Ataxia UK collaborates with the global ataxia community through our Research team, and we are on the board of the international non-profit association, Euro-ataxia. Our Services team focuses on helping everyone affected by ataxia in the UK to live their best life. We have a Helpline and Advocacy service providing information, advice, and 1-2-1 support to help people access their rights; whilst the InControl Community Engagement service provides activities, engagement and volunteering opportunities to bring the ataxia community together and reduce feelings of isolation. 

About the Role  

You will be joining at an exciting time for Ataxia UK as we celebrate our 60th anniversary year.

This brand-new role is an important part of our new strategy to sustainably grow our unrestricted income. Working closely with the Director of Fundraising & Communications and the wider team, the Senior Philanthropy Manager will lead the work to build a pipeline of major donors and family trusts and foundations.

You will be responsible for developing an excellent stewardship programme which nurtures income-generating relationships with Ataxia UK’s major donors. You will initially work with a fixed-term Philanthropy Consultant to lead the development of a researched and actionable pipeline of prospective new donors, and you will then work to successfully engage this pipeline. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a brand-new function as a senior member of an experienced team of fundraisers.

Ataxia UK operates a hybrid- working policy, with part time staff working 3 or 4 days a week expected to work from our offices in Highgate a minimum of 1 day a week. The role will require some occasional travel within the UK and, more rarely, internationally.

About you

The right candidate will be a natural relationship builder with a proven track record of securing high value, long term partnerships with major donors; personally securing 5 and 6-figure gifts.

You will use excellent communication skills to write compelling and tailored cases for support. As a key member of the Fundraising & Communications department, you will bring creativity, insight and experience to the team, and you will be a confident ambassador and representative internally and externally.

As an experienced major donor fundraiser, you will be comfortable and confident engaging with High-Net-Worth Individuals and their offices, celebrities, politicians and c-suite professionals. You will have the flexibility to join events and or meet donors and prospective donors at locations around the UK. The post holder will focus on delivery of the child, adolescent to parental violence and abuse programme which is incorporates an Non Violent Resistance approach.

Specialist Child to Parent Violence delivery:

· Advocate for the rights of children to be respected, heard and protected.

· Deliver sessions for parents using Non Violent Resistance (NVR) techniques and child and family members, applying a systematic family approach to managing violence and abuse in the home.

· Adhere to the relevant programme manuals for parents as well as for the children and young people.

· Use motivational interviewing techniques and strength based approaches to engage with families.

· Support parents and young people to learn skills and knowledge to deal with behaviour in a non-violenct way, using NVR and trauma informed CBT methods.

· Work closely with other statutory and voluntary professionals to ensure appropriate steps are taken to protect where there is an imminent risk to another person. Apply RISE’s escalation procedures.

· Be responsible and accountable for working with Team leader and/or Service Manager and Advanced practitioner to ensure risk is reviewed on a weekly basis.

· Attend monthly risk review and practice development meetings with Team leader or Advanced practitioner to ensure effective risk management procedures are applied at all times.

· Attend training sessions to enhance their delivery and understanding of NVR.

· Be personally accountable for the completion of assessments, pre and post questionnaires, and End of Intervention reports, and ensure they are to a high standard.

· Provide support and consultancy to other professionals to ensure appropriateness of referrals  and improve understanding on NVR and CBT techniques and working with families (parents and children and young people.

· Ensure effective planning for the delivery of each intervention in advance of the session.

· Partake and pass all relevant NVR and other child, young people  and parent centred training to undertake this specialist work.

· Deliver community training as required.

Recording and administrative tasks:

· Ensure timely and accurate recording of all relevant data (attendance, feedback, mid-way and end of intervention reports) using systems provided and in line with performance standards.

· Maintain an accurate audit trail of all relevant communication with partner organistions involved.

· Ensure completion of pre and post questionnaires in line with RISE’s Social Impact strategy.

· Contribute to the evaluation and evidencing of social impact, including questionnaires and service user case studies.

General tasks:

· Develop excellent relationships with customers and respond positively to their needs.

· Be a strong advocate for RISE interventions, representing RISE and its interventions at key stakeholder events.

· Attend Clinical Consultancy  and Practice meetings to support safe practice and develop resilience during the delivery of demanding work as directed by the Senior Practitioner.

