Job Purpose

As our Finance Manager, reporting to the Director of Finance and working closely with the Senior Leadership Team and colleagues across the organisation, you will be a key person ensuring that our financial data is complete and accurate, overseeing reporting to our programme funders and our international network, and ensuring best practice in all aspects of financial management. You’ll supervise the Database and Income Processing Officer and the Finance Assistant (position currently vacant).

Key responsibilities

Ensure the integrity of financial data and controls, including budgeting, forecasting, Treasury and cash flow management

· Prepare data ready for monthly accounts, reports, and financial statements. This will include the normal monthly journals, reconciliations, and checks

· Support financial planning, risk management, and decision-making

· Liaise as necessary with colleagues in Habitat for Humanity’s international network for reporting and efficient transmission of funds to overseas affiliates

· Manage payroll, tax returns, and financial reporting for funders

· Provide leadership to finance team members and develop financial policies

Accountabilities and Responsibilities

 Purchasing / Expenditure

· Administering commitment and invoice approvals in line with our Delegation of Authority

· Coordinating and verifying expense coding by non-finance staff

· Administering transfers to international partners according to policy

· Other ad hoc payments, including foreign currency transactions

· Reconciling supplier accounts each month

· Ensuring VAT records are accurate and returns made on time

· Maintaining auditable financial records

Income / Donations

· Manage income processing team

· Working with fund-raising teams to ensure all income is appropriately coded and documented

· Importing grants and donations from the CRM system (Raiser’s Edge) to the accounting system and reconciling to bank

· Regular reconciliations between the accounting and CRM systems

· Coding, processing and reconciling other income

· Assisting with Gift Aid claims

Bank

· Administering weekly payment runs and coordinating on-time authorisations

· Processing international transfers

· Currency and treasury management

· Bank account reconciliations

General queries

· Dealing politely and efficiently with questions from inside and outside the organisation

· Dealing assertively and effectively with cases of any deviations from policies and procedures

Record keeping

· Complete and accurate record keeping bearing in mind detailed level of audit compliance

· Logical filing of evidence of transactions, primarily electronic.

Month- and Quarter-End processes

· Preparing nominal journals, such as accruals/prepayments, payroll allocations, depreciation

· Monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts.

Other duties

 · Checking Employee Expenses Claims (processed by the Office Manager) and final processing

· Assisting Director of Finance and other relevant staff with finance-related questions

· Assisting with the annual audit and preparation of financial statements

· Additional finance admin duties as required

· Run donor budget reports for the Europe region office and internal stakeholders

What we’re looking for

 · A qualified or part-qualified finance professional with at least 3 years’ experience in charity finance, including fund accounting

· Skills in financial control, compliance, management, and reporting

· Knowledge of accounting software (Sage50 and Sun ideally) and downstream spreadsheet and similar tools; a willingness to learn new ways of handling data

· Good summarising and communication skills with the ability to influence colleagues and senior leaders

· A pragmatic, efficient character with a dedication to accuracy and reliability

· A questioning mindset, finding opportunities to improve every day

We're hiring a Deputy Service Manager to join our service in Luton. You will be based across two locations, one which is a residential project, providing accommodation to homeless families with support needs including expectant mothers, mothers with up to two children under the age of 10, or single women aiming to have guardianship of their children. The other service provides temporary accommodation to single homeless males who have various support needs which could include mental health, substance misuse, and offending history.

You will be based across both services, providing overall leadership and management of your service projects and teams who deliver high quality, trauma informed support to residents. Your role will ensure full contract and regulatory compliance, being a role model and leader for your team to achieve service KPI's and other requirements for the service.

We are seeking a passionate, driven and motivated colleague to lead this service in a trauma informed and inclusive way. Someone who is knowledgeable in the needs of our residents, and can support the team in delivering excellence. You will be driven with passion for what we do, and be able to work flexibly to meet service needs, providing new ideas and opportunities to develop the service further to continue to achieve excellence!

The role includes:

• Line Management and Leadership, supporting your team providing advice, guidance and support throughout their employment lifecycle
• Support the Service Manager in leading the day to day operational delivery of the service
• Risk Management ownership, ensuring processes and policies are followed
• Property and Housing Management, ensuring the accommodation meets our requirements, and repairs and maintenance are regularly reported and completed
• Financial Management, including petty cash and budget management

Role Purpose

As Senior Policy Officer you will be part of the Patient Advocacy team who work to ensure that the patient voice is heard and acted upon by UK and devolved nations healthcare policy decision makers. We are looking for a talented Head of Human Resources to join our team and help millions of separated children get Back to Family.

About the role:

The Head of Human Resources will be responsible for overseeing and advising on all people issues, and leading on people strategies, learning and development, and talent management. As a member of the Senior Management Team, you will be responsible for evolving and delivering our people strategy and plans focussed on attraction, retention, performance, and development, as well as our work on wellbeing and equity, diversity, and inclusion.

While your primary focus as the Head of Human Resources is to provide HR leadership, operations and support to UK and internationally focussed teams, you will build strong engagement and working relationships across our global organisation, providing support and advice to Country Directors as required.

You will be a dynamic leader who is able to work both strategically and operationally, you will be highly collaborative in your approach and a pragmatist who instinctively knows where to add value. You will be able to act as a key sounding board for senior managers across the organisation, facilitating the improvement of leadership qualities and hence individual and collective performance and culture.

We believe children belong in families, never orphanages. Because orphanages harm children. The majority of those who experience life inside an institution suffer violence, abuse and neglect. Denied the chance to grow up in a family, they’re more likely to become homeless later in life, to have run-ins with the law, and to experience mental and physical health issues.

The shocking truth is that these are almost always children who have, or could have, a family to look after them. To love them. But every day, a broken system puts pressure on parents to give up their children. They'll be safe from war, can escape poverty, will get an education. False promises. No child should have to trade their family for their future.

Today, over 5.4 million children are trapped within institutions. It’s not right and it must stop.

Location: Flexible but with regular attendance each month at our London or Salisbury office as needed
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (4 days will be considered)
Salary: £65,000 to £70,000 per annum pro rata, including any London weighting if applicable.
