We have three positions available in Aylesbury.
Your challenge? To provide advice, support, advocacy and key work for recovery plans and undertake elements of assessment and case management as directed. And, all the while, we’ll expect you to operate in a way that recognises and values diversity and understands the functional model of substance use, the Recovery Agenda and the problems caused by alcohol and drug misuse.
Preferably with a NVQ 2/3 in Social Care, or willing to attain this, you are used to working to policy and procedural requirements that include child protection, vulnerable adults, confidentiality and health & safety.
We’ll also be looking for good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to maintain accurate records and fulfil data requirements. A flexible approach is important too, as is a commitment to taking a client centred approach to providing services and working in a way that recognises and values diversity.

Job Purpose
We have an opportunity to fill a brand-new role within our charity for our new perinatal project supporting the partners of birthing parents.
We are looking for an outreach worker, to work alongside colleagues in the Perinatal Mental Health Service team at West London NHS Trust to:
- Identify and provide support for adult non-birthing parents, where the birthing parent is open to WLNT PMHS.
- Provide individual assessments, peer support groups and signposting to partners.
- Promote the mental health and well-being of partners/significant others.
- Provide information to partners/significant others on how they can support the mental health and well-being of the birthing parent and other members of their family e.g. other children.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver support to enquirers and manage a caseload of individuals as agreed with the HFEH Mind Service Manager.
- Work with the West London NHS Trust Perinatal Mental Health team to promote the Perinatal Support for Partners service and create marketing materials.
- To manage the service inbox which may contain enquiries from referrers.
- To identify partners of the birthing parents and inform them of the service.
- To conduct assessments with said partners.
- Signpost to other relevant services, taking into account the partners’ holistic needs.
- Develop a resource collecting local referral and signposting opportunities relevant to the service user group.
- Keep up to date about current best practices and legislation within mental health, as well as within the field of perinatal mental health.
- Provide updates and feedback to the broader HFEH Mind team and West London NHS Trust Perinatal Mental Health Service team.
- To record details of all client referrals and contacts to ensure client information is kept up to date.
- Record the results of outcome assessments and satisfaction surveys on the database.

The AFRUCA Child Protection Family Support Service sits within AFRUCA as one of our most impactful programmes targeting families from a range of ethnic backgrounds across England and Wales. The service works closely with local authorities children’s services in cases involving families on child protection plans or in court proceedings. We provide direct one to one training and support for parents to aid their ability to provide appropriate parenting and ensure a safer, happier home environment for their children.
The AFRUCA Child Protection Service currently has a team of five qualified social workers and supports over 50 families each year. We also provide a therapeutic service where children are being reunified with their parents. We are establishing a child protection legal drop in service for families in contact with children’s services and an advocacy service for parents in the child protection system.
Most of our families are referred by local authorities children’s services as a result of cultural and religious practices which are deemed harmful to children’s well-being. We offer qualified social workers who do not wish to work in the statutory sector with an alternative approach to practising social work where empathy, kindness and support is key to our work with families. Our ultimate aim is a reduction of children in Black and Ethnic communities going into or remaining in foster care. Designed and delivered by social work charity Frontline, we teach social work differently. By blending learning and practice, what you discover in theory is eased into real-life settings, supervised by a social worker. Gaining your postgraduate diploma within 12 months, will be the first step in your life-changing career.
You’ll learn how to connect with children, young people, parents and carers. How to gain all important trust, so a family opens their door to you again. You’ll gain the technical knowledge and build on your relational skills. We’ll give you the time and support to develop your approach, with confidence.
You earn while you learn, and once you gain your qualification you’ll step right into a job. And through our Frontline Fellowship, you’ll join a network of peers intent on transforming social work practice in England.

What to expect as a trainee social worker
Year 1:
- Start with five weeks of intense online study, including five in-person sessions, led by experts in social work theory.
- Begin your 12-month placement in a local council social work team, where you'll work closely with fellow trainees and an experienced social worker. You'll gradually take on more responsibility in supporting children and families.
- Qualify as a social worker by the end of your first year.
Year 2:
- Manage your own caseload, building on your skills and confidence.
- Engage in ongoing study to further develop your professional abilities.
- Receive continued support from Frontline tutors, your employer and fellow trainees.
Year 3:
- Conduct a research project and complete the academic credits needed for your fully-funded social work master's degree.
- Receive leadership coaching to enhance your professional capabilities.

- Possess the right to work and study in the UK (including access to public funds) for the duration of the programme (until September 2028)
- Be resident in England by the time the programme commences
- Not be a qualified social worker

West London Crisis Recovery House is a Registered Care Home, working to a recovery model, in partnership with West London NHS Trust. It is situated 10 minutes walk from Ealing Broadway on the Central Line and Ealing North on the Piccadilly Line. The services are staffed 24/7 and offer support to our residents aged 18 and upwards.
We apply a strength-based approach to help individuals maximise their health, wellbeing, and independence. As part of your role, you will be helping the people we work with to develop a personal support plan that will see them achieve their goals and aspirations.
The Crisis Recovery House is committed to working within a Trauma Informed Framework which encompasses staff training and support, the support delivered to those using the services as well as our policies and procedures.
Working in a crisis service will provide you with an opportunity to work alongside clinical teams in assessing the suitability of referrals to the service as well as working closely with the Crisis Team who visit the service daily, in delivering care to the people using the service.
Candidates with an understanding of mental health issues and/or lived experience would be welcomed. Most important is your caring and compassionate nature and empathy and enthusiasm for helping others. Whatever your background, you’ll need to be happy to work both independently and within a team and willing to be part of a weekly rota system. Two years’ experience is required, however full training is also provided, including the Care Certificate which is a nationally recognised qualification.