· Adhere to the Data Protection and Freedom of Information Acts and comply with the terms of RISE’s Privacy, IT and Data protection policies, and that of our partners where relevant.

About the Role

Learning with Parents is recruiting for a School Partnership Manager to work closely with the Schools Team to develop partnerships with new schools and support them as they launch our programme. As School Partnership Manager, you will have a key role supporting schools through our Learning with Parents programme to ensure learning spans a meaningful partnership across schools and homes. 

We are scaling the number of schools who use our Reading Log in September. To ensure the success of this exciting development, we are increasing the capacity of our Schools Team to engage with new schools and onboard them onto our programmes. 

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a mission-led charity driving meaningful change in the education system. 

Areas of Responsibility

Relationship Management 

• Working closely with class teachers and school leaders to run successful programmes in partner schools

• Building strong relationships with schools to develop multi-year partnerships ensuring more families are supported through our programmes. 

Sales 

• Discussing and confirming annual renewal licences with schools 

• Work with schools to develop our partnership with them each for example increasing coverage over all classes or adding new programmes to their subscription.

• Supporting Programme Director to identify new MATs and school leads

• Supporting with marketing to schools 

• Refining our sales and onboarding process, 

• Supporting the Schools Partnership Office with the sales pipeline on our CRM.

Programme Development 

• Supporting with creation of school, child and parent facing materials 

• Supporting with ongoing programme improvements and developments 

Programme Impact

• Contributing to the compilation of impact summaries for school. Using engagement plans to drive the impact of programmes with schools

• Feeding back insights from schools to the rest of our teams to help strengthen the impact of programmes and inform our programme and partnership development.

About You 

A successful School Partnership Manager will be eager to work in a small team, have a can-do attitude, and be keen to get stuck in to support the charity’s growth and impact. 

Our ideal candidate would also be able to provide examples of when they have used the following skills and experience:

• Experience working within the UK education system, either in schools or in other organisations working in the space such as charities or suppliers

Tragically, 1-2 seemingly healthy children die in the UK every fortnight, often going to sleep and never waking up. This incidence is unchanging. SUDC UK was founded in 2017 to raise awareness of Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC), encourage and fund scientific research and offer support and advice to affected families.  We believe SUDC research should receive more attention and scientific investment and are inspired by efforts to impact SIDS (cot death), where there has been an 80% reduction in infant deaths in the past 30 years. We can do so much more for SUDC children and their families.

You will demonstrate extensive experience as a mental health professional with a recognised qualification, clinical training in evidence-based therapies for children and young people, and a proven track record in senior leadership, staff management, and university-level teaching.

Essential skills and experience:

• Leadership and supervision: extensive clinical experience, including managing, supervising, and supporting staff and students in university programmes.
• Academic experience: knowledge and experience in curriculum and assignment design, marking/moderating, and delivering teaching.
• Competency in child and family work: expertise in core competencies for working with children, young people, and their families, including the application of Children and Young People’s Psychological Trainings (CYP-IAPT).
• Cultural awareness and inclusivity: ability to create cultural reflection opportunities and provide high-quality, inclusive teaching to a diverse student body.

Key details

About this job

We’re seeking a skilled Purchase Ledger with a passion for accuracy and efficiency to manage the processing and payment of invoices, credit notes, expenses, and other payments through our purchase ledger system. In this vital role, you’ll handle a high volume of transactions using Compleat purchase ordering software and our accounting system (currently Dynamics GP, likely to transition to Microsoft Business Central soon).

You’ll be responsible for ensuring all invoices and expenses are legitimate, accurately matched, and approved in line with our policies and procedures. Acting as the primary contact for suppliers, (including managing the accounts payable mailbox) you’ll ensure that all queries are dealt with promptly and efficiently and that the turnaround between receipt and payment of invoices is in line with what has been agreed with the supplier. You’ll ensure payments are processed on time and prepare bulk BACS payment runs, reconcile supplier statements, and assist with verifying supplier details.

If you have experience in purchase ledger management, strong attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving, we’d love to hear from you.

FSN is based in Hastings & St Leonards and delivers a range of services across the towns and villages of East Sussex, responding to the changing needs of the community and the children, young people and families that live there.

The role is a Full-Time position based in our offices in Hastings & St Leonards.

Salary Range £50,000 - £60,000 per annum.
